## What is Skyview?

Skyview is a viewer and management app for home and small-business
cameras. It pairs with a Skyview server you run yourself, and is
designed for IP cameras that speak the RTSP / ONVIF standard.

— What this is —
Skyview is NOT a public cloud service and does not connect your
cameras to the internet for you. You first set up the Skyview server
on a PC, NAS, or mini-PC at home, attach your cameras to it, and then
use this app on iPhone / iPad to view and manage everything. All
video and events stay on your own hardware — nothing is uploaded to
any third-party cloud.

• Filter by camera, event type, and time range
• Jump directly to the recorded video at the event's timestamp

USERS & SHARING
• Multiple accounts can sign in to the same server
• Admins create standard users and limit which cameras they see
• Change password, sign out, and switch servers from inside the app

• Server records each camera in segments; the app shows free space
  and retention days per camera

VOICE ANNOUNCEMENTS (Optional)
• If you enable server-side automation, cameras can speak a phrase
  out loud when an event triggers (for example, "Unknown visitor
  detected — owner has been notified"), turning monitoring into

1. An RTSP / ONVIF compatible IP camera (most home IPCs qualify)
2. An always-on PC, NAS, or mini-PC to run the Skyview server
3. After the one-time server setup, enter your server address in
   this app and sign in.

Cameras that use proprietary protocols (Tapo, Mi Home, Wyze, etc.)
need to be bridged to RTSP first using a tool such as go2rtc.

— Privacy —
• All video, recordings, and AI results live on YOUR server
• Push notifications carry only event type and camera name — no
  imagery is sent through Apple's push pipeline
• The app collects no analytics, contains no third-party tracking
  SDKs

— About offline use —
This app depends on your home server. If the server is offline or
unreachable, live and recorded video are not available. Run the
server on hardware that stays on 24/7, and configure a stable
remote-access method on your home network (see the server
documentation for details).

### 0.9.38 — 2026-08-13

This update rolls up everything since the previous release.

NEW
· Recognizes your own cats and dogs. Add your pets and events name the individual animal. See where it went during the day and the spots it favors (mark the litter box, food bowl and other places yourself), plus a one-line daily recap; the home screen now shows recently seen pets. Yunkan picks out photos of pets it doesn't recognize yet for you to confirm, so you never feed it samples by hand.
· Movement trails on event pictures. See where the subject came from, where they went, and where they lingered.
· Replay the moment right in the event. No more jumping to playback and hunting through the timeline — the event detail plays those few seconds directly, with detection boxes following the action.
· Notifications carry the picture. A push is no longer just a line of text: you see the subject that was captured. Once the AI summary is ready it updates that same notification instead of ringing again or adding a second alert.
· See who has been around. People and pet cards now show where they were last seen and when.
· Weather recognition. Outdoor cameras can identify clear, cloudy, hazy, rain, snow and thunderstorm conditions, updating as the weather changes, and the result can drive automations.
· New automation triggers: pets (filterable by species), events detected by the camera itself (any camera supporting standard ONVIF, plus TP-Link VIGI), and "unusual sound" (glass breaking, screaming — kept separate from crying).

IMPROVED
· Event list and playback thumbnails are now close-ups of the subject, so a small tile still shows who or what it was — and uses less data.
· The event list scrolls smoothly and endlessly, making it faster to browse history.
· Detection box labels adapt to the box width, so small subjects are no longer covered by their own label; sheep, cattle and horses now have proper names.
· Export errors now follow your interface language, so English, Japanese, French and Traditional Chinese no longer show Chinese error text.
· Detection settings now say changes take effect in about 10 seconds instead of asking for a restart.

FIXED
· Slow first frame on the live view over the internet: it often took more than ten seconds and now appears within a few, with the biggest gain on multi-interface and dual-stack networks.
· Status chips in the top right of the home screen turning into a solid blur on iOS 27.
· The PTZ preset list not scrolling when a camera has many presets.
· Video and live view kept playing after leaving the playback tab, wasting data and battery.
· Misplaced delete confirmation dialogs on iPad and Mac.
· Missing translations on the camera wall and date picker.

Note: pet recognition, movement trails, in-event clips and notification images require the host to be updated to 0.9.38 or later.

This update adds a French interface, fixes a large number of localization issues,
and improves the event list and push notifications.

New French interface
• The app is now fully available in French.

Major localization fixes
• Fixed a problem where large parts of the interface stayed in Chinese after
  switching the app's language — sign-in, home, live view, playback, bird's-eye
  view, events, automations, settings and subscription screens are all corrected.
• Added translations that were previously missing (time labels, playback error
  messages, plate examples, camera pickers and more).
• Fixed layout issues with longer languages such as French: text no longer gets
  truncated or squeezed in automation forms, event details and settings.

Event list
• No longer limited to the 100 most recent events — scroll down to load more.
• Returning from a recording now keeps your place in the list.

Push notifications
• Notifications now follow the app's own language setting, so several devices in
  one household can each use their own language (previously every device used the
  single language configured on the server).
• With the latest server version, you'll also be alerted if cloud backup stops
  unexpectedly.

Other
• If your server is still on an older version, the app now stays compatible and
  keeps delivering notifications.

### 0.9.24 — 2026-07-03

This update adds deep integration with Hikvision, Dahua and Reolink cameras, fixes the full-screen experience for portrait cameras like doorbells, and adds a French interface.

Deep integration with Hikvision / Dahua / Reolink cameras
• Smart events built into these cameras (person, vehicle, line-crossing intrusion, tamper/blocked lens) now flow straight into the app — pushed and able to trigger automations, just like on-device AI
• Turn a camera's white spotlight on or off right from the app; automations can trigger "turn on light / siren + strobe" with an auto-off timer — light up and deter intruders at night
• When a camera reports a person or vehicle, face and license-plate recognition run on the spot: a known face is logged as its own event, and a recognized plate is added to the matching vehicle event

Portrait camera full-screen fix
• Cameras with a portrait image (doorbells, vertically mounted) used to be forced into landscape on full screen — cramped in the middle with black bars, and actually smaller. They now stay portrait and fill the screen, in both live view and playback (landscape cameras are unaffected)

New French interface + localization polish
• Added a French interface, plus a systematic pass fixing places where Chinese text or incomplete translations still showed through in non-Chinese languages

Sharper detection, easier on your disk
• Fixed brief missed detections during the split second when someone enters a dark room or the light/IR switches — the key moment no longer slips by
• For cameras that only record on events, the idle buffer window was tightened, saving significant local space in multi-camera / high-resolution setups
• When the disk fills up it now auto-overwrites the oldest recordings like a surveillance drive — no manual cleanup needed; and if the disk is filled by data outside Yunkan, your recordings are never wrongly deleted

Fixes
• Fixed intercom / voice announce on some Hikvision cameras occasionally failing the first ticond try
• Fixed some Chinese users being switched to English notifications after signing in — notification language now follows your choice in Settings
• Added display for "tamper / blocked lens" events in the app

A major upgrade to playback and PTZ control, closer to professional surveillance:

  · All-in-one playback (live + review): Open "Today" and you start on the live view; drag the timeline back to seamlessly review recent and older footage. The app automatically picks the
  smoothest playback method, switches across recording segments without a black screen, and remembers your mute / volume setting.
  · Reworked PTZ controls: The pan-tilt pad and zoom controls have been redesigned to feel more natural; presets now live in their own panel with one-tap "Go to preset"; and the live quick
  panel adds voice announcements with selectable voices and saved frequent phrases.
  · New "Show camera info" in live monitoring: One toggle overlays the current codec, frame rate, bitrate, resolution and transport protocol in the top-left corner — picture quality and
  network status at a glance.
  · Smoother events: The event detail page now shows an "AI summary" that sums up what happened in a single natural sentence; today's events support pull-to-load-more, and event cards are
  now a larger 16:9 for a clearer view.
  · More flexible detection: Pick the main or sub stream per camera for detection, balancing clarity and performance.
  · Fixes and improvements: Fixed the mute button on portrait recordings being blocked by a gesture and untappable; when a camera can't fetch a new frame it now shows the last frame (pull to
  refresh) instead of going blank; fixed snapshots / thumbnails failing to load on some H.265 cameras; and overall stability and smoothness improvements.

  • Works with Apple Home (HomeKit): add your cameras to the Home app on iPhone / iPad — watch live, use Siri, and record motion clips straight to iCloud (HomeKit Secure Video). You can even
  listen to camera audio and talk back through your phone's microphone (Pro).
  • New Birdseye overview: see all your cameras stitched into a single view, in immersive landscape full-screen with pinch-to-zoom, pan, and double-tap to reset.
  • Smoother live detection boxes: boxes for people / vehicles / pets are now drawn in real time, tracking more steadily without flickering in size; high-priority alerts like falls are
  marked with a bold red box.
  • Entry/exit is now "draw a line": draw one line across a doorway or hallway and crossings are tagged with direction (in / out), right on the event image.
  • Optical PTZ zoom: the pan/tilt control pad adds zoom in / out — tap for one step, hold for continuous zoom (true optical lens zoom, not a digital crop).
  • Playback calendar marks recordings: days with footage show a green dot, so you can see at a glance which days have something to review.
  • Hide detection boxes on snapshots: tap to see the raw image; the app remembers your choice.
  • Live preview remembers mute: it stays muted or unmuted the way you last left it.
  • Choose what to detect: keep only the object types you care about (people / vehicles / pets, etc.) per camera to cut down on noise.
  • Non-Chinese devices now default to English, and push notifications follow your in-app language.
