## What is Slate?

Slate blocks your most distracting apps until you study.

Pick Instagram, TikTok, whatever pulls you away. Set how many
flashcards you need to review. Study them. Your apps unlock.

That's it.

HOW IT WORKS
Add your flashcards, organize them into decks, and pick which
apps to block. When you try to open a blocked app, Slate holds
it until you've reviewed your cards for the day.

ACTUALLY SMART SCHEDULING
Slate uses the SM-2 spaced repetition algorithm — the same
science behind Anki — to show you cards right before you'd
forget them. You study less. You remember more.

SEE YOUR PROGRESS
Daily cards reviewed, study streaks, and screen time converted
into study time. Numbers that actually mean something.

No ads. No subscriptions to unlock basic features.
Study first. Your apps will be there when you're done.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.5 — 2026-06-11

Slate on your home screen.

The new Quick Study widget lets you review a card without ever opening the app — just tap a rating right from your home screen, and it's logged. Plus widgets for your streak, daily progress, and Lock Screen.

Inside the app: a real 3D card flip, combo notifications when you're on a roll, and a few other small touches that make studying feel a little more alive.

### 1.2 — 2026-06-06

App blocking is here.

Lock the apps that pull you off task — Instagram, TikTok, anything —
and unlock them only after you study. Set how many cards you want
to review before your apps come back. Five cards, ten, whatever
works for you.

This is what Slate was built to do, and we're glad to finally
ship it. Thanks for sticking with us through the early updates.

Coming next: AI-generated flashcards from your notes, and the
habit features (streak protection, milestones, daily reminders)
to make studying stick.

### 1.1 — 2026-06-02

Slate is fresh.

We rebuilt the entire app with a new look — cleaner, calmer, easier
on the eyes. Same study loop you know, with a redesigned home, a
new daily progress ring, a new icon, and a smoother card review
experience.

Coming next: AI flashcards from your notes, plus the return of
app blocking once Apple approves our entitlement. Thanks for the
early support.

### 1.0 — 2026-05-29
