## What is Slate?

Most of us don't remember our days. We scroll, consume, and move on. The days disappear, and sometimes, life just gets away from you.
Slate is built to change that.
Open the app, tap record, and speak. Slate transcribes your voice on-device, quietly cleans up filler words, and saves everything privately to your phone. Most entries take under two minutes.
I built Slate because I've always admired people who journal. I tried to be that person for years and never found a way to stick with it. So I built something for real life: messy, fast, and easily forgotten.
Not for perfect writers or long entries. For anyone who feels like their days are blurring together. For anyone who wants to be a little more present in their own life.

Monthly Recap
At the start of each month, Slate now looks back at how you showed up the month before. See how many times you came back to yourself, what time of day you tend to reach for it, the word that came up most, and how long you tend to go. It ends with a shareable card and a prompt to start your first entry of the new month. Check the banner in your library whenever it's ready.

Transcription loading
Long recordings now show a loading indicator while your entry is being transcribed — so you know something's happening.

Onboarding
After your first entry saves, Slate now asks for your name and whether you'd like a daily reminder. Both optional, both useful.

Small things
The mood dots in the recording screen now have a brief label on first use, in case you weren't sure what they did.
