## What is Sleep Drift?

Most sleep apps play you a recording. This one creates the sound from what you
type. In seconds.

Say what you want to hear — "rain on a canvas tent", or "a box fan in a big
empty room" — and SleepDrift builds it on your iPhone. What you describe is
never picked from a library.

Recorded tracks come back around every few minutes, and once you have heard the
join you can't unhear it. SleepDrift makes several versions of your sound and
drifts between them, with a second bed underneath running to a deliberately
different length. The two only line up again after hours, so the repeat never
comes round while you are there to hear it.

WHAT YOU GET
• Any sound you can describe
• More than one thing at once: "a stream over rocks, birds in the trees" is
made as two layers and mixed, so you can build the room you want
• Twelve one-tap classics — white, brown and pink noise, a box fan, rain on a
roof, ocean waves, a mountain creek, a campfire, a night train and more —
each made the first time you play it
• One slider from warm to bright, instead of three separate noise files
• A dice, for the nights when you can't think of anything
• A sleep timer that fades out slowly, so nothing cuts off mid-breath
• Gentle wake: your morning sound rises from a whisper over two minutes, with a
notification as a backup if the app isn't running by then
• Nightstand mode, an ultra-dim clock you can read at 3am, with backgrounds and
  an amber nightlight
• Favourites kept for good, with icons you pick

TYPE IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE
The app is in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese,
Korean and Chinese, and you can describe a sound in any of them. Your words are
translated on the phone before the sound is made — nothing is sent anywhere.
(Needs iOS 18 and Apple's language pack for your language.)

IT RUNS ON YOUR PHONE
No account and no servers. Nothing you type and nothing you make leaves the
device, and after the download it needs no internet at all, so it works in
airplane mode all night.

FOR NURSERIES
Guidance for infant sleep puts all-night sound under about 50 dB, with the
speaker across the room rather than beside the cot. SleepDrift won't pretend to
measure that; a phone can't do it reliably. The test that works is simpler: if
you have to raise your voice over it, it is too loud.

ONE NIGHT FREE, THEN ONE PAYMENT
Your first sound is free to make, and everything you make is yours to keep.
Your first night is free too — play it straight through, with the sleep timer,
gentle wake and nightstand. After that, saved sounds play five minutes at a
time until you unlock the app with a single payment. There is no subscription.
Whatever you decide, the sounds you have already made keep playing, and your
library is never taken away.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-06

One price, once. The subscription is gone — unlock SleepDrift with a single
payment and it is yours for good, on every sound you ever make.

Your first night is free, too: play a sound straight through the night, with the
sleep timer, gentle wake and nightstand, before you decide anything. Everything
you have already made keeps playing, as always.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-20

A small update. SleepDrift can now ask what you think of it — in the daytime, never while a sound is playing, and only once you have actually slept to it a few times.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-17

Try it properly before you pay. A free week now comes with the subscription, so
you can sleep a whole night to your own sound before deciding — and you can
still skip the subscription entirely and unlock SleepDrift forever with one
payment.

All twelve built-in sounds are free to play, and your first sound is free to
make. Without the unlock everything plays five minutes at a time; with it, until
morning. Sounds you have made are never taken away.

Thunderstorm and Campfire have been remade. The old ones did not sound the way
they should have.

Also fixes a layout problem where the purchase screen could be cut off on
smaller screens or at larger text sizes.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-24

No release notes.
