Downsides: Not a lot has changed in 10 years, have they lost interest? It’s an iPhone interface on an iPad (Slightly dysfunctional). No android version (really annoying!). Upsides: It works reliably and you can mix up to 4 sounds in many ways. Once in a while I'll try a new sleep app out of curiosity, but I always come back to this one. It's exceeded the others in many ways. Currently, I live in a new neighborhood where homes are still being built. The workers are here bright and early with their noise but and my stand alone sleep machine just doesn't cut it. I put my air buds in and go back to sleep because this app blocks out everything when you choose the right settings. The only reason for 3 stars is that I don't appreciate being woken up by an app that's supposed to help you sleep, by warning that my volume maybe too loud. And repeatedly! Could you tell me that one time when I first start it up & not when I've had enough time to fall asleep?? From there, I am able to take on responsibility for my own hearing. Moreover, multiple warnings are pretty upsetting, especially when I've gone in to adjust the volume already. Certain scenarios require louder volumes. This is as infuriating as when my airbuds signal when they're about to turn off, which also wakes me up! All of these bells and whistles cause broken sleep, defeating the purpose. I don't recall Sound Sleep having this feature in the past. If it is new, I may need to continue my quest for another sleep app that perfectly suits my needs. ### 5/5 — Best ever! *2026-02-04, version 5.1* I’ve used this app for 5+ years. It’s not intuitive at all. And it appears if you can figure out how to use it, you have to set the alarm for how many hours from that moment you want the alarm to go off. You can’t set a time in the morning. I wish i had my $3.99 back. ### 1/5 — Unusable. Crashes constantly. *2026-02-11, version 5.1* The app doesn’t work. It just crashes over and over again. I recently downloaded the app on my new iPhone to use it as an alarm clock & have had nothing but trouble. The sound type keeps changing for some unknown reason and for 3 days in a row I get a dog barking alarm that goes off at 9:00am that I never setup & don't know how to remove! So aggravating. ### 1/5 — Unreliable don’t waste your money *2023-08-10* It used to be a good app. This app is now useless. Do not pay for the upgraded version as it will be money down the toilet. It has not been updated for two years, which is sad. I paid for the paid version. Wish I could get my money back. Hate it when app developers have a good app, get you to turn over your cash for upgrades and then they ditch the app and run with your money. I go to bed with it running in the foreground and screen on like it says to do. The alarm never fires when it’s supposed to and when I looked to see why I find the app has moved itself to the background and shut the alarm off or I set the alarm for 8am and 30 seconds after I set it it starts firing. What good is that? Last night I decided to forget trying to use the alarm since it never works anyway and just decided to play cricket sounds. It did great until 4:30am, then for some reason just stopped. I looked at the app, it appeared to have the same settings I went bed with and should have been doing cricket sounds but no. I swiped the app off the main screen in disgust and as soon as I swiped it away the crickets started again. I gave up and just shut the app down completely. It’s a big fat tease because there are sounds on here I can’t get anywhere else but I can’t use them because the stupid app decides when the alarms will fire in the middle of the night or when the sleep sounds will be turned off to ruin my night of sleep. 🤬 ### 1/5 — Awesome app *2020-11-11, version 5.0* Works everytime for me. Thou it could use some new sounds. The sound of a jet airliner in flight always makes me sleepy. Hopefully on the next update 11/11/2020... the latest up date has totally ruined this app for me. Crashes all the time and it completely resets its self every time I leave the app wiping all the sounds I’ve added. It won’t even open up before it crashes. ### 1/5 — This is July 3, 2020 and the app does not work. *2020-07-03* The app was last updated in 2015. There’s a number of features that do not work. On several screens you can’t press the “done” button to close the screen. On the share button a window pops up that is gobbledygook and ghost images. You can’t select a recipient to share and you can’t close the window. For these features it is only possible to close and reopen the application.I tried to fix these problems by deleting and reinstalling the application and restarting my iPhone. However you can use the application, create and save new mixers and load a mix you’ve saved however you can’t close the window on the “SAVE” screen so you can only do that once then you’ll have to close and restart the application. I tried to send the developer an email using the email address that is shown on this page but my email was rejected because it said I didn’t have access. So you can’t contact the developer. ### 1/5 — Update equals constant crashes *2016-01-14, version 4.1* This used to be a great app. Had used it for years, ever since the update however it is constantly crashing which ends up waking me up because it's too quiet into the room. Very disappointing, contacted customer service, they never bothered to reply. Basically useless to me now. If you managed to not get the last update, DON'T, it also erases your favourites, which double sucked for me because it ended up that it updated right when I was going to bed an I not only had to wait for it to finish nit also had to find all my sound combos again while exhausted and frustrated. ### 1/5 — Downloaded update - and Presto, it does NOT work anymore *2015-12-23, version 4.1* In an attempt to solve the issue, I deleted it and then tried to download again from cloud. However, the app was no longer listed under my purchased apps... Under on this iPhone/ iPad. Ended up having to buy the app again, and sure enough the configuration is all phucked up and does not work on my iPad. Pos ### 1/5 — Used to be brilliant now no sound *2015-11-27, version 3.1* Still works great on my old ipod touch 3g but doesn't work properly on my iPhone 5s. The app loads but there is no sound coming out at all and the icons remain in the play icon. Its obviously a bug but looking at recent reviews it hasn't been resolved or responded to.
