After that it was nothing more than a terrible WiFi router with no range. Signal was so weak you couldn’t connect a phone in the same room. The very unreliable software that was meant to act as a video switcher but connectivity issues out the wazoo and broken contacts on the audio input made this thing a real headache. About 6 months ago I talked the team into switcher studio. For example, I often have to pinch to zoom in way too far, getting far more pixelization than I’m comfortable with, when the problem could to be solved simply by switching to the 2x telephoto lens of my iPhone 11 Pro. The screen stays black on the monitor but through the iPhone/iPad it shows the footage. Maybe TOO simple. *2020-08-26, version 1.2.27* We’ve been using a Sling Studio setup to live stream our church services, and it’s worked very well with no major issues. A couple things that would improve it: 1) Right now, the app is SO basic that it can’t even use the other lenses on an iPhone 11 Pro. Being able to use the wide lens and the zoom lens is a basic feature I expect, so please add that. A third party camera app shouldn’t be LESS capable than the phone’s default app. 2) I’d love to see a partnership happen with the FiLMiC Pro app for those who want advanced control over their image. ### 3/5 — Can’t use iPhone 11 Pro’s wide or zoom lenses *2020-06-12, version 1.2.27* Cons: It can’t use anything but the 1x lens on iPhone 11 Pro, which is a HUGE bummer. PLEASE add support for that. More control over the image such as shutter speed and advanced features like that would also be a plus. Pros: Super easy to use. Two steps and it’s available as a video source on the console. ### 3/5 — Updates Please *2020-03-18, version 1.2.27* This app works for the basics but has a bug with adjusting brightness in latest iOS version. You make the adjustment and then it reverts back to default automatically within 5 minutes. The app should also take advantage of the latest features of the iOS camera app with iPhone 11 Pro. Would allow for a great multi camera setup, and for better white balance live, instead of having to do it in post production. Why has development stopped on this? I would be willing to even pay for the app to keep it updated, as it easily integrates. ### 3/5 — Useful but limited *2019-10-02, version 1.2.27* I am repeating what has been mentioned before, but it would be nice to utilize the full functionality of the iPhone (manual exposure and focus, choice of iPhone 11 lens, etc). Or at least enable the ability for other video apps (i.e. Filmic Pro) to communicate and send video to the Sling Studio hub. This is probably out of the scope for an app...but maybe functionality like Audiobus, but for video. As it is, using an iPhone is not a viable alternative to using a cameralink (with a camera). ### 5/5 — Cannot use screen share *2019-09-17, version 1.2.27* Unlike switcher studio remote, this app only transmits the camera signal. Needs Software fix immediately *2021-07-14, version 1.2.27* Issues with Camera Link (leas than a year old) not charging because the battery discharged too low for the charging circuitry to safely restart charging. I am told by the SS FB Group pros thAt I have to replace the whole unit since apparently battery replacement is impossible once it drops below charging status. That your software that prevents it from charging at that point. Would you be willing to replace my camlink? I made sure I selected the sling studio Wi-Fi option but still was unsuccessful. Not sure if it’s the new operating system or the phone itself! Hopefully an update will fix the issue. To be able to use this app for a secondary camera option for my church is very helpful because we don’t have to purchase another camera! Overall I love the connectivity and features. You can do a very decent production on the go if you know what you’re doing. Now, has issues when switching to PiP using a audio line-in. Updates needs: Please update split screens and be able to switch cameras on split screens. Update on being able to control the phone’s cameras from the app (zoom, exposure etc,) Update on selection of phone’s cameras/lenses More graphics! Be able to use more than 2 video sources at once.
