Generic AI detectors were trained on student essays. Point one at a novel and it flags Hemingway. Slopsleuth is built for fiction. It runs five transparent audits across your manuscript and shows you which patterns it found and exactly where — no black-box percentage, and no verdict on who wrote your book. WHAT IT MEASURES • Stock AI-Phrasings — the recurring constructions generated prose leans on • Not-X Fragments — "Not a question. A statement." and its many cousins • Body-Part Clusters — hands, eyes, jaws and breath doing all the emotional work • Dialogue Texture — whether dialogue carries interruption, subtext and mess • Voice Variance — a per-chapter check that catches hybrid manuscripts, where a whole-book average hides the seams CALIBRATED ON REAL NOVELS The Great Gatsby, The Sun Also Rises, The Red Badge of Courage and Winesburg, Ohio all score 0.0 — within human range. A thriller generated cold for benchmarking scores 23.0. That calibration is the whole product. A detector that flags Fitzgerald is not measuring what it claims to measure. WHAT IT IS NOT Slopsleuth measures text patterns, not authorship. False positives and false negatives are possible. Every report says so, because a score without that sentence invites exactly the false accusation this tool exists to prevent. Use it to examine prose — your own, or a submission — not to convict anyone. HOW IT WORKS Paste a chapter, or choose a .docx, .txt or .md file from your phone. You get a composite score, a plain-language verdict, and a card for every audit with the passages that triggered it. Expand any audit to read the flagged lines in context.
