### 3/5 — Can’t send

*2023-07-27*

I paid for this app but i can’t send music from a different unlike before it worked really great. I don’t know what happened. I kept receiving a message that says bad url. This never happened before. I’m so disappointed. This app was really useful since I’m a musician.

### 4/5 — Love The App, but…

*2022-04-26, version 5.2.1*

I absolutely love this app! It’s a tremendous help. However, I wish it still worked on my older iPads as well as it works in my new one. I don’t quite understand why it doesn’t, though.

### 3/5 — Old style was better

*2018-08-28, version 5.1.1*

I use MT a lot and have for years. I much prefer the old style. Please go back to it or give me the option of doing so. Thanks

### 4/5 — MT 2.1- I like it! Still great 7 years later!

*2017-09-06, version 3.5.4*

It's quite amazing what MT 2.1 does for just a couple of bucks, considering you can pay several hundred bucks for a Tascam slow downer device and around fifty for some of the current computer-bound guitar/riff/song software packages. Those products do a lot of other functions, too, but the fundamental and most desirable feature for learning songs with any of these programs or devices is the ability to slow the songs down significantly without introducing noise artifacts. MT does that quite well and you can change key easily too.
Some reviewers have complained that it's not so easy to enter songs into MT 'directly' from your IPhone. But how you do this is basically just like adding a song to an ITunes playllist: go to a web site, upload the song via an "upload" (browse) button, and then ITunes syncs it into MT. I'll be interested to see if even more features are added to later versions, but I'm very impressed with MT 2.1 and still find it hard to believe I got it for just a couple of dollars.

Still great after using it for 7 years!

### 4/5 — Works well

*2017-03-12, version 3.5.4*

The app seems to work well so far.
Only issue is the app struggles with variable bit rate mps files. It only shows 0 to 23 seconds of the song at a time and is pretty much impossible to select a phrase from variable bit MP3 song. I was able to slow down an speed up but unable to choose a phrase to loop over.
So works well with fixed bit rate but not variable bit rate encoded MP3 files.

### 3/5 — Phrase creation buggy

*2012-07-26, version 3.4*

The basic function of slowing a song down works well but the main use of this app would be to learn a portion of a song. In that regard the app is a failure.

The start/stop points you select do not correspond to the intended time point in the song. eg I select the 30 sec to the 50 sec mark and the phrase ends up being way off. So the phrasing function is practically useless.

Clarification:
Turns out the graphical sliders for start/stop can be used to set correct position. If you edit the start/stop points by manually entering, that's where it fails.

Nevermind that the UI for the function is terrible. We should be able to just play the song and tap buttons to pick phrase start/end (with ability to then refine).

FIX IT!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2012-04-16, version 3.4*

Like the fact that you can change speed and pitch independently. Just wish they had a version for iPad2 - I have it on both my itouch and my iPad2 but an iPad version could be so much better. Also would like the ability to save changes under a new name of my choosing. Still, a great app!

### 4/5 — Pretty Good

*2012-02-15, version 3.4*

Works pretty well, though the music gets degraded when you slow down the tempo. You can still use it, just doesn't sound as clear.
Good features, easy to use. I particularly like the ability to save a snippet of a slowed down tune. It literally saves it at the slowed down tempo. Guess I didn't read about that feature in iTunes.

### 5/5 — If you're a musician, you need this app

*2011-12-22, version 3.4*

Seriously. It's worth every penny and bit of data it takes up on your phone. Helps me with warm ups, learning lyrics, learning drum, bass, and guitar parts... I'm a better musician because of it. Stop contemplating whether you should get it, and GET IT!

### 5/5 — Excellent, convenient and easy to use for learning a piece

*2011-12-02, version 3.3*

The app is terrific. I use it on my iPod Touch.
I bought a expensive music practicing CD system in order to slow down jazz pieces so that I could learn them.
This app is easier to use and more convenient so much so that I have not used the CD player.
I have my songs on the iPod and then import what i am playing to the app.
Thanks for this.

### 5/5 — Great app for training

*2011-06-11, version 3.3*

I bought this about a year ago to mimic a winamp plugin, but wanted something portable for my iTouch. It was great but due to limitations from apple, it was a clunky yet innovative way to load the song. Now that I have an iPhone 4, I installed this app, and it now reads my library! Woo hoo! I really can't ask for more. It does what it says, and does it really, really well!

### 1/5 — Read the review

*2021-01-24, version 5.2.1*

P.T. Barnum once said “ there’s a sucker born every minute”

### 1/5 — Skips, No customer support

*2019-12-27, version 5.2.1*

I emailed several times about how the app skips and sounds fuzzy and never heard back from customer support.
I want my money back. It doesn’t work. I have patiently waited customer service for weeks.

### 1/5 — Apple Music

*2018-06-15, version 4.3*

This app is a complete waste of money. It does not play a song that I have downloaded from Apple Music!!! Defeats the purpose

**Developer response:** Hi Jahshavd

Apple only allows you to play songs that you have downloaded and own. That means you have to have purchased it from iTunes/Apple Music or ripped it from a CD. If you have a spotify premium account you can slow down Spotiy's entire catalog of songs

fee free to contact us info@SantaCruzIntegration.com

p.s. Just a heads up we about to release a major new version in the next couple of days. We completely redesigned the user interface

### 1/5 — Do not get this app!

*2017-07-23, version 3.5.4*

Such a rip off!! I have not found one, 1, not one, song it will down load!! Trash!! Youve been warned. Every song says it is protected and wont open. I paid for nothing and got nothing.

I already have that setting allowed in my phone. I will be happy to wrong, but this app is worthless. I feel cheated.

**Developer response:** Starting in IOS 10 user must grant the app access to Apple Music. You can check to see if you have granted access by going to the Setting App. Scroll to Slow Down Music Player. if you tap the '>' you will see all privileges you have granted to the app. See http://www.santacruzintegration.com/permissionToAccessMediaLibrary.jsp for more information Please let us know if you are still having trouble

### 1/5 — Terrible - will not let me play songs on IPhone

*2017-06-15, version 3.5.4*

There are only two options of songs to play favorites, two songs come with the installation, and "IPod" music. Every time I try to play one of the songs on my iPhone, it tells me there's an error downloading. This app is useless. Rip off.

**Developer response:** By default Apple's iPod music player streams music. This causes problems if you ever want to listen to your music when you do not have a network connection. Also Apple does not provide a way for apps like 'Slow Down Music Player' to access streaming songs or force them to download them for you. See http://www.santacruzintegration.com/iPodLibraryForceDownLoad.jsp for instructions on how to make songs avalible to Slow Down

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2016-03-26, version 3.5.2*

I just purchased this app based on the advice of my kid’s music teacher. I’ve seen it work, but it doesn’t for me. Getting the "problem calculating song length” error. I don’t use iTunes Match or iCloud on this particular device, and all the songs are natively synched. The songs play just fine in the native music player app. I’m running IOS 9.2.1 which is the latest available for iPad Air (my device). The last time this app has been updated is almost 3 years ago. If it doesn’t work for modern devices or IOS versions, it should be noted in the description. Otherwise, it should be pulled from sale.

Andy Davidson, please fix the app, or refund the money to all those who have purchased the non-working app!

### 1/5 — Currently useless

*2009-01-22, version 0*

I was hoping to import tunes from Itunes but the import button doesn't take me anywhere but an on and off switch which seems to do nothing. Other than that there are just two tracks - a blues in E and Funky Blues Riff. Pause button doesn't work btw.
The links to support on this page currently takes you to support page for a hockey game! Another of the links on the info in the application takes you to a guitarist's webpage. Looks like this could be a promising app but needs a lot of work for the upgrade/support otherwise I've just wasted $10!

### 2/5 — Can’t loop anymore

*2018-11-10, version 5.1.1*

The loop function won’t work with the new update

**Developer response:** Apple just released a bug fix for this issue.

### 2/5 — Violin student

*2014-12-18, version 3.5.2*

We purchased this app to use with my daughter's Suzuki violin practicing. Slowing down the music is really helpful when she is learning a piece and needing to get notes in tune. However, almost every time we use this app, we get an error message when loading songs to use. We have to end out of the app, reload music and it takes up a lot of valuable time just to get this app to work. Very disappointed because we had high hopes for this application.

### 2/5 — Was great, but no longer works.

*2014-11-17, version 3.5.2*

I'd been looking for an app that changed the tempo of songs without compromising pitch and sound quality & finally found this one. I must say, for a long time, I was pleased. I enjoy using it to speed up or slow down songs so I can exercise or run to the beat. For The last couple years, I've used the app frequently – at least a couple times a week. However, all of a sudden the app will not work with any of the songs I try to choose from The music loaded on my phone through iTunes. Each time I try a new song, I get an error message stating that the song is probably not on my device – which it is. The old songs I loaded into my favorites section still work, but none of the new songs do. Very disappointed. I loved music trainer.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great way to learn new songs and perfect techniques

*2021-01-05, version 5.2.1*

This is a great app if you’re trying to learn a new song and want to play along with a professional recording. It’s very helpful to be able to slow the song down and be able to play and replay certain parts. Until you’re happy with it. It’s helped me progress with more difficult pieces.

### 5/5 — Incredibly helpful

*2020-10-15, version 5.2.1*

Been using this slow down music trainer for years & it has helped me master many difficult parts of songs that I likely wouldn’t have been able to get right without this app. I highly recommend it to all musicians!

### 5/5 — My favorite app

*2018-12-21, version 5.2.1*

I use this app almost every day. I can not begin to count the number of hours I spent using this app.

### 5/5 — Perfect music tool

*2018-04-27, version 4.3*

If your trying to learn intros or solo’s or just a section of a song that’s hard to hear this is the tool for you. I’ve used it for about 10 years on both iPhone and iPad with any issues or complaints.

### 5/5 — Jan. 24, 17

*2017-01-24, version 3.5.3*

This has been an important tool for me. i was crushed when it didnt function for about two years. So glad I checked back on it. So glad its working again. I have other similar apps but the directness and simplicity of this tool makes it the most convenient to use.

### 5/5 — Love the program

*2013-05-21, version 3.5.2*

I use this app constantly on my phone! When I'm working on a song to learn - I find the key that works for me - and then play it in that key to practice along with. Then with the program, I create phrases or bits of the song, and play just those parts I really need to work on to get the phrasing just right. I have also created phrases of the instrumental breaks, so I can try and learn some of those fancy licks - and then I can slow it way down with the program to try and catch every note. I know you're saying - oh I can do that on my computer, but I use it on my phone at work during my lunch, on road trips, etc. I also use it at my music lessons to play for my instructors for demonstration purposes. It's awesome!

### 5/5 — Incredible Tool

*2013-04-04, version 3.5.2*

This app is a must have for any and all musicians. As a jazz musician I listen meticulously for hours at a time. This app is perfect for listening to any music, but It really allows me to slow down the jazz and transcribe all the bass trombone lines. Best of all is the feature that allows you to slow or speed tempo without changing pitch. If you do any transcribing of any sort, but this app now! I've had it at least 2 years, it has yet to disappoint

### 5/5 — Great Program

*2013-03-12, version 3.5.1*

I have had this app for about a month now and I have to say that it absolutely exceeds every expectation I might have had. It works exactly as designed and will make obsolete any type of trainer you may have used before. I had an issue at first creating a section (turned out I was doing it wrong) so I sent an email for help. The response came in less than an hour and I was on my way. App beyond expectation, and service to go with it. Best money I've spent on an app ever!

### 5/5 — Exactly what I was looking for

*2013-02-15, version 3.5.1*

Straight forward, intuitive, functional... What more could you ask? It took me a few minutes to realize that it is suppose to be in portrait view to see all the controls (duh). It finds your music quickly, allows looping, saving loops, etc. they have thought of everything!

### 5/5 — Awesome app.

*2012-08-20, version 3.4*

This app really does helps you figure out parts your trying to learn. it's money well-spent. However, when you slow the song down, it doesn't sound very clear. I hope they'll fix that. And also, if you can slow down the music to more than just 50%, that would be awesome. Other than that, if you're a musician trying to figure parts out, get it. You won't be sorry
