## What is Slowburn?

My wife reads fanfiction the way other people breathe. Three hundred thousand words into a slow burn at one in the morning, every night. And every reader she tried let her down the same way: it choked on long fics, forgot where she stopped, or put her own bookmarks behind a subscription.

So I built her a better one. This is it. It's free, and it stays free.

Slowburn is an unofficial reader for the Archive of Our Own. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Organization for Transformative Works or AO3.

WHY IT'S DIFFERENT

Long fics actually work.
Half a million words opens in a second and scrolls without a stutter. That was the entire reason this app exists.

Nothing is held back.
No ads. No subscription. No "pro" tier. Every feature below is free — including the themes, fonts, text-to-speech, collections, offline downloads and sync that other readers charge for.

It remembers your exact place.
Not the chapter. The paragraph, down to the character. Close the app mid-sentence and come back to that sentence.

Your reading follows you.
Your library, your collections and your place in every work sync through your own iCloud account. There is no account to create here and no server of ours in the middle — your device talks to the Archive directly, the way a browser does.

ON AO3
Sign in with your own AO3 account to open restricted works, leave kudos, bookmark and comment. You type your password on AO3's own login page — this app never sees it, and never stores it.

PRIVACY
Slowburn collects nothing. Not "collects it and promises to behave" — there is no server of ours for it to reach. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking.

Every work you read belongs to the person who wrote it. The Archive runs on donations and volunteers — if you can, support the OTW.

- Leaving kudos from a work's detail page works again. The button was there, but taps were never reaching it.
