Everything else is subject to surprisingly frequent dropouts, and overall just not at a sufficiently user-friendly level of surfacing information, at least for a private off- grid farm situation. Constantly receiving ‘Communication Error’ ‘It is currently not possible to access the servers - please try again later’ This is very frustrating. Fortunately, I am able to get the live data from the website but still - not user friendly! ### 3/5 — Environment stats nowhere near accurate *2026-05-27, version 1.32* The issue with the app and more generally SMA software in general is that it has gone backwards to some extent in that it no longer caters for generator feed-in, hence CO2 stats are completely wrong when generator supplements solar / grid-tied feed in. If I in my generator the app treats it as solar, while this could be attributed to configuration this is incorrect as no generator option in config! ### 1/5 — Connectivity Problems *2026-05-22, version 1.32* We have a constant problem with no information regarding the state of charge of the battery bank. There are reviews from February that SMA has responded to claiming that this will be fixed. It has not been fixed. I try to show someone the energy I produce but the feed is down ### 2/5 — Great foundation, but lacks basic tariff support *2026-03-14, version 1.31* The app handles the basics of solar and consumption monitoring well, but it’s falling behind the competition in one key area: cost tracking. Most modern energy plans aren't flat-rate anymore, yet this app doesn't allow for multiple daily tariffs. Implementing a way to input variable rates would allow users to audit their energy bills and ensure accuracy. It’s a necessary update to make this data truly useful. All it shows is my instant energy production no past history no data at all. The app for my car charger gives more detail about what my solar panels are producing than this worthless app does. ### 1/5 — Server issues and SMA lacking support *2026-07-11, version 1.33* We installed a PV solar system in 2011 and invested in extra equipment for monitoring, including the SMA weather station, the SMA Webbox, and more. Ever since, SMA keeps discontinuing systems and retiring services. The full system monitoring we paid for about 15 years is pretty much useless now while it’s supposed to have a 30 year lifetime. When you purchase a new PV system, think twice before investing in something that barely lasts 15 years. Sunny Webbox and the SMA monitoring is pretty much useless after 15 years at a time when it really matters. ### 1/5 — App broken *2026-07-04, version 1.32* App hasn’t worked for a while. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t fix it. However-- I quickly grew to absolutely love the app. It is so interesting to be able to see how much energy is being used at any given time. I have had moments in the evening when my panels were almost-- but not quite-- powering the house, and I went through turning off unused lights and got back to net generation! It is informative and beyond that-- fun! Very reinforcing. It is also really great to be able to see the history. Here in hot and humid New Orleans, my panels produce a surplus in the winter that builds up credit (we have net metering) that can then be used in the summer to power air conditioning. The app allows me to see exactly how much of a surplus I have generated so I can predict whether the extra use will be covered by the winter credits. **Developer response:** Hello cla504, thank you for your really positive and heartwarming feedback. Much appreciated. ### 5/5 — Wärmepumpenbetrieb über die Leistungskurve ablesbar *2025-12-30* Wir haben seit Anfang September eine 13 kW-Wärmepumpe von Lambda in Betrieb, die in Deutschland von Zewotherm vertrieben wird. An dem Steuergerät kam man alle Betriebsdaten ablesen und diese werden per WLAN auch an den Installateur gesendet, der auch von außen eingreifen kann, aber per Lambda-APP werden nur wenige Betriendsdaten weitergereicht. Sehr viel aufschlussreicher ist SMA-App, die mit ihren Leistungsdaten ziemlich genau anzeigt, wieviel Leistung gerade von der WP abgerufen wird. Da wir die SMA-App bereits mit einem Jahr Vorlauf vor dem WP-Betrieb eingesetzt hatten, kann man jetzt einen „effektiven“ COP aus der Formel Wärmeleistung / (Stromleistung im aktuellen Jahr - Stromleistung im Vorjahr) berechnen, die die Wärmeleistung in Bezug auf den vom Netzbetreiber bereitgestellten Strom (Fremdstrom) recht gut wiedergibt. Dort werden derzeit noch kumulierte Werte von über 7 erreicht, während der kumulierte COP der WP auf 6,25 abgesunken ist. **Developer response:** Hi wim_73, danke für deine positive Rückmeldung.
