To view the "paused" data, select on the 'view' icon, represented by an Eye in the lower right of the RTA plot. So - yes - we do say that it is a paid app upfront, before you download - if you read the product description the information is there. You have to cancel the trial or be charged after 7 days. Is there no way to see basic functionality without a subscription? ### 3/5 — Great app but still needs work *2025-05-20, version 1.5* I use this app in a live pa setting. I have noticed every time I close the program I loose my graph settings. Even more frustrating is my external mic calibration disappears every time I close the program. Basic version should be free with how limited it is and upgrade to pro should be a perpetual license. I use Smaart V9 on Windows that I purchased a perpetual license for, why can’t I do the same for the app. Like the interface but limited features and expensive subscription for the pro features make this a flop. ### 3/5 — Love Smaart hate subscriptions *2025-01-27, version 1.1* Glad to see this on iOS. I bought the add-on when it was on AudioTools. Very disappointed there isn’t a perpetual license. Would love to use this but absolutely refuse the subscription model for software. Please reconsider the options. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No free/limited option, forced subscription *2026-04-16, version 1.7* Nothing in the app listing said anything about EVERY feature being locked behind a subscription. Only after downloading the app, and expecting a limited feature set, I am greeted with a forced subscription page as soon as it opens. Sure, there’s a 7 day trial, but even the cheapest plan option is $60 to purchase outright. This is yet another, greedy, “own nothing and be happy” company that wants to push everyone to subscribe and makes a buyout option insanely overpriced. ### 1/5 — De pago sin prueba *2026-01-08, version 1.6* Si no te dejan probar ni una vez, dudo mucho que funcione ### 1/5 — Not worth it *2025-11-13, version 1.6* For the cost of the app I would expect save functionality paticually for laeq setup and mic calibration. Poor quality app for premium price based around another computer based system that actually works. ### 1/5 — Chrash *2025-07-18* the APP doesnt work with external audio interfaces. when i use the internal microphones from iPAD it works. when i connect a USB interface the APP crash and close. **Developer response:** It has worked with the devices we've been able to test - but we have by no means tested all external audio devices available. What is the particular device you are using that cause the app to crash? The app is the same for iPad and iPhone, so not sure how that could effect it as long as it is supported on the device and can provide enough power. Users should be able to freely explore an app's interface, customize settings, and get a feel for its functionality before being prompted for credit card details. This current method is a major deterrent and should be reconsidered for a more user-friendly experience. *EDIT* give credit where it’s due: the developers at Rational Acoustics reached out to me directly with a thoughtful and detailed explanation of the constraints they face due to Apple’s current rules around trials and purchases. They were transparent about the tradeoffs involved and acknowledged the value of what I was asking for. I suggested they consider implementing a manual, time-limited trial period (e.g., 7 days of full functionality), something I’ve seen work well in other apps, and they were open to the idea. While I still hope to see a more user-friendly trial experience in a future update, I really appreciate the direct and respectful communication from the team. Here’s hoping that as development continues, they’ll find a solution that allows curious users to explore the app before committing to a subscription. Give me the choice of a one time fee or get one star. I’m not doing that, nor am I doing a free trial just to use this once. The desktop version is great too! ### 5/5 — Works Great *2026-04-06, version 1.7* Used it to measure subwoofer sound curves in various locations to determine best placement for dual subs. Works perfectly for this. Has ability to track peaks. Adjusting the range of X and Y axis is a bit finicky, but not worth deducting a star from this rating. The app was super helpful for me. Would love to see an easier calibration for external microphones, as well as the ability to monitor real time data from a connected computer running SMAART. Overall very useful and beautiful design.
