## What is Smaki?

Half of what goes bad in a fridge goes bad because nobody remembered it was there.

Smaki keeps your pantry in one list sorted by expiration date, so the food closest to spoiling is the food you see first. When something is about to go, ask for a recipe built around it and cook it while it is still good.

WHAT YOU GET

A pantry that tracks expiry dates
Add groceries by hand, or paste a line like "milk, eggs, chicken 500 g, a bag of spinach" and let the app split it into products for you. Every item shows how much is left and how many days it has. The list sorts itself, so anything expiring soon sits on top and nothing quietly rots at the back of the fridge. Yesterday, today and three days left each get their own colour, readable at a glance.

Recipes made from what you already have
Say what you feel like eating, or point at the food expiring soon, and get a full recipe with ingredients, steps and cooking time. It is written around the food in your kitchen, your diet and your allergies. An ingredient you marked as an allergen never makes it into a recipe, no exceptions.

Your own recipes and recipes from the web
Write a recipe by hand, or paste a link to one you found, and it lands in the same library next to the generated ones. Search across all of them in one place.

Cooking you can tick off
Steps are checkboxes, not a wall of text you lose your place in. When you are done, every ingredient the meal used comes off the pantry in one tap, so your inventory stays honest without any bookkeeping.

A shopping list that closes the loop
Add groceries by hand or pull the missing ones straight from a recipe. What you bought moves into the pantry in one action, expiry dates and all. Going shopping together? Share the list by link, no app needed on the other side.

LESS FOOD WASTE, LESS THINKING

The whole point is the order of operations. Most cooking apps start with a recipe and send you to the store. Smaki starts with the leftovers and the expiration dates you already have, and works backwards to dinner. Fewer forgotten vegetables, fewer emergency grocery runs, fewer meals decided at 8 pm on an empty stomach.

FREE, AND HONEST ABOUT IT

Smaki is free. Generating a recipe with AI costs credits, and you get credits by watching a short video when you want more. No subscription, no paywall in the middle of dinner, nothing to buy.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

No account, no sign-in, no cloud. Your pantry, your recipes and your shopping list live on your phone and nowhere else. Delete everything in one tap from settings whenever you want.

Available in 18 languages, with full support for dark mode and larger text.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-31

Smaki is rebuilt from the ground up.

The app now opens around the thing it was always meant to do: keep your food sorted by expiration date and help you cook what is about to spoil.

WHAT IS NEW

A pantry that sorts itself, so the food expiring soonest is the food you see first.
Recipes built around what you already have, your diet and your allergies.
Steps you tick off while cooking, with the ingredients you used coming off the pantry in one tap.
A shopping list that moves what you bought into the pantry, expiry dates and all.
Recipes and lists you can share by link, with no app needed on the other side.

WHAT IS GONE, AND WHY

Calorie and macro numbers. They were estimates without a reliable source behind them, and wrong numbers about food are worse than no numbers.
Voice input. Almost nobody used it, and it slowed down the screen for everyone else.
Credit packs and subscription. Nothing is for sale any more. Credits for AI recipes come from watching a short video instead.

PLEASE READ BEFORE UPDATING

This version is a complete rewrite and cannot read the data from the old app. Saved recipes, your pantry and your shopping list will not carry over. If you want to keep something, write it down or share it out of the old version first.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-05-14

What's new in 1.0.5:

• AI credit packs: pay per use without a subscription. Buy a pack from Settings → Credits.
• Bug fixes and small improvements.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-05-13

Version 1.0.3

The big additions in this release: advanced sharing for recipes and shopping lists, plus the ability to attach your own photos to cooking steps.

WHAT'S NEW

Advanced sharing
Share recipes and shopping lists with friends and family in one tap. The recipient opens the link and adds everything to their own app, including ingredients, steps, and photos.

Photos on every cooking step
Snap your own pictures during cooking and attach them to each step. Next time you make the same dish, you will see your own shots and remember exactly how you did it last time.

IMPROVEMENTS AND FIXES

Higher accuracy for AI-generated nutrition data. Added strict plausibility checks, so a recipe no longer ships with zero carbs or other obvious errors.

Saved recipes no longer lose their calorie and macro data when you reopen them for editing.

Step-by-step cooking now correctly highlights the matching ingredient photo even when the AI rewords the ingredient name slightly.

Inventory refreshes properly after you change a product's photo.

Shopping list search no longer toggles the wrong item when you check off a purchase.

Dozens of small interface, typography, and stability polish.

If you have feedback or questions, reach out from the in-app settings. We read every message.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-05-01

What's new:

• Recipe nutrition is now consistently shown per 100 g across the entire app
• Adding missing products to your catalog is more stable — no more cells jumping around when you open a recipe
• Ingredient units and "Permanent list" now follow your language settings automatically
• Auto-retries on AI requests no longer charge credits twice
• Active subscriptions are detected faster — Pro upsells are hidden for subscribers
• Many small UI and stability improvements

### 1.0.1 — 2026-04-25

This update brings a much richer visual experience across the app.

- Added default images for categories and products
- Added custom photos for recipes, products, and categories
- Recipe cards and recipe details now show better visuals, including ingredient images
- Shopping and inventory lists now display product images
