There are too many fields to navigate to get anything done. It is possible to save exact settings presets, but this is a slow process and they are hidden in a menu. If you actually use the FX presets (I doubt I will) controlling these though the app is a lot easier than with the controls on the lights themselves. I think I will keep using the controls on the light, unless it is in a hard to reach place. The security to get into this app, every time I try to use it is ridiculous. It doesn’t follow the usual iPhone protocol of saving passwords and is very confusing. But you would be wrong. This app is for dozens of Home products that have nothing to do with professional video, they really seem to want you to register your email just to use the app, but you can use it in guest mode, although I never got it to work at all in anyway. But it seems like even if I had gotten it to work, it would be 10 steps to get into the app and recall a preset. I have to plan additional time during setup to troubleshoot the inevitable SmallGoGo app errors. Internet access seems to be required each time the app is used. You have to click a button and wait for a code to be emailed to you. This is ridiculous. Dadurch besteht leider auch keine Möglichkeit das RM75 auf den neuesten Stand zu bringen. With Smallrig light RC120D is worthless. ### 2/5 — Changing Multiple lights is a chore *2024-07-23, version 2.0.2* I have multiple Smallrig lights and thought using this app would help getting everything set up from one place but it’s more of a hindrance. If you set a light up, go to the next and then back to the first it will change all the settings to the last light you altered meaning you’re constantly having to readjust, you’re better off doing it manually and ignoring the app altogether ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Extremely basic and lacks speed and stability *2026-07-27, version 2.2.4* I’ve been using SmallRig lights for over four years, and I can honestly say the GoGo app is the biggest disappointment in their entire ecosystem. SmallRig advertises that their lights are app controllable. Technically that’s true, but the experience is so frustrating that I usually avoid using the app altogether. The biggest problem is controlling multiple lights. I’ll connect to one light, make my adjustments, then switch to another light, and it often resets or carries over settings from the previous light instead of simply showing the settings for the one I’m connected to. It makes working with multiple lights incredibly frustrating. It gets even worse if I don’t use my lights for a week or two. I usually have to reset everything and pair all of my lights again. Even after doing that, they often fail to connect or take forever. Every shoot starts with fighting the app instead of setting up my lighting. The app is painfully slow and unreliable. It feels like all of SmallRig’s attention has gone into supporting their microphones while the lighting side has been left behind. As someone who has invested in several of their lights, that’s incredibly disappointing. The best comparison I can make is this: it’s like selling someone a sports car that technically has four wheels and a steering wheel, but it’s the slowest car on the road. Sure, it qualifies as a sports car, but nobody would actually enjoy driving it. The frustrating part is that the hardware is actually great. The lights themselves have served me well. The app is what lets the entire experience down. If I could give this app zero stars, I would. It doesn’t need a few bug fixes. Die App macht einen guten Eindruck. ### 5/5 — Funziona benissimo *2025-09-15, version 2.2.0* Questa nuova versione sembrava non funzionare più, ma ho chiesto al team, che mi ha indicato i passaggi da seguire, con precisione: 1) accedere all’app con un log in 2) pressione lunga sul tasto reset del COB 3) selezionare “light” in alto a sx. sull’app 4) selezionare “add equipment” 5) mettere spunta sulla luce e premere “confirm”. Fine. Se si vuole pilotare le luci in maniera indipendente una dall’altra: premere il pulsante in basso a dx nell’app appena lanciata. This app can on top of that control multiple lights via Bluetooth. That‘s a big plus & makes the hardware well worth the money. I just wish the software UI would be as accessible as the hardware UI. Held the reset button down until it started flashing and the app saw the unit, I paired them and was able to do anything I wanted with it. No issues. Only thing I found interesting was if I manually adjusted it and then kicked it back on with the app it went to the last app settings and didn’t leave the manual settings on.
