### 4/5 — Charts are not calculating correctly

*2026-01-02, version 2.0.6*

This was easy to set up and it seems to be accurately monitoring my oil level. The only issue I’m having is that the dashboard that shows how many days before 1/4 or 1/8 of a tank does not calculate correctly since it’s using an hourly rate instead of a daily rate. Overall I’m pretty happy so far.

### 4/5 — Needs outdoor temperature monitoring

*2025-10-15, version 2.0.6*

Great product and easy to install. Love the metrics but would be absolutely amazing if the graph simply added outdoor temperature to understand increased usage to temp metrics.

### 4/5 — Blind Accessibility

*2024-07-25, version 2.0.1*

First, I love this product, being blind it gives me a way to keep track of the oil level of the tank. Second, it also keeps track of the battery level so when the battery level is low, you know it's time to replace the batteries.
One thing I wish they would update on the app is the login, would be nice to be able to just use facial recognition, or touch ID to get into the app quickly instead of going into passwords, verifying and then tapping on the proper password for the app login would be nice if we could get that everything in place just needs to be done.
Otherwise, thank you for this product. Makes my life a whole lot simpler and a whole lot more stress-free.

### 4/5 — Good App but Needs Easy Seller Reviewability

*2023-01-01, version 2.0.1*

I was estatic when they added push notifications. It really increased the quality-of-life when using the app.

I’ve tried to review sellers before after trying some sellers a couple of times and I cannot find a way within the app to do so. I imagine it must be done by logging into Fuelsnap’s website which is inconvenient when you have the app in your hand all the time.

Feature Request:
Add a very minimal transaction history button that shows on the “Oil Prices/Buy Oil” page of the app. If you click said button, you see a summary of your past orders by date, seller name, total gallons ordered, price per gallon and total transaction cost. There can be a review button on this area to ensure that reviewers have indeed bought from the seller in question before leaving a review.

### 4/5 — Easy install

*2020-11-23, version 1.4.2*

5 min to install and 5 min to set it up. Love the concept and tank level email notifications so I can order more without running out. The app is a little clunky and could use an update to improve functionality, similar to other review comments. Usage tracking, graph functions, on screen notifications, etc.

### 4/5 — Time

*2020-04-04, version 1.4.2*

It would be nice if I can change the time I don’t understand army time

### 3/5 — Awesome app

*2020-02-08, version 1.4.2*

Been using this for two weeks I got a replenishment of oil but the reading caps out at 234 even though I have a 275 gallon tank. What’s up with that? I was raising cane with my oil delivery guy saying he short changed me. Now I am apologizing for this device bad reading. Taking off two stars for this

### 4/5 — App

*2020-01-21, version 1.4.2*

Works great most of the time. At time wont let me log into the app. Wish it would let you look at the previous day

### 4/5 — Great App - Would Like to Download Data

*2019-11-30, version 1.4.0*

Excellent app. Anyway you can add a feature which would allow users to have data emailed to them in a .CSV file?

### 4/5 — Had an issue that they quickly resolved

*2019-11-13, version 1.3.1*

Took off a star because I had an issue. Gave 4 because it worked flawlessly until the issue and then customer service called me and worked quickly to fix it. I value customer service and theirs was terrific. Technology is never perfect. It’s the response to an issue that I judge.

### 4/5 — Some improvements needed

*2019-01-16, version 1.3.0*

Simple app. I love the capability to see how much oil is in the tank and track my usage, but the app could use some updates to improve the functionality of it. One way to add improvements to the app is to allow the ability to view daily usage from previous days, not just the current day.

### 3/5 — I like the app but

*2019-01-07, version 1.3.0*

There needs to be an immediate snapshot button after you get fuel so you don't have to change interval to 1, then back to 24. I would also like to possibly get a summary report on the bottom or top of how much we're using per day/week/month instead of opening calculator. Also I'd like to drag my finger instead of tapping. Thanks, this would make life easier.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App no longer works

*2024-01-02, version 2.0.1*

Can log into their website but this app is toast.

### 1/5 — Constantly logged out

*2023-11-21, version 2.0.1*

If you are following modern security practices, you have a unique password for every site/service stored in a password wallet.

You’ll feel the pain with this app as whenever you need it, you are greeted with “authentication error, please login again”

Why can’t this app stay logged in? The majority of applications on iPhone stay authenticated for YEARS.

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2023-09-19, version 2.0.1*

I have horizontal 275 tank. On 9-1 I had 100 gallons oil added on top of 130 already in the tank. First three days reading didn’t change. 4th day it increased to 150. After three weeks today 9-19 it has been fluctuating between 135 and 190 few times a day for last three days. I have been getting notifications for “half tank” or “looks like you got oil delivered”. I spoke with company they said this is the limitation of sensor for flat tank at higher levels but box and setup pamphlet doesn’t say it.
Disappointed because it’s a very expensive gauge.

### 1/5 — Never got it to link up.

*2023-02-22, version 2.0.1*

I tried the directions, on off and other methods. Nope. It saw my WiFi but failed every attempt to connect.

### 1/5 — Error when trying to add via app

*2020-12-19, version 1.4.2*

Keep getting “there was an error getting configuration data” during installation

### 2/5 — Reliability

*2022-11-09, version 2.0.1*

The device connects to my Wi-Fi just fine but keeps dropping offline. It is the only device out of 47 connected to my Wi-Fi that does that, so you can judge for yourself.

### 2/5 — Last update broke the app...

*2019-11-09, version 1.3.1*

The gauge will no longer update oil level since the last app update. I now have to go through the entire setup process to see an updated oil level. Also, it would be nice to be able to modify WiFi settings easily from within the app itself without going through the entire setup process.

### 2/5 — Latest update fail

*2019-10-17, version 1.3.1*

The old version had a graph that showed use by the day week month. This latest version is broken and there is no graph. Disappointed as this app had one job and they released it without testing it. Oct 2019

### 3/5 — OK oil gauge does not work

*2023-02-26, version 2.0.1*

Try setting it follow the directions several times I’m at the point to shoot myself with it. It just doesn’t want to read the tag. It always says no tag sensor no tank I don’t know what’s wrong probably going to call up and speak to somebody.

### 3/5 — great product but app could use some additional features to be really useful

*2021-03-08, version 1.4.2*

It’s great to be able to check latest usage and be notified when to order oil. However without the ability to look at prior months/weeks or years you are not able to determine if your usage is going up or down over time, which would be very helpful.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — GAME CHANGER

*2024-12-28, version 2.0.1*

My mom became an expert at guesstimating when we needed oil. When she passed away, I ran out 2x and had to have to boiler bled which costs more money. I found this Smart Gauge and that hasn’t happened since. I also haven’t been brand loyal to one company. I love being able to choose my oil company based on the best price available. My usual company’s price is usually $40-50 higher than the lowest price. I have 2 improvements for the update. The option to share gauge info or have the option of more than one email on an account. Also, the option to save history of purchases and successful deliveries within the app. I would like to the ability to look back at my history.

### 5/5 — A smart decision

*2022-01-12, version 2.0.1*

Buying and installing the smart oil gauge was a great decision. I love to be able to monitor my tank with the app and getting alerts when I’m running low. Best part is how easy is to order oil via the app, shopping for the best price available in my area. Yes, the app interface could be nicer and have a better user interface, but it works. It is interesting for me to learn how much oil I consume and changing that with small adjustments to the thermostat target temperature.

### 5/5 — Installed mine a few years ago

*2019-12-16, version 1.4.0*

I was able to find this system a while back. It was very easy to install and setup. Took no longer then 10 minutes. Since then they have been updating the app with features that have been very helpful. Being someone from the south, now in the NE, I was terrified of heating bills. This system allows me to see how much fuel I’m using on a daily basis. It has allowed me to set my thermostat to a comfortable level while saving fuel.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2019-12-12, version 1.4.0*

I’ve ran out of oil before and I don’t want to do that again! This product is amazing. Just remember to set up your phone/email notifications. A nice feature would be a banner notification from the app.

### 5/5 — Good product, good app

*2019-11-15, version 1.3.1*

Tech support is excellent. My tank is an odd size (230 gal), they helped me configure it and my device is reporting flawlessly. The app does just what it needs to. Nice to see trending and know what my fuel supply is from anywhere. It would be nice to have the option to configure my text/email alarms from the app instead of the website, but it’s not a deal breaker.

### 5/5 — Very clever idea

*2019-01-04, version 1.3.0*

While I agree with other reviewers who want more flexibility in display graph info, that’s a first-world problem. And it doesn’t detract from the fundamental fact that this is one helluva good idea. I wish there were more connected sensors like this available. I’d instrument everything in my home!

Two cautions: first DO NOT put this device on your “real” WiFi network. Get two old routers and connect them with your current router in a “Y” configuration. Then add this to your designated IOT router. Who knows the vulnerabilities that might be in the (unidentified) WIFi chip the developer used. There’s no doc on the site and it’s unlikely that firmware will ever be updated on the device. I don’t want my oil gauge to be a back door into my network.

Second, the developer uses WordPress for the site and user management. This is insecure. Be sure to associate the gauge with a dedicated email address.

### 5/5 — Great product

*2018-12-11, version 1.3.0*

I just love it when a product works as designed. Well done, thank you

### 5/5 — I really want to love this thing, but.

*2018-10-20, version 1.3.0*

So I was so excited to get this. But after a couple days of use there some major drawbacks. The device itself has not refreshed once without me having to tap the button for half a second located on the sensor itself. I have waited a full 24 hours with no refresh. The refresh button in the app is more of a placebo. It doesn’t refresh the information or seem to send a signal to the unit asking it to run the sensor. So you only get the update your sensor has refreshed at the interval set. As for the graphs and usage there’s no ability to zoom in nor does it have a summary of total usage. You have to tap your finger in one area and hope that’s where you want the line to be for that part of the usage. This gives you in very small print your usage numerical value. There is also no ability to delete the device and add it again in case you are having trouble and troubleshooting. In configuration You can change the intervals of how often it takes a reading, but it doesn’t seem to have any effect. I have not gotten a single refresh signal from the device after 3 days of use. I really like this concept and design and am hoping for improvements. Hopefully this review acts as a a way to make future updates.

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2018-01-08, version 1.1.0*

Exactly what I’ve been looking for! Seems to work great. Only suggestion is instead of gph for usage, perhaps just how much was used for a given time (ex 4.5 gallons for the day, etc.)

### 5/5 — Best way to track your oil tank

*2017-05-06, version 1.0*

This wifi oil level gage is a fantastic product. It's easy to install in the tank, you can watch your tank level from anywhere, now even more easily with the app. You'll never have to rely on the oil company again, and they've proven pretty unreliable at times. Connected Consumer Fuel is a very responsive company with a great product. If you have oil heat, you need it.
