And I’d have much rather kept the free ads to use the bare minimum free version TBH. At the moment I’m pretty annoyed bcuz I can’t even use any free services at all even the bare minimum without being forced to pay. I didn’t get an email for an update so here I am trying to upload just my gas receipts. And it won’t let me for the new month of August as I can’t create a new month. I can’t even look at a basic report just to see how much gas I use cause all I use it is for my vehicle so I have to pay $50/annual (which adds up with other subscription I also need) to keep my gas receipts, so I’m a little disappointed and I’ll have to find a different app to use because it’s not worth paying a subscription when I use it for the bare minimum for just my vehicle. Otherwise it’s a nice app, the developer has done an amazing job upgrading it. ### 4/5 — Entering Negative Values *2026-07-27, version 5.19.1* I like using this app to track expenses. Prior to the last update I was able to enter negative entries to reflect returns. Now when I try to enter a negative amount it defaults to -0-. I hope they can allow for negative entries. ### 3/5 — Recent UI changes suck *2026-07-20, version 5.19.0* Please bring back the ability to slide over an object to see delete/move/etc. having the pop is annoying. Also annoying to have the pop up you have to press open on from the expense report list. All the latest ui changes could please be rolled back ### 3/5 — Almost perfect *2026-06-16, version 5.17.1* The only problem is you can’t use the app to register your incomes and see a comparación between months expenses, must of the apps really don’t have the photo option and this one does have it but unfortunately is not like for personal finances if you don’t have income option ### 2/5 — Free option is getting worse with every update *2026-06-03* The basic free version used to be fantastic if you just needed an easy way to compile receipts into one pdf. With every update they continue to degrade the free option, make it less user friendly, and try to push you into a subscription. I would have considered subscribing if I needed more features, but now I’ll switch to a different app completely rather than pay them a dime. I reinstalled the app on the new phone but it doesn’t show any of my receipts. Now everything is lost ### 4/5 — Helpful app *2026-04-14, version 5.15.0* I like it. Don’t have to save receipts. ### 1/5 — This looks like it’d be the perfect product but… *2026-03-13* I can’t get information about the product, the differences in the plans, etc. I can see several subscription offers. What’s the difference? Can’t find that info. Tried finding out more on my Mac, since that’s an easier interface for sending email. Entered a support ticket in their interface, which I can access without logging in. I should say tried to enter as after I typed up the questions I was told I was blocked. So, with so many unknowns, I cancelled the free trial. Again, it looks like the product I want. But so many questions, and so few answers. I don’t mind paying for a product if it meets my needs. But can’t tell if it does or doesn’t. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! The only difference between the Free and Pro Versions is that Free users receive basic receipt entry and report generation. Pro Users get the whole package, including account syncing and a web version of the app. We are available directly via support@smartreceipts.app if you require further assistance. ### 1/5 — DO NOT DOWNLOAD *2026-03-02, version 5.14.3* when i downloaded it it never worked and i was like oh well it doesn’t work so ima just delete it but NO it won’t let me delete it SO DONT DOWNLOAD ### 3/5 — Vendor report *2026-02-13, version 5.14.2* Can’t seem to generate single vendor report. ### 1/5 — The app will accept scan receipts but *2026-02-13, version 5.14.2* It will scan your business expenses, but will Not And cannot produce a report.. sucks because I scanned businesses receipts and now for tax purposes the app will Not Produce A report as expected… Not good ### 2/5 — Hopefully they get there *2026-01-29* I found this not intuitive to use. First of all I opened the app, hit the plus button & scanned my 30 receipts, THEN found no way to add them to a report. So then I tried making the report first and adding the receipts by **rescanning**(!) them. Unfortunately I accidentally hit something on about receipt 18 that pushed me out of the adding receipts process and so all those second scans seemed to be lost as well. Also, the pro version should use the daily exchange rate as a default, not make me hit “pro” on every receipt. The scan & read receipt option seems to struggle finding the white border of the receipt. I ended up adjusting for most scans unless they were tiny. After scanning 30 or so receipts, I accidentally misclicked and ‘no’ to scanning a new receipt and instead of saving the receipts I already scanned, it just erased everything or didn’t save it. Regardless, pointless app since it can’t do what it’s literally named to do. Definitely not worth the $100 annual subscription. ### 1/5 — The Japanese receipt scanning function has stopped working. *2026-07-21* Since last month, scanning Japanese receipts has been producing nonsensical OCR results. This is an insult to our paying Japanese users. I don't want to use it anymore. I uploaded all my receipts from the month and then went to generate a report, but you have to create a report FIRST and then put in your receipts that you want on the report. Seems completely counterintuitive. It is NOT user friendly - you have to click around all over the place even to get back to your receipts if you’ve not put them into a specific report. Developers seem to be inexperienced. It means having to re-scan them virtually every time. Realized you’d have to manually put in every single information, or pay $99/yr for OCR extraction🙄.
