It allows you to control camera shutter up to 50 ft away from a compatible DSLR camera. Using Bluetooth technology to link your DSLR camera to your smart phone, the Smart Trigger allows for precise control of your pictures with three different shooting modes: Regular Shot mode allows your smart phone to act as a wireless shutter for your camera. Simply touch the button on your smart phone to capture a picture – perfect for including the photographer in group shots! Manual Shot mode allows you to take long exposures in bulb mode. The app never recognized the device. I tried multiple times. So I returned it. Satechi was very responsive initially to my difficulty and then to my request to return. ### 1/5 — Company is a scam *2013-12-19* I have not run this program, but I can give you my experience with Satechi. My wife bought me a laser pointer that is supposed to run from the mini jack from my iPhone. The hardware seems nonfunctional, and the software - both for the iPhone and the one that’s supposed to run on my laptop - don’t work. Here’s the problem: you CANNOT contact the company. They refuse to answer emails and every phone call goes to voicemail. They claim to be really busy and will do what they can to call you back, but don’t hold your breath! Save your money. Don’t deal with these people. If they’re not fraudulent, they are too unprofessional to make good on their products. ### 3/5 — Could use some improvements *2013-08-24* Overall it is a decent app. Once you pair the device with the iPhone it works ok in the first two modes. However the Manual mode could do with some improvements. Like other users, when I am doing time lapse photography I find that the intervalometer lacks accuracy. The delays tend to be irregular even when set to a 1s delay (sometimes 2, 3 sec), and sometimes not firing at all. I suspect this has to do with the Bluetooth connection and noise in busy areas. This is especially frustrating when doing time lapse photography during the day. It would also be great if the smallest delay could be less than 1s. Satechi please update this app and improve the connection/signal as well as the functionality. ### 1/5 — Not Up to Satechi Standards *2013-05-27* I bought this for use on a Nikon D7000. It was not up to what I have seen with other products from Satechi. I could not get the device to pair with my iPhone 4. I worked with tech support's help and never could get it to where I could use it. I went back to my wireless Satechi which I really like. My only complaint with anything that plugs into the side of a Nikon is how vulnerable they are to damage. ### 3/5 — Just ok so far w/t4i *2013-05-25* Two simplest modes work well, but I am taking photos to make time lapse videos. I am using the timed shot function and its set to fire off a 4 second exposure with three seconds between photos. The actual photos that are being taken are each getting exposed for between 3 and 5 seconds instead. Each is different, and so my videos look weird and flickery. Batteries only lasted 3 months before I had to change them... Not 10 years. ### 4/5 — Works great… waiting for iOS 6 update though! *2013-03-05* Works really well, and connects to the bt device every time! Only thing I'd can think of that it needs is an update to full screen for iOS 6.
