Never had any issues at all, no connection problems nothing. Then it broke so I instantly bought another one and I’ve had nothing but issues since. The first issue was the new kettle made the water taste like burnt plastic, it was awful, the lid went, you couldn’t open it without digging your nails in the lid. Then the connection decided to stop working. After months of emails I finally got a replacement kettle. The lid works and the water tastes ok but it still won’t connect to the app so it’s just a normal kettle now. Since September, all smart functions and app controlled services on the kettle no longer work. Repeated attempts at contacting support have revealed nothing beyond there’s been an interruption to service and that there is no timeline for restoring it. If 0 stars was available, I’d opt for that. If you’ve bought a kettle in the hopes of using its smart services, my advice is to report them to whatever trading standards, advertising standards groups you can. ### 1/5 — Was working by fine but not anymore *2025-12-21, version 21.5.8* I’m on my 4th Smarter Kettle and also own a Smarter coffee machine but the devices all now say “ device not responding. Please try again later.” Smarter Support have just said they are working on it but it’s been 2 weeks now. Not holding much hope. This no longer works for anyone but brand new kettles (look up Reddit thread). Awful support and gaslighting by their help desk, has been months and no fix for old users to get their kettles reconnected. ### 1/5 — Smarter iKettle 3 is a BRICK *2025-11-01, version 21.5.8* All smart features of kettle no longer work (home feature never worked), no voice control via Siri or Google Assistant, cannot activate kettle via app. Was told there is a problem, no solution timeline offered, was told kettle can still be operated manually to boil water (which is not why I spent the money on a smart kettle). I believe that there were connectivity issue with the iKettle 2 when they were launching iKettle 3, and it looks like iKettle 4 is coming soon, maybe this is a cynical attempt to generate sales. ### 1/5 — This company is going down hill *2025-10-20, version 21.5.8* We have had all 3 versions of their kettles. Their apps were hit and miss, but this one was pretty decent… all their apps got easier to set up with each model. They recently had an internal system issue. Something todo on their end. Apparently they are still connected through their sever, even though you are set up with your network. They had an issue, and refused to help since I bought my kettle locally. Such a disappointment. The kettle just shows as off base in the app. Smarter customer support took 2 months to reply to any queries. I have supported this company for years, purchasing at least 4 kettles in the last 5 years (personal plus gifts). I have always been a fan but they have really started to lose me as a customer and a fan.
