The Smartfire App includes: - Status screen provides a 'single look' status of the pit and food probes - Setup Your Pit screen enables you to dial in your desired target pit temperature, along with high and low threshold alarms and a fan override switch. - Setup Probe screen enables you to choose your target temperatures, alarms and nick names associated with a probe. You select the meat type associated with the probe, ie 'Pork' then either swipe or tap the left/right arrows to change the selection. The options available are Beef, Pork, Chicken, Fish and Custom. Doing a 12 hour pork butt. Connected and up and running in 30 seconds. Can’t help but think it’s cheating. No one needs to know :) Select what you’re cooking and it suggests pit temps and internal temps. I’m now 20 miles from my BJ II monitoring the temps. Amazing. ### 1/5 — Planned Obsolescence??? *2024-02-29, version 3.0.70* Purchased SmartFire in 2019 then told no longer supported in 2022. Was working until most recent App update (late January to Early February 2024) now it cannot be seen in App even though it is connected WiFi (I have a managed system so can see what is connected). Decided to reset WiFi on unit and now I cannot register device at all in App. Seems like a good way to get someone to upgrade so I have…to another brand that looks after their customers. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t want to work *2023-11-15, version 3.0.61* I can’t even login to the app. It wants me to use social but Facebook doesn’t support it. I tried Apple login - never left the login screen. Tried to make a profile with my email address. Wouldn’t let me create it. It used to work, but stopped today mid cook. And now there is now way for me to get it to work. I’ll have to manually control the fire and use my instant read to check temps. After some initial struggles to get it to connect to wifi, I got the app updated and it has worked like a dream ever since and has made smoking meat the easiest thing ever. The online and Facebook community are fantastic for any issues and advice with the developer probably the most active in assistance of any app or software I’ve used. Initial issue pairing but developer provided great support. ### 4/5 — Good, but can be better *2022-07-05, version 3.0.30* Overall it works as designed: the temperatures are good and I can follow the progress nicely on my phone. A couple of things would be nice: 1) put the time on the x-axis of the combined graph. 2) add a stopwatch/timer which I can start and stop manually 3) add a algorithm which tells me what time the food is ready. You have the progress of the temperature, so you can calculate when it reaches the selected temperature.
