I downloaded it and was putting in my information when I was told I would get two days free and then would have to pay to continue. It didn’t say how much. Im very leery of on line purchases ### 1/5 — RV APP? *2023-05-31, version 3.1* This is a truckers app ! It appears to like city traffic. ### 1/5 — Has issues *2022-09-17* Gave us bad directions. We were heading down the Pennsylvania Turnpike and were told to “make a right”, which wasn’t an exit but the access road! Which of course was gated closed so couldn’t use it even if we wanted to. We went 30 minutes further out of our way to get to our destination. ### 1/5 — SmartRVRoute *2021-11-29* I would NOT recommend this app. I got it because we were heading cross country from Lake Ozark to Tupelo, MS. It seemed to work OK to Memphis although I missed a gas stop due to a road name change that had not been made. I also could not find a location for the RV Park, it was in the listing but did not seem to know where it was. The worst part was going through Memphis where it led us onto surface streets in not great condition and traffic lights rather than four lane limited access routes. NOT RV FRIENDLY!!! **Developer response:** Sorry you had difficulty. We want to investigate the route we provided and the settings used on the app during that time. Also routed me through the woods and over a lake. Worse yet, I spent all day (less than 24 hours from purchase) to get a refund and, in the end, they responded “call Apple” I guess I lose my $9.99. So glad I didn’t purchase a bigger subscription. Don’t waste your time. I would have been better off with a paper map. ### 1/5 — Need a subscription *2019-07-26* Would have been nice to know I needed a subscription before I downloaded it. **Developer response:** There is no charge to download. Nothing intuitive about how to simply lug your destination from the beginning! WASTE! **Developer response:** Sorry you didn't like the UI, we tried to keep it simple, all you have to do is enter the address on the top bar where it asks for destination. It cannot locate any address I input. Case in point. I input the Web Developers address TeleType Co. Inc. 44 School Street Boston, MA 02108. Their own app they developed cannot even locate their own address. How stupid is that? Contacted app support & got a very rude male who told me he could not help & insisted I text him my issue which I did last week. No response at all. I’m on a three week rv trip & spent $49.99 for a useless app. I demand a refund! Now! ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Highly Reliable *2023-09-21* My wife and I have been full-time since May 2014. We were not initially aware of SmartRoute; I do not recall exactly when we found it, probably something my wife came across. For us it has saved us a number of times from routes from Google that have vertical clearance issues, weather closures in three round trips from Albany, Oregon to Raleigh, North Carolina with excursions to sightsee or visit family/friends in both directions. It has never failed to get us to/from an Interstate and an RV park without incident or clear routing through a urban area involving multiple interchanges beltways or other interstate highways. **Developer response:** Thank you very much for taking the time to post a positive review. We are delighted to be of help. ### 5/5 — Great for RV travel *2017-10-28* We purchased this when RAnd McNally did away with their RV GPS app. Was very unsure of it with the reviews I read but decided to try it. We LOVE it! We have been traveling for 3 months using it each travel day and it has been wonderful. It is a very good tool for any size RV. You put all of your RV specs into the settings (i.e. Height, weight, length) and it routes according to the best route for your rig. You can choose, most highway, RV quickest, or RV fastest. Very nice. ### 4/5 — Best one so far *2023-06-03* Have used this app for trips across 10 states so far and with one exception, it gave us the best routing for our RV. Verbal and other audio alerts are helpful as is the ability to customize what the map shows and what alerts are received, e.g., truck stops by name and distance. The one exception for good routing took us through a dense urban area for about a mile- there was significant road construction everywhere so that may have been the reason. We look forward to hearing from you. ### 3/5 — Maybe I don’t have it setup correctly *2024-10-15* I live near NY and Connecticut which has Parkways with very low bridges and no trucks or RV’s are allowed. I did use a truck app that did well but no CarPlay. I download this app because it had CarPlay and it is for Rv’s. Now my comments, 1st when you use CarPlay you get the map but no other info unless you look at the phone. Example, how far is it to your exit. If you’re listening to your radio and the app announcement comes on, your radio stops playing until you select it again. Lastly, on my last trip (190 miles) the app lockup 4 times. Good idea for this app but it needs a lot of updating ### 3/5 — OK *2017-01-20* Still commercial truck centered. Limited RV park info and listings, most parks don't display on map. Not sure it's worth $50 a year to be warned of a steep hill. ### 2/5 — Not Free Not Updated for Road conditions *2018-09-06* After entering vehicle info it took us on a route with 5 miles of DIRT road. Waited for 15 minutes for pilot car to lead us 2 miles an hour. No place to turn around to avoid it!! Why charge $50 if you can't give updated road conditions??? Please contact support via text or calling (786) 445-0822. ### 2/5 — RV GPS *2018-07-30, version 1.6* It looks like a great app. I’m very disappointed that I didn’t get to use it because as soon as I asked it to ‘plan route’ it asked me to subscribe. $9.99/7 days, $29.99/? mths or $49.99 yrly. ### 2/5 — Confusing *2017-07-21* We have test run this but at some points very confusing. Following the map portion is okay but when you go to the written instructions to look ahead the prior instructions are still there so you have to search the list to your current location.
