### 3/5 — Needs 64 bit update, especially for use of in-app purchase

*2017-06-04*

Currently app works great in iOS. However it is only 32 bit. Apple is going to phase out 32 bit apps. I paid to upgrade this app and would like it to work in future versions of iOS. Please upgrade to 64 bit.

### 3/5 — Not that satisfactory result

*2016-04-21*

I just tried to photo a music notes sheet in my iphone6 and it did not work. I hope developer can update the app to make it detects better.

### 2/5 — Great idea; needs work.

*2016-04-15*

I tried two methods for the app to 'read' the music. The first time I scanned with my iPhone 6s+. The second time I had a pdf of the song already on my phone. Both times, the playback was inaccurate. Way off. Many missing notes. Perhaps it does not work with 4-part harmony arrangements using shape notes. I'm deleting it since this is the only format I would find useful for learning church choral arrangements.

### 3/5 — Smarts ore Notereader

*2016-01-20*

Smart score Notereader has major problem with Outlook Exchange accounts on the iPhone 6 series (iOS 9.x)...
If you send a score via the paid app, Outlook Exchange becomes unstable, self-canceling with 1-8 second time delay. If, within that time, you can locate and delete the Notereader outbox message, Outlook Exchange returns to normal behavior

### 2/5 — Great potential, poor execution

*2015-06-16*

I have yet to produce a "clean" result. It either says recognition failed, or I get many missing or extraneous notes. The last straw came when I went to app support and found the warning that ALL IPAD cameras were below the recommended 8 Megapixel resolution. If Musitek knows that, then why offer the app for iPad in the first place? I'm deleting this app.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2015-04-07*

This app seems to be good but it does not work well just yet it will be ok if they improve it

### 2/5 — Could be great but needs improvement

*2014-11-30*

This app has the potential to be big around the world with music students, but the developers seem to have given up on it. I was ready to purchase the upgrade and its either very well hidden, or it just can't be upgraded any longer. What a shame.

### 1/5 — Most Useless App I've Ever Purchased

*2014-10-31*

I really really wanted this app to work. I tried multiple times. I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I restarted my phone. It never worked. It wouldn't let me upload any sheet music, I tried multiple, and would crash almost every time. Don't waste your time.

### 1/5 — Useless even if you are willing to pay

*2014-10-17*

I paid $79 for their desktop version so that I can convert PDF into Midi or XML. The desktop version did a great job. My intention was to get the converted output into an iPad app so that I can see the sheet music and being played. This app provides to no such thing which is comptible with my $79 investment. Useless!

### 1/5 — Useless for handwritten scores

*2014-07-23*

I have used version 1.1. With printed scores it works fine. No problem what so ever. With handwritten scores on empty pre printed score paper it's a no go. So nice App but it needs some improvement.

### 1/5 — Don't believe them

*2014-07-16, version 1.1*

This has got to be the worst music reader I've tried so far, out of a whole page of music it picked out about four notes.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Didn’t work at all for me.

*2022-04-21, version 1.2*

On two different printed ( not handwriien) lead sheets.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time

*2022-03-05, version 1.2*

I captured perfectly clear, sharp images. Result? Garbage.

### 1/5 — Just crashes

*2022-01-24*

It works for about 2 seconds then crashes

### 1/5 — Not a shadow of the desktop version

*2021-06-08*

This app badly needs updating, especially given the release of the new M-1 iPad Pro’s. I’ve been using the desktop version for 25 years - and it’s brilliant. This is not a shadow of the desktop. Smartscore: now that iPads have come of age, port your desktop version with full music editing functions to the iPad.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste time downloading.

*2020-06-10*

This app crashes and the one time it did work , it did not even do what it claims, which is turn PDFs into music reader files .

### 1/5 — garbage

*2020-04-30*

this app is so bad i take pictures of the music i need played for me and it crashes everytime the app crashes it’s only worked once for me i don’t recommend it

### 1/5 — Shame!

*2020-01-08, version 1.2*

Over the years I have bought various versions of Smartscore for my Windows PC. I love the Windows version but sadly this app appears to be useless. Such a shame as it appeared to have such potential. Yes it’s free but it’s of no use yet. Come on Musitek!

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2017-11-24, version 1.2*

Doesn’t work. All it does is crash. Will not recognize pdf files. I have an iPhone 6s with iOS 11. Waste of time.

### 1/5 — Love this

*2016-05-24, version 1.1*

Love this!

### 1/5 — Very disappointing

*2016-01-31, version 1.1*

They make it sound as if when you upgrade you can use the Smart score player on your iPhone but actually you can't. You still can't to see the music or select a part or instrument on your phone. You have to do that on the computer. It's surely not worth the money. I wish we could get refunds on The app store. It seems you're always buying a pig in a poke.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great addition to the SmartScore PC program

*2020-01-05, version 1.2*

Very useful to capture a new score into the PC version., quicker than getting a scanner out!
I hope Musitek keep updates flowing, I’d like to be able to display songs in .enf format that I have already compiled.
Still great tool for now...

### 5/5 — Great app but is it an orphan?

*2017-09-08, version 1.1*

I us this app a lot on my iPhone 7 and it works great. Will the app be updated to run on iOS 11? Be a shame if not.

### 5/5 — Great app for learning music

*2016-04-21*

This app is great if you're just learning to play.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2016-02-02*

This is fantastic! I don't know what those other reviews are talking about. I'm a singer who often has to learn music from sheets and very fast. I uploaded my PDF and in 30 seconds had a perfect rehearsal track! I can't believe this is free!

### 5/5 — Works great with PDFs

*2015-06-03, version 1.1*

Tried this app with my iPad 3 - just the free version at first.
Taking photos didn't work so well, but it says that iPad cameras aren't terrific for capturing scores.
Paid for the IAP full meal deal and tried reading PDF scans of sheet music and it was terrific. Went further and exported a scan as a MIDI file, then opened it in my DAW and - presto - worked like a charm. Thank you!

### 5/5 — works great!

*2015-04-21*

I put this app on my ipad air and I use it for practice all of the time. The trick is to make sure that the captured image is good quality.

### 4/5 — Update

*2017-09-20*

Update please!!!!

### 4/5 — Um.. Yes please!

*2014-07-15*

This is great! I haven't looked at all the features of the pay version yet, but if it includes editing function, than I am sold. The score I loaded had some minor errors caused by mistakes in the original. Would be perfect with "tweaking" capability!

### 3/5 — Not perfect but it is more intelligent than I have expected

*2024-09-16, version 1.2*

Great app to quickly recognize music sheets and playback. Paid version is required to export but it is a worthwhile feature to have, happy to pay for it. Did few simple scans and although missed a few items but overall it was very good. Make sure music sheet is clean and capture with proper lighting.

Unfortunately, PDF scan didn’t work, prompted recognition error without any further info, remove more more star due to this.

Would be nice if able to incorporate SmartScore Player into this, or create a iPad version of the player. It was great to be able to export .enf files but makes no sense to open and/or play on a PC/Mac, who would put a laptop on a piano?

### 3/5 — Needs Update

*2017-09-04*

Works well enough under iOS 10 (though still kind of clunky). Unfortunately, iOS 11 is coming in less than a month and according to reports it needs an update to function. I hope they decide to update the interface as well when they update to work with the new OS.
