### 1/5 — Paywall

*2026-03-17*

You gotta pay 34 sum dollars to even up the app.

**Developer response:** We hear you! However, we actually offer a 7-Day Free Rescue Trial so you can see the results for yourself before spending a single cent. We built SmartScroll to help you reclaim years of your life from addictive algorithms. If the app helps you save just one hour of 'brainrot' a day, the subscription pays for itself in minutes. We’re an independent team fighting billion-dollar social media companies, your support is what keeps the rescue mission alive! 🧠⚡️

### 2/5 — Great potential, bad pricing.

Smart Scroll seems like a great app that has amazing potential. It can help you replace your usual doomscrolling session on TikTok with quick readings that help you learn a little. Here’s the problem, though: It runs off of a subscription. You are expected to pay 25$ a year, while TikTok itself is free. Here’s my recommendation: copy TikTok’s way. I notice that TikTok makes money by having short sponsorships in the middle of their scrolling session. You could maybe give the viewers a short ad every few scrolls, and maybe make premium an “ad-free” option rather than a “must buy for unlimited use” option.

**Developer response:** Hey, thanks for taking the time to share this.

You’re totally right that paying for an app while TikTok feels “free” is a hard sell, especially for something that’s meant to replace doomscrolling with something better.

We genuinely valued your recommendation and we actually made changes because of it. Smart Scroll is now free to use. Instead of forcing a subscription or throwing ads into the experience, we added a daily limit. We wanted it to stay clean and enjoyable, because nobody likes ads and we don’t either.

If you have a minute to try the updated version and you feel like it addresses the concern you raised, we’d be really grateful if you considered updating your review to reflect the changes.

### 5/5 — caught me mid scroll

*2026-04-11*

opened it during setup and it immediately hit me how automatic this habit is. i wasn’t even thinking, just scrolling. the whole interruption idea feels a bit annoying but in a way that actually makes you stop for a second. didn’t expect that. curious to see if it sticks.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the thoughtful feedback.

What you described, opening an app and scrolling without thinking, is exactly the behavior SmartScroll is designed to address. The brief interruption is intentionally placed at that moment to create a small pause and bring awareness back before the habit continues.

We aim for a balance where the experience is noticeable enough to make you stop, but not disruptive enough to push you away. Long term impact depends on consistency, seeing the interruption at the same point in the loop over time.
