If you get a single household interior wall or more than 20 feet between your phone and the thermometer, it disconnects. It basically only works if you’re so close that you could see the screen and don’t need Bluetooth anymore ### 1/5 — Terrible - won’t remain connected *2020-06-08* Had high hopes. Should have read the other reviews. As in would not even turn on. Tried changing batteries, no joy. Exchanged for a cheaper gas mate thermo and have had no problems. Timer function also stopped working at some point during cook and reset to zero. As other reviewer mentioned, blue tooth range is terrible - 10m distance at best. Overall very disappointed. I have a wireless probe that cost half the price and works flawlessly. If your considering buying one of these, think again. ### 1/5 — Won’t pair *2019-04-30, version 1.3.2* Works great if it pairs, but it takes longer than cooking the turkey to make that happen. ### 1/5 — Loses Bluetooth Connection *2019-02-26* I am less than 30 feet from the thermometer and I constantly keep losing Bluetooth connection. Battery is good and range is supposed to be up to 90 feet! Range that it states is a load of rubbish. 8-10 meters at best 2. Temperatures are accurate for meats I have cooked (Rib Fillet / Pork / Lamb / Chicken). All meat cooked to perfection. 3. Bad lack of foresight- I first bought one and it cooked my meat so successfully I purchased another two but alas I have to use a 3 phones to keep track. Developer please change your App to allow for more than one device. 4. Colour coding for devices. When you are cooking with three devices it is hard to figure which probe wire is for which meat. 5. The SmartThermo makes a very average BBQ cook look like a cooking guru. The downside to this is that your guests love the meat so much they come back for more and more and costs you a small fortune in meat. 6. I have no issues with pairing/ battery usage / app working. To developer - if you want to sell more of this product put your hand in your pocket and spend a few dollars getting your App right. ### 1/5 — Very bad range *2018-09-18* Range is about 5m less if there is a wall in the way, waste of time ### 3/5 — Medium rare *2018-09-18* Does what it says BUT can’t see a history or the previous cooking graph, time and temps ect. Sometimes it disconnects in the middle of a cook and can’t see the data from before. Connection is like rocket science. Had to figure it out for 30 minutes before it registered a temperature of 575 degrees Celsius in my chicken breast. Buy something else please! I wasted $50 on this!!!! ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2026-06-15* Not only does the thermometer not work, but the app gives zero information on why it’s not working. Not on new phone though *2025-06-29* Used to be great until upgrading to new phone. Now profile buttons are at top of screen under camera and you can’t change profiles or settings. What’s really frustrating is that you can’t use the probe without the app. It can connect to the base station, but won’t register temperature without the app. The app failed to connect so many times even after I uninstalled and installed again, that I gave up. Reads the desired temp but not the current temp, constantly disconnecting even though I’m 10 feet away, etc. Read multiple reviews that are experiencing the same problems. Waste of money ### 1/5 — Won’t switch from C* *2025-01-01* It seems to work at providing an accurate reading but it defaults to Celsius. I go into the settings change to Fahrenheit but it will revert back to Celsius within 5 seconds. There is also an issue with staying connected to the app. I’m 10 ft from the smoker and it just keeps dropping at times. ### 1/5 — Useless *2024-12-25* The menus buttons are behind the camera on IOS so it barely works. So you buy an expensive thermometer and can’t set the temperature alarms to let you know when it is getting close. We are making a tenderloin and I want to know when it’s at 100 or another temperature to start side dishes but it doesn’t even let you do that. The preprogrammed temperatures are higher than we use but you can’t customize them. Very disappointed. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — others reviewers are wrong this thing rocks *2020-04-15* i got given this thermometer to me as a gift and thought eh looks kinda cool. i’ll try it out . i absolutely love it . stick it in the meat then go chill on the couch . flip meat . set desired temp and wait for the alarm while watching it rise . perfect meat every time . i’ve used on the stove top and grill. i would def buy again if this one ever breaks down on me. ### 5/5 — Works great *2018-12-11* It paired quickly with my ET-737 had no problems,,, set my own profile temp and seems to be working great so far !!!!! ### 5/5 — App works properly with Meat probe *2017-03-18* This app works properly with the Matador smart Thermometer (purchased from Bunnings). Could be some nice improvements like a graph of temperature and an estimate of when it will reach the set temperature.
