## What is SmartWake?

Alarms go off at a fixed time. SmartWake goes off at the right moment.

Set the latest time you must be up and a window of up to 30 minutes. During that window, your Apple Watch reads your movement and heart rate. The moment you drift into light sleep, it wakes you with a silent tap on your wrist. If that moment never comes, it wakes you at your set time. Never later.

WHY IT WORKS
Waking from light sleep is easier than being pulled out of deep sleep. You get up with less struggle, from the same amount of sleep.

HOW IT WORKS
- Pick your latest wake-up time and a window (10–30 minutes).
- Wear your watch to sleep. SmartWake monitors movement and heart rate during the window only.
- A quiet, repeating tap wakes you at the best moment — silent, so it never wakes your partner.
- A backup alert always fires at your latest time. You will not oversleep.
- Once armed, everything runs on the watch. Your iPhone can stay in another room.

ON YOUR IPHONE
- Set up the alarm and review your sleep statistics.
- Arm and disarm with Siri Shortcuts.
- Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, plus a Control Center toggle.
- A Live Activity with Dynamic Island support shows the alarm while it's armed.

ON YOUR WATCH
- Smart Stack and watch-face widgets take you straight to the alarm.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No servers, no account, no ads, no analytics. Your heart rate is read on the watch and used there to time your alarm. Alarm data and statistics stay on your devices.

DETAILS
- Requires an Apple Watch (Series 4 or later) for the alarm itself. watchOS 10.6 and iOS 18.6 or later.
- Uses Apple Health (read-only) for heart rate. Revoke access anytime in the Health app.
- Monitoring runs only during your wake window, so battery impact stays small.
- Available in 22 languages.

SmartWake does one thing: it finds the best moment to wake you, and it never misses your deadline.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-09-29

NEW
• Night summary: tap any recent night in Statistics to see what woke you, when you started to stir, and your movement and heart rate through the wake window.
• Morning check-in: after the alarm, your Apple Watch asks how you woke up. Statistics then compare how smart wakes felt with wakes at your latest time.
• Bedtime: set a sleep goal and an optional nightly wind-down reminder in Settings → Bedtime.
• PDF sleep report: share a printable report of your nights from Statistics. The CSV export now lives in Settings → Data.
• Backup Only: Apple Watch can only start a smart wake while SmartWake is open on it. When an alarm is set from your iPhone, a widget or Siri, SmartWake now tells you everywhere that smart wake isn't on yet, and reminds you at bedtime so you can turn it on with one tap. Your backup alarm still rings.

IMPROVED
• More accurate wake detection: a single bump against the mattress no longer counts as light sleep, and short windows, including snoozes, can now wake you at the right moment.
• Your watch keeps two months of nights instead of one.
• When your watch is out of reach, Statistics tells you how to bring them up to date.

FIXED
• In rare cases, an alarm you had turned off could st
• If the watch alarm stopped unexpectedly while ringing, the backup alarm now takes over.
• A one-time alarm could set itself again for the nex
• Widgets, the watch face complication and the Live Activity now update right away when you change an alarm's time.
• "Wake Me Now" tapped long after an alarm no longer statistics.
• Statistics left open overnight now pick up the morning's wake.
• Better contrast and VoiceOver support.

### 1.5 — 2026-09-24

NEW STATISTICS
• A single ring shows how often SmartWake woke you in light sleep, next to the number of nights it's based on.
• The weekly chart shows each night as the wake window you set, filled in with how many minutes early SmartWake woke you.
• iPhone, Apple Watch and Siri now use the same design and always show the same numbers.
• Works better with larger text sizes and VoiceOver.

A MORE RELIABLE BACKUP ALARM
• The backup alarm now breaks through Sleep Focus and other Focus modes.
• If your watch ends the alarm session on its own, SmartWake keeps trying to wake you instead of treating it as dismissed.
• On a new install, the backup alarm waits until you've allowed notifications, and SmartWake tells you if it couldn't be scheduled.

FIXES
• Live Activities now appear on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
• Lock Screen widgets no longer appear blank.
• Alarms set just after midnight are now listed under the right day.
• The weekly chart no longer drops a night after a daylight saving time change.
• An alarm you've turned off or changed can no longer ring from an earlier session.
• Using "Wake Me Now" before your wake window opens no longer throws off your averages, and a night can no longer be counted twice.
• Clear Statistics no longer deletes nights recorded after you tapped it, and older data from your watch can no longer overwrite newer data on your iPhone.
• Widget and Control Center buttons now tell you when your watch can't be reached.
• Siri shortcut phrases now work in every language Sm"Arm Alarm" shortcut keeps a 5-minute wake windowinstead of changing it to 10.
• The Health permission prompt on Apple Watch is now
• Widgets now refresh only when something changes, which saves battery.

### 1.4 — 2026-09-17

Repeat days for every alarm.

• Pick the days — each alarm now repeats on any set of weekdays instead of a single "every day" switch. Presets for Every Day, Weekdays and Weekends, or clear every day to make it a one-time alarm.
• See it everywhere — alarm rows, the armed banner, the iPhone status card and the widgets all show the repeat ("Daily", "Weekdays", "Mon Wed Fri"), and now name the weekday when your next wake is more than a day away.
• Siri and Shortcuts — the "Arm Alarm" action's Repeat Daily switch became a Repeat option (Keep Current, Never, Every Day, Weekdays, Weekends). It defaults to Keep Current, so an automation that only changes the wake time won't wipe the days you picked.
• Accessibility and translations — alarm toggles and the watch time picker now carry proper VoiceOver labels, and every string, including the Shortcuts actions, ships in all 22 languages.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-11

Multiple alarms are here.

• Create as many smart alarms as you like — each with its own latest wake time, wake window, and daily repeat.
• Turn any alarm on or off right from the list on your Apple Watch or iPhone, or swipe to delete one.
• Widgets, the Control Center toggle, Siri and the Live Activity now follow whichever alarm comes next.
• Your existing alarm carries over to the new list, so nothing is lost when you update.
• Reliability fixes: a disabled alarm can't ring, stopping an early wake won't bring a second ring, and your alarms survive an overnight relaunch.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-04

Statistics on your wrist
Your sleep history now lives on Apple Watch: total alarms, optimal wakes,
success rate, average minutes woken early, and your last five nights —
no iPhone needed.

Repeating alarms you can trust
Daily alarms now survive the night even when watchOS shuts the app down in
the background. Your alarm stays armed, smart wake detection keeps running,
and the alarm re-arms itself for the next morning.

Also fixed
• Waking early no longer triggers a second alarm minutes later.
• A cancelled alarm stays cancelled, even after a restart.
• Alarm status stays in sync between Apple Watch and iPhone.
• Your iPhone no longer misses nights recorded while it was out of range.
