## What is SMBDrop?

SMBDrop backs up photos, videos and files from your iPhone to your own SMB share: a NAS, a home server, a Windows or macOS shared folder, or Samba on Linux. Transfers go straight from your phone to your server over your network. No SMBDrop account, no cloud, no subscription. Pay once.

Built for people who run their own storage at home or in the office.

BACK UP YOUR PHOTOS
• Pick photos and videos from your library: albums, multi-select, Select All, or drag to select a range
• Original quality: SMBDrop sends the original bytes, including both halves of a Live Photo
• Automatic Backup sends new photos and videos to one share when you open the app; it may also run overnight while charging when iOS allows it
• Date folders: file new photos into YYYY/MM folders per share
• Album folders: photos in one of your albums go into a folder named after the album
• Files already on the share with the same name and size are skipped, and the summary tells you how many
• A different file with the same name is never overwritten

FREE UP SPACE SAFELY
• After a send, Review Uploaded Photos lets you choose which originals to delete from Photos
• Nothing is selected for you, and only photos whose upload fully finished can be picked

SEND ANYTHING
• Choose any files with Apple's Files picker and send them unchanged
• Use SMBDrop from the share sheet in Photos, Files and other apps that share photos, videos or files
• Transfers keep going after you leave the app, with progress on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and a notification when they finish or fail
• The screen stays on while a send runs in the app
• A durable queue survives interruptions, failed items can be retried, and errors say what actually went wrong

PULL FILES BACK
• Browse your shares' folders and download files onto your iPhone
• Imports are checked for the right file size and never overwrite an existing file
• Preview, share, save media to Photos or send imported files on to another share
• Everything lands in Files, On My iPhone, so other apps can use it too

SET UP IN SECONDS
• Enter your server's address and sign-in, then let Find Shares list the real share names
• Browse to the exact folder you want before saving
• Custom ports are supported
• Passwords are stored only in your iPhone's Keychain

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No SMBDrop account, no subscription, no ads
• Optional anonymous usage counts, not linked to you and never used for ads. Turn them off in Settings
• Your files and passwords never touch a third-party server

Works on bigger and foldable iPhone screens and in landscape, with light, dark and tinted app icons.

Works with most NAS devices (Synology, QNAP, TrueNAS, UGREEN and others), Windows and macOS file sharing, and Samba on Linux. Needs an SMB server you can reach from your network and iOS 17 or later.
