## What is Smiling Chili?

Smiling Chili makes it easy to save, organize, plan and cook your meals — all in one place.

IMPORT RECIPES INSTANTLY
See a recipe you like on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube? Just share it with the Smiling Chili app without leaving your feed. Smiling Chili automatically imports the title, ingredients, instructions, and photo. You can of course also save recipes from recipe websites or add recipes manually.

ORGANIZE WITH COOKBOOKS
Group your recipes into cookbooks — by cuisine, occasion, or however you like. Search and browse all your recipes effortlessly.

PLAN YOUR MEALS
Add recipes into a weekly meal plan so you always know what to cook and what to buy. Add to your shopping list straight from the meal plan.

SHOPPING LIST
Add ingredients from recipes or meal plans to your shopping list. Check items off as you shop, add custom items, and share your list with family via a link (they won't need the app to view the shopping list).

COOKING MODE
Follow recipes step by step in a focused cooking view. Check off ingredients and instructions as you go, set built-in timers, and adjust serving sizes on the fly. Your screen stays on while you cook.

SYNC & OFFLINE
Your recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists sync across devices. Works offline too — changes sync when you're back online.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-05-09

- New: Use the app without an account — sign in is now optional. Sign in or sign up any time from the Profile tab to back up your recipes and sync across devices. Anything you save as a guest is automatically merged with your account when you sign in.
- New: Sign in with Facebook
- New: Edit and Delete a recipe directly from the long-press quick actions menu on a recipe card
- New: Cooking Mode can now be minimized — drag it down or tap the new chevron to keep cooking while browsing other recipes, tabs, or timers keep running in the background
- New: Post-import summary showing exactly what was found (title, image, ingredients, steps, etc.)
- Improved: Redesign with new typography, recipe cards and buttons styles
- Improved: In Meal Plans, you can now drag-and-drop recipes between days
- Improved: Recipes are now saved when we find a title + image, even if no ingredients were extracted
- Fixed: Instructions card now fills the full width of the screen even when a recipe has only one step
- Fixed: After editing a recipe, you now return to that recipe instead of being bounced back to the recipes list

### 1.1.0 — 2026-04-12

- New: In Meal Plans; show recipes you didn't cook from last week when a new week starts. Chose if you want to add them to the new week or skip them.
- Improved: Security
- Fixed: Updating your profile picture now works reliably and the new image shows up immediately
- Fixed: App now always uses light mode so the Profile screen renders correctly on devices with dark mode enabled (full dark mode support coming later)
