## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8.1 — 2026-08-17

Fixed: Progress you removed could reappear on its own if you use the app
on more than one device. Sections you un-mark now stay un-marked, and the
change shows up on your other device without a manual re-sync.

Fixed: The sync options in Account Settings could remove a large amount of
data when run on a device that hadn't finished syncing. They now recognise
that and stop, with an explanation, instead of deleting anything.

Fixed: Hatcher Mountain Trail and Juney Whank Falls Trail weren't counting
toward your progress. If you'd hiked either one, they showed as still
needed in Shared Gaps and 3.1 miles were missing from your total. Both are
corrected automatically.

Improved: The trail list now keeps your place when you open a trail and
come back, along with any search or filter you had set.

Improved: The app tour now covers Conditions, Friends and Shared Gaps, and
shareable progress images. Replay it anytime from Account Settings.

### 1.8 — 2026-07-31

Turn your progress into something worth posting.

New — Shareable Progress Images:
• A progress map of every section you've finished, drawn on the official NPS trail map and color-coded by the year you hiked it
• Milestone cards for your first completed trail, 100/250/400/500/750 miles, and finishing all 325 sections
• Preview any image full size before you share it, then send it straight to a share sheet or save it

Improved:
• Everything you hiked before 2023 now shares a single color on the map, so your recent years stand out
• Conditions now shows that trail closures are checked against NPS every day

Fixed:
• Trail closures no longer warn that data "may be out of date" when NPS simply hasn't posted changes
• A milestone celebration no longer stacks on top of the welcome message

Thanks for hiking with us!

### 1.7.3 — 2026-07-26

This update adds official NPS trail closure information throughout the app.

New — Trail Closures:
• See NPS closure and caution notices right on the trail page, trail cards, and Shared Gaps — both list and map view
• Each notice shows the full official wording from NPS, when it was last checked, and a link to the source
• The AI Route Planner now checks current NPS closures before suggesting a hike — it won't route you onto a closed trail, and will flag any caution notices along the way

Thanks for hiking with us — always confirm current conditions with NPS before you head out.

### 1.7.2 — 2026-07-07

This update makes planning group hikes easier and fixes a date display issue.

New — Shared Gaps Map:
• See the sections you and your friends still need on a map, not just a list
• Color-coded by who can join: green where you all still need it, blue where a friend has already done it and can come along as a guide
• Switch between OpenStreetMap and the NPS park map

Fixed:
• Trail condition reports now keep their correct original dates instead of appearing freshly posted after a sync

Thanks for hiking with us!

### 1.7.1 — 2026-07-06

Friends is here — team up and finish the 900 together!

• Add hiking friends with a simple friend code — swap codes and you're connected instantly
• See each other's progress: sections completed, miles, and percent of the park done
• Shared Gaps — pick a group of friends and see the sections you all still need, so you can plan your next hike together
• "I Need" view shows which friends have already done a section, for when someone tags along on a re-hike

Also in this update:
• Fixed: logging conditions on a multi-section trail no longer posts duplicate community reports
• Fixed: progress logged while signed out now syncs automatically when you sign in

Thanks for hiking with us!
