First off, the app created 3 different playlists on my Spotify to save songs I liked on the app which is cool but the feature didn’t work unless I went back to delete the two other playlists it created. The app will also sometimes glitch out when I try to play a song and freeze my screen. Sometimes I can continue scrolling without listening to that particular song but most times I have to quit the app. Secondly, there’s literally a thousand genres for each letter on the genre search and it’s very easy to get lost and confused when trying to find a new genre. Thirdly, this isn’t much of a flaw, but it recommends a lot of songs I already listen to. I’ll end up scrolling for a bit because songs that are already added to my playlists keep popping up. Just one of the little things to consider to make this app better. I feel like once this app gets fixed it’ll be much more practical for music lovers. There is a bug in the app that is a bit frustrating and it causes the previous song to keep playing over the current one you try to play and sometimes even causing the current song not to play at all. But the function and foundation you have built could be promising, it just needs some revamping and care. I’ve already discovered so much new music. However, it doesn’t remember past suggestions as flawlessly as advertised. I have on multiple occasions been suggested the same handful of songs multiple times. This could easily be fixed in a future update but right now it’s just annoying. Also, it would be great if I could have the option to exclude certain artists from suggestion. Thank you so much ### 5/5 — I’m Obsessed *2023-02-02, version 1.14* Okay, so, I found out about this app a little while ago while browsing Reddit. I decided to give it a shot. When I first tried it, it was very very buggy, but I saw the promise. The songs that it was recommending me were from artists that I hadn’t heard of, right up my alley, and are ones that don’t seem to make it on Spotify/Apple Music playlists, which is awesome. So much of the time, you get stuck in a circle of the songs and artists that frequently make it on those playlists. Ive hardly come across any artists I regularly listen to, which is so incredibly important to me because I am ALWAYS looking for new artists. But because I found it a bit difficult with the bugs, I decided to just set it aside for a while. To my surprise, decided to give it another shot today and was so pleasantly surprised! I’ve had zero issues and it’s still giving me fantastic recommendations. I will be using this constantly, I can tell already. I do have one note, it is that I wish Apple Music could be connected as well. I know that probably won’t happen for quite some time, or if at all, but I’m an Apple Music user and so when I get recommendations in the smores app, I have to type it into Apple Music to listen to it there since I don’t have Spotify premium. It’s a bit of a pain, but I’m so willing to work with it to get the recommendations. Luckily, I have enough listening history on my free Spotify to still get really great recommendations. For those that don’t know, this app will not be able to automatically play the recommended songs in the smores app if you have the free version of Spotify. Keep it up though, I am obsessed with the app right now. And kudos to the developers for getting it to a really great point. I’m not lying when I say this has been the best option I have found to get insanely accurate deep cut recommendations. ### 4/5 — Great app for music discovery *2023-01-25, version 1.14* This app has given me so many good music suggestions and links really well with Spotify. My problem is the part where I need to give your app permission to remove things from my library and edit my playlists. I’m very deliberate about my music, and algorithms tend to miss things I like. My playlists are also very deliberate. Logged in and wasn’t able to hear anything, thought it might be an issue with a few songs but the issue persisted. Outside of that the UI is great except for the login screen. The difference between the main UI and the login screen is pretty jarring. Happy to change the review if the sound issues gets fixed. ### 2/5 — Unusable now *2024-12-18, version 1.36* I originally downloaded this app in 2023 and was able to use it pretty well for about a month before the “free trial” ran out. Suddenly I could no longer go through specific genres of music, only the top ten from my Spotify during the past month. I could also no longer edit by era or year. (ex. 2000s, 1950s, 1970s, etc) These features are what drew me to the app but now all I can do is scroll on the auto-generated for you page or go through my top ten genres. This is supposed to be music discovery, not limiting me to genres I already heavily focus on listening to. Maybe this is unreasonable but I feel like there’s no reason to pay a subscription for these basic features. ### 2/5 — Worked at first…. *2023-01-26, version 1.14* It no longer works. When first installed I could listen to the song for brief moment. But now it doesn’t play. I can add songs fine to Spotify. I’ve always wanted to try and find new music but I never wanted to search through long playlists or anything, so this is a great and quick way to find new music.
