The most valuable feature, which (surprisingly) is not offered by most apps, is that it can export files using video time (hh-mm-ss) as part of the filename. So, for example, a frame extracted from file "Beach" at 3 minutes 29.985 seconds will be auto-named as Beach-00-03-29-985.jpg. (This is the default. Other naming conventions are possible.) This saving with timecode feature isn't obvious from the description or from the screenshots, but thie app does it, and does it well. I found video files were a little slow to load if on an external drive, but once loaded, generating stills is very fast. You can generate stills by time (eg, every 30 seconds, or every 200 frames) or by total number (20 stills at even intervals throughout video). Once created, stills can be exported in various formats. An excellent app. ### 5/5 — It does it all *2020-05-12* I have spent hours trying to find an app that will grab every nth frame from a video. I have used SnapMotion for many years in the manual mode. Within five minutes, I had uploaded all my videos and had already processed my first one! Every aspect of the process is streamlined and easy to use. It only works with low res stuff, not "Best Quality" video links. Which is what I bought it for. Today. October 31, 2018 I upgraded to a new update. Won’t even open; DOA. Tried reloading it, same problem! I wonder why this hasn’t appeared in the App Store? 11/3/18. Developer responeded to me and was very helpful…….problem is fixed. I would now give it a “5" rating….it’s great to have developers that keep their apps up to date, not all of them do! Curley ### 2/5 — Version 5.0 got rid of the image timeline :-( *2021-11-12* Version 4.5 is better than the 5.0 version released November 11th 2021 in that it had a timeline of all the images takes from videos. This is a very important feature, critical to the utility of the app. Please bring this feature back. **Developer response:** Version 5.0.2 added a browser. Does the job of exporting images from a video to create a stop-motion like effect. Combined with the sister app GlueMotion you can create a stop-motion like video from regular video. It creates a different look than just speeding things up, because if you do your calculations right you can maintain the same speed, but have the images stay on screen longer. ### 4/5 — Great for capturing video stills *2020-12-29* A great little program that I use for taking video stills from videos I record. PROS: -Fast -Lightweight -Can skip backwards and forwards by frame -The Batch feature is very handy and powerful -Can handle most video formats I use -It's never crashed on me once CONS: -Has a problem handling movie files with variable framerates (it jitters), have to convert with Handbrake first. -Program doesn't remember your audio settings, always reverts to 50%. WISHLIST: -Basic basic image adjustment features like brightness, saturation, gamma, and contrast. -A "compare" view bringing up two (or more) videos in one window for comparing videos (i.e. when exporting from Final Cut to scrub through mutliple videos and compare different quality settings). That stopped working with the newer Mac systems. It was hard to find a replacement until I found SnapMotion. This is blazing fast. You set your start and end points, set a destination folder, tell it how many frames you want to capture and shazam! it's done. You can also capture frames individually. Amazing!
