## What is Snip?

You’ve already figured it out once, but when you need it again, you can't remember. The paint color code, your bed sheet size, the right fridge replacement filter – small, practical details you don’t use every day, but wish you had at hand when you need them again.

There is no logical place for these details. Notes offer too little structure, get cluttered, and take effort to organize, while reminders and calendars are built for tasks, not reference. So you either trust your memory, or accept you'll have to look them up again the next time.

Snip fills that gap by giving everyday details a place to live, so next time you need them they are right with you. Adding something is quick enough that you’ll actually do it, and once it’s there, it’s not just stored – it’s structured, enriched, and super easy to find when you need it.

No clutter. No searching again. Just the details you're looking for, when they matter.

For free, Snip includes:
- Save up to 20 snips to capture your details
- Create up to 3 contexts. Your snips are organized into contexts so you can easily find them again
- Six different Snip types designed specifically for intuitively adding and recalling your most important bits and details – sizes, items, specifications, dates, how-tos, and scribbles (free text). Each type has a structured and simple input format that fits it perfectly, and its own display format that intuitively shows the nature of the information.
- Pin items to the app's home screen for easy access
- Add custom details to snip items if their default structure is too simple
- Set nudges (notifications) for date-type snips, either before the snip's date or a certain time after the date has occurred
- Search snips by type, context, name, or contents
- iCloud syncs items across your devices (iPhone and iPad)

PREMIUM offers, in addition to the above:
- Unlimited snips
- Unlimited contexts
- Smart snip insights – computed and derived values and conversions (for Size and Date type snips)
- Attach up to 3 images to your snip items
- Lock screen and Home screen widgets for adding and finding your details even more easily

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-09-05

What’s new:
- This version introduces Snip for iPad! Through iCloud sync, all your items will sync between your devices.
- You can now set nudges (notifications) for Date type snips, either before or after a snip’s date – for something that’s coming up, or something that you want to be reminded of a certain time afterwards. Upcoming nudges that you've set are also displayed on Snip’s home screen. Just like all other content, nudges sync between your devices.
- Pinned snips on the home screen now show more lines of content to make more use of their larger card space.

Fixes:
- Several smaller visual refinements
- Improvements to iCloud sync of snips and contexts. Previously, in some cases the sync mechanism created duplicate entries. That should no longer occur.
- Context names are now required to be unique – in previous app versions, multiple contexts with the same name could exist. The uniqueness of context makes the user experience more logical and simple, and enables a cleaner and more reliable iCloud sync mechanism.

### 1.1 — 2026-08-11

This version introduces some exciting new features to improve Snip's experience:
- New homescreen widgets for contexts, types, snips, and smart lists
- Additional format options for How To and for Scribble type snips
- Improved the structure of the Settings menu
- Various user interface refinements across the app
- Technical improvements
