We're adding these in the next update 🙌🏻 ### 3/5 — Mac版はテーマの変更すら出来ない・・・ *2025-01-21* iPhoneと同期できるものを探していてこちらに。フォルダーもあり良い感じなのだが、Mac版はテーマの変更が適用されない。Helpボタンも効かない。今後のバージョンアップに期待・・・。 ### 3/5 — The review about steps is nonsense *2025-01-13* For anyone saying it’s “not worth it because it takes THREE whole steps to entire a snippet”…ONE TIME, clearly doesn’t understand how many clicks/taps it takes to actually write out code manually 🤦. I’ll give you a guess, it’s more than three. Even though this says it’s for snippets, you can use it for anything of course. I have been using the built-in text replacement for iOS which is simply not secure if any apps are able to record your input in the “privacy & security” settings of iOS. Like I was typing @addy to replace with my address, so you can do anything like that here needing a phrase because it’s a single tap function from an actual keyboard native to your device. The only reason why I gave it three stars is the annoying pay to upgrade before I’ve even use the app experience, pretty much. Half baked solution without upgrading, and the terribly microscopic UI elements. ### 3/5 — Nice *2024-12-13* This is a beautiful app that I probably won’t use very much. It comes down to this: how many steps does it take me to enter a snippet? My count is 3 on iOS. One to touch the + button, one to select “snippet”, and one to hit “save” on the popup. This may sound like nitpicking, but for something I do with any frequency it matters. ### 3/5 — Newton’s right about the popup *2024-11-20, version 5.0.2* I’m creating my first snippet and the popup is appearing every few seconds as I’m writing it. Other than that it looks okay, but it’s very hard to get a feel for it without getting annoyed. ### 4/5 — Invaluable but doesn’t work on iOS 18 *2024-10-11* I needed an app to store code snippets and having tested many in the AppStore decided Snippet was the best .. love the simplicity and its availability across Apple devices.., I’d have given it 5 stars BUT it doesn’t work on iOS 18, won’t even open for me 🤬 .. hoping this is fixed soon 🙏 ### 4/5 — Nice and easy *2024-07-25* Nice and to get 5 stars from me it just need a few things as a way to see the snappit title in the folder/Snippit list as it seem they only show the tags if they are atttach to it. The other thing is I have no idea where this file is being saved and what the filename is. ### 4/5 — Great app, could use a formatting feature. *2024-05-29* I use it everyday for keep some good pieces of code but I would really like to see a formatting feature and would pay for premium to have it ### 3/5 — Odd interface and nag popups *2023-12-13* The desktop version of this app is let down by its interface. There is no "New Snippet" item in the application menu (so pressing ⌘N does nothing); you have to press a plus-sign pulldown button on the window. There is no "Save" menu item when creating a snippet (so pressing ⌘S does nothing); you have to press an icon that to the rest of the world means "download." When editing a snippet you never get the assurance of pressing a "save" button or menu: there isn't one. You just have to assume it saved automatically while you were typing? The whole thing feels add. Was this thing built for iPad and then just exported to desktop? And there are strangely incomplete bits, like you can't set a snippet language to "html", you can't search all snippets, there is no way to export a snippet to files or to a gist for example. (I never want to export my code to an image so that's useless to me.) I would probably be okay with all that since it is free, but then those popups started nagging me to pay for a "premium version". **Developer response:** I'm sorry to hear you didn't have a great time using Snippit :( Snippit is developed by an incredibly small team of one person, and the app is entirely funded by folks who chose to pay for premium. The app asks once a week at maximum with a skippable pop-up. For the features in the app, I think this is super fair - if you don't, you can try another Snippet app, no hard feelings! You've been able to upload to gists for a while now, just add your git key into settings and you're good to go. You can also set a snippet to html too, and there's even a simple search in the latest update. Exporting to files will be coming sometime in the new year. The app was originally built for iPad and modified for desktop use, correct! but I'm always improving it on both platforms. There's new keyboard shortcuts for adding a new snippet and saving too ( but it auto saves so frequently you really don't need it! ). ### 4/5 — Excellent app, improvement suggestion *2023-11-24* the developer did a great job with the app and its interface. everything works and syncs to all other devices without an issue. the only reason why i didnt give this a 5 star rating is because of the navigation/editing snippets. when you're trying to add tags, you have to open the snippet, select the tags, make your selection then back out the selection - instead of just typing in the pre existing ones. it's cumbersome and tidious at times. when trying to drag a snippet to a folder - it doesnt work. you have to rt click and then "add to folder" -- please add this ability! when adding a snippet, there's no input field- just copy from clipboard. that feature is great but the TextFieldUI needs to be there so a user can make final edits before saving. the app is very clever, i can literally see how it was created in Xcode. splitnavigationview, TableViewUI, etc... great job otherwise ### 4/5 — So close *2023-08-10* Hi. I am giving this 4 stars as it’s great, however I had a few issues. There is no way to contact the developer. The email address just bounces back despite several attempts. I have therefore had to request a refund and try to find an alternate app, which is a shame as it seemed perfect for my needs. **Developer response:** Hey there! For example, when creating my first snippet I get the popup. I attempted to write my first snippet by clicking into the box - popup. I try to click another snippet - popup. I try to exit... popup. Truly infuriating and needs to be resolved. It completely prevented me from using the application. I would love to reevaluate once this issue is patched. **Developer response:** Hi there! A bug slipped in a previous build that meant the pop-up showed way more than expected. It's designed to show when you first open Snippit, and when you hit our limits, which we believe are fair - we don't want it to be intrusive! ### 1/5 — Too aggresive with payment prompt *2024-11-06* You can't expect people to pay for this without letting them try it first. The purchase popup keeps popping up everytime I click somewhere. **Developer response:** Hey there! I only show the payment prompt after you’ve created a couple snippets, or try to use a premium feature like AI generation. Snippit is developed with love by one person over a couple years, and only asks for a one time payment to support development, so you don’t have to pay upfront. Seems to sync properly on macOS but crashes on launch on iPad. Tried to use the support link on the App Store page to go to the support website. I was greeted with a 404 page. However, it's frustrating because it lacks some very basic and common-sense functionality: - You can't select a "language" and then narrow down the selection by tags. For example, I have Python and Bash functions. If I set the snippet language to "Python", I want to be able to narrow the selection to "function" tags when selecting the language. - You can't edit tag colors; you can only rename or delete them. - There aren't enough color options for tags. **Developer response:** If you update the app to 4.3.3, you'll find there's more colors, you can edit your tags inline instead of just renaming/deleting, and you can add a filter to the middle column! ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Recht praktisch, aber Object Pascal fehlt. *2026-04-05* Das Tool ist ziemlich nützlich. Gut wäre es, wenn es noch die Kategorien „Pascal“ und „Object Pascal“ gäbe. A huge frustration with app design in general for me is the complexity and time it takes to do what the app says it should do. This is not at all the case with Snippit. You can create snippets, tag them, and push them as gists. You can tag the snippet to provide further context. That’s it. This one is good with proper syntax highlighting and option to organise with tags/folder ### 5/5 — Simple & Effective *2024-05-17* I was looking for a simple, yet powerful code snippet manager and having used many other the lasy few years, this is the best and my favourite :-). Simple to setup tags and folders, super easy to add code snippets with a note thatis really useful (remember how its used and anything to be considered). Fully recommend this app. ### 5/5 — Darcula UI discrepancy *2024-02-22* I sync'd the snippets b/w my iphone and mc, strange thing is the Dracula theme. In my mac, the keywords such as (def, while, if, with, return, ....) are in green color while in mac it is in Purple color. language - Python ### 5/5 — Amazing tool for students *2023-11-25* I'm currently taking a programming class at my uni, and I can't tell you how convenient it is to be able to save templates of functioncs and loops to implement into a project, or even just refer back to. The tagging system makes snippets quick to find. It would be really great if you were able to create, edit and get content from Snippets via Apple Shortcuts and URL schemes, also a widget to list the most recent snippets would be very useful. Some noticed issues were in full screen mode expanded via the toggle button for a snippet with the iPad, the background color is glitched and split around half way across. The save snippet as image feature when exporting the output image still includes a watermark also. There is vbscript-html as a highlighter which works fine but a regular html highlighter as choice is needed I think. What would be amazing is a way to save custom highlighters in a text format on the iPad or iCloud that could be used as choices in the app. Also a full snippet backup option would be useful to save everything to a zip etc. Since its a code based app if possible bridging with other apps to quickly run scripts like Pythonista and scriptable etc where it made sense could be a powerful feature to have also. Also some quick formatting options and other useful tools to process code such as a beautifier and validator would be great features to have included.
