It would seem that a simple function like this would be included. So, I deleted this app after the first two minutes . If I could have given zero stars I would have. ### 1/5 — DO NOT BUY!!!! *2023-02-11* This program is terrible. I worked for two days trying to get a recipe and could not. I even went to SoapCal and did a recipe and entered the exact information from that recipe and it still would not work. I also wasted $10.00. No help of any kind, No step by step instructions, Nothing. Maybe that’s how their making money. The only way you can get a recipe is to unlock all the options. Then the program won’t work. They get the money and you get jack. TERRIBLE APP. ### 1/5 — Pain to use *2022-08-15* Screen kept changing. Gave up. **Developer response:** The app changes the recipe whenever you change the requirements such as the oils to use or the properties you want. That's exactly what it is designed to do. It creates the recipe for you, so you don't have to fiddle with percentages or matching oils that may or may not work together. If the problem you had was a problem where the app froze or acted up, then do please drop me an email at contact@smarthound.uk and I would be more than happy to look into it! ### 1/5 — Frustrated *2020-12-08* I’ve struggled with this app! The settings are no help. Took me a few tries to figure out the Done was on the keyboard, not the screen. Your only Help is a website that offers no place for assistance or a Twitter address. I do NOT have an account and I’m not going to get one. I enter tried recipes and it will not give me a recipe. Why? Why? Think this is a lesson learned and $6 lost. ### 1/5 — Awful *2020-05-05, version 2.1.4* This app is NOT user friendly. ### 2/5 — Abandoned app *2025-10-27* It is a shame this app has been abandoned. No updates in 3 years. I paid for full access. Love the features that do work, but the app has bugs and needs attention. ### 2/5 — Cannot upgrade and ‘soon is already 1 month old *2019-11-09* I’ve tried to install app but since basic version is quite limited I wanted to upgrade. Unfortunately it’s failing for some reason. Since I m using iOS 13 and ‘new iOS 13 specific version should come out “soon”, I’ll wait. But this soon is already month old, so no upgrade and no new version. Disappointing. **Developer response:** The updated version for iOS 13 has been out since 14 September (1.2.4). I'm not aware of any problem that would prevent you from upgrading to the full version. Please get in touch with me via kim.bauters@smarthound.uk so I can sort this out for you as quickly as possible. ### 2/5 — It’s Promising but only 5 Oil Choices *2019-06-26* Annoyed that I only have 5 oil choices to pick from when I use many other kinds of oils in my soaps... I don’t use castor oils and I don’t use cocoa butter so... can we have more choices? **Developer response:** Thank you for trying the app and taking the time to write a review. The basic oil choices in the free version give you the chance to try the app before you decide to purchase the full version. With these 5 oils you can make a number of different soaps, try out the fragrances, see how the recipe book works, etc. If you're happy with what the app has to offer, you can unlock the full version in the Settings screen. The full version gives you - among other things - access to over 80 oils, the ability to set oil prices, and the option to create PDF prints of your recipes. This full unlock is a one-time purchase. There are no subscription fees, and you get all future updates to the app. By purchasing the app you make it possible for myself, an independent developer, to keep improving the app and pay the bills. Many thanks in advance if you do decide to unlock the full version and I hope you will enjoy the app as much as all the other users already do! ### 3/5 — Developers haven’t updated it *2022-10-13* This app has so much potential to be the best out there. But there’s been new developments in soap making and the app developer has stopped updating this app to keep up with the industry changes. ### 4/5 — Great but Limited *2020-07-25* I find it easy to use and I do recommend it to those who are new to soap making as well as those who are more experienced. The only drawback for me is the limited choices for additives and fragrances. I’m in love, it has every little thing I need and MORE! Please let me know when you come out with a skincare formulator app for lotions, creams and oils. It would be a life saver! Also I noticed a butter I use often was missing from your list, it’s call shorea seed butter, it’s quite amazing and would be a wonderful addition to your ingredients list. ### 5/5 — Figuring out a basic recipe *2020-04-26* This is the best app to use for trying to figure out what you want your base soap ingredients want to be! ### 5/5 — Great features and responsive developer *2020-04-22* I needed a good lye calculator and recipe handler and found this little beauty that does so much more. Soap genie will preview the different properties your oils will impart to your final product and will warn you if your soap might be lacking — too soft or too harsh, etc. Or better yet, use the automated calculator to help you build a better soap and optimize to whatever property you wish. Super solid and worth the money to go pro. ### 5/5 — Love this app so far, but miss ability to sync across devices. *2020-04-15, version 2.1.4* Please add support to sync across devices please. ### 5/5 — Like the app suggestion on making it better *2019-11-06* I like the app. Put in a formula and it will estimate the results based upon a variety of criteria (hardness, bubbles, etc). What would be amazing is if the app allow you to change the formula and see the criteria update in real time. ### 5/5 — Simply the best and getting better *2019-08-08* This is an amazing app. Rather than simply allowing us to choose oils and fats to soap with this app does so much more. Instead we can tell the app what type of soap we want - conditioning, hardness, creamy lather etc. - and it will make a recipe to suit the oils we have on hand. The developer is super responsive and his web site lays out a roadmap of features to be added.
