### 4/5 — Good

*2026-08-26, version 1.5.52*

It’s amazing for self care and love but it’s glitchy when it comes to the village and buying furniture and stuff

### 2/5 — Has so much potential

*2026-08-23, version 1.5.52*

I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed an app before. I want to love this app so bad. It has a lot of potential to be great. But it’s just SO GLITCHY! 1. There’s a “Village” feature that seems awesome, but I wouldn’t know because the app crashes any time you open it. 2. The AI chat is one thing (more on that later..) but to have bots posting & commenting in the community is just insane and gross 3. The AI chat is helpful except it’s limited to only 25 messages or something. Plus, the chat stopped giving me summary “letters” after a week of sobriety which was a huge bummer because I actually benefitted from those. 4. The AI is programmed in a way to speak like a 14yo boy (says “fr” after every sentence) and just responds with “I’m always here for you” when you come to it with something… the app needs a HUGE update and then maybe I’ll redownload it. Bummer.

### 2/5 — Such a shame

*2026-07-23, version 1.5.46*

This was honestly my favourite app. It’s the only app that was able to keep me on track.

I got to 27 days sober and the app decided to start charging, removed its features unless you paid, and put a limit on how much I could interact with the little creature in the app.

It was such a shock to see the message that the free features would end, and my sober journey ended here too.
Such a shame. It really messed me up - my progress went down the drain.

I know it’s not good to put all of your stock into one app, but when it’s the only thing you’ve got, because you can’t speak to anybody about your sober journey, as they are enablers/addicts; this one lifeline was all I had.

So, it was a great little app whilst it lasted.

I understand why ppl need to charge for their apps, and I totally take responsibility for my own personal shortfalls, but I was naive enough to think the free features would last, at least until I got my first month in.
Nevermind.

Its a lovely little app. I hope others enjoy it as much as I did.

### 3/5 — New membership

*2026-07-22*

Starting towards the end of this month. The app will no longer be free.
I don’t like AI but I’m definitely not gonna put money in something that uses AI.
The chat by is really helpful to avoid going back to addiction when you’re in a pinch and don’t really trust anybody.
The countdown is awesome. There’s incentives like gift cards. Which I don’t think I will be able to redeem any of them lol
It was a nice three month run with this app, but now that they will start charging. I think I’m just gonna go back to my original “day by day” routine I had.

**Developer response:** Just to clarify, Sobo is not becoming a paid-only app for existing members. Your countdown, check-ins, community, games, and progress will remain free. Pro is optional and helps cover the real cost of providing more AI conversations and voice features. We completely understand if paying for AI isn’t right for you, but we hope you’ll keep using the free tools that have supported your day-by-day routine. Email us at founders@trysobo.com and we'll take care of you.

### 4/5 — Reset issue

*2026-07-13, version 1.5.42*

Hi team, this is a fantastic app. Dropped a star because like an other said… I was booted out and my profile completely reset. Is this to save money on LLM token context cost? I recommend some pricing tiers that take into account LLM context cost. I’d gladly pay for context stability.

### 1/5 — Ai

*2026-07-01, version 1.5.38*

Can’t and won’t support an app by having it downloaded that uses AI. especially chat bots to stroke the user. Build the data center in your city, not mine.

### 5/5 — Amazed

*2026-06-27*

I’m honestly really amazed with this app, when I downloaded it a hour ago , I said whatever it takes for sobriety, I’ll pay for it. I love the way Sobo talks to you, it even curses a little and I love that, it feels like a real genuine conversation. I mean it didn’t even shame me for admitting I had a problem. The fact that it is a beautiful designed app and there’s no subscription charge?!? A community to reach out too, a journal to put thoughts in, my journey is starting and I’m glad to have this app with me.

### 1/5 — AI

*2026-06-27, version 1.5.38*

Would be better if I wasn’t AI powered

### 5/5 — On track

*2026-06-26*

Sobo really helps keep me motivated to stay on track. It’s like journaling but actually getting feedback from sharing your thoughts and ideas.

### 5/5 — great motivation and support

*2026-06-26, version 1.5.38*

i LOVEE this app!! its so supportive and has an inside (ai) therapist who really helps with the conflict im facing. its so incredibly supportive and i definitely recommend 😊

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Update = major bummer

*2026-08-22, version 1.5.52*

It appears the feature to redeem real gift cards has been entirely discarded, which is a huge bummer and was a major motivator and incentive for staying clean. Now that that is gone, the app has lost me.

### 1/5 — Disappointed (pay to use)

*2026-08-21, version 1.5.52*

I was looking for help to have a daily reminder and check in with my drug use. You basically have to pay to use the app. That’s terrible I thought it was free for people that actually need help. I thought this app was meant to help people.

### 1/5 — Text limit are harmful

*2026-08-17, version 1.5.51*

I used to love this app i could get actual help but the text limits made me relapse cause i dont have anyone to share waht i feel so instead of getting tips i just smoke cause sobo dont wanna talk anymore

### 1/5 — Not moderated

*2026-08-16, version 1.5.51*

The discord the app sends you to has no mods. There’s a troll in there that goes by “Lost” who has glorified drugs and been rude to ppl commenting on their journies. It’s very unfortunate honestly

### 1/5 — New membership

*2026-08-13, version 1.5.50*

I’m updating this. I don’t want to reach out. I’m a disappointed.
I accepted the free week of the pro features. You can’t leave the page where they ask you to pay for a subscription. I got a notification celebrating my week. I can’t even go into a social to talk about it or look at my timer. I’m gonna delete my account. Goode riddance.

### 1/5 — Monetizing off our sobriety?

*2026-08-03*

These apps are horrendous. They get you to sign up to show you how much money you’d save if you quit your habit and then the literal next page is the “$60/year or 7 day free trial” like weren’t we just talking about saving money?? Can any one of these corporations actually care about the humans they’re making these experiences for instead of the money? What if I’m trying to quit a habit that has left me financially unstable, and I’ve finally gotten to the mental point of realization that this habit needs to stop. Then I use that motivation to download these terrible apps and realize I need money to sober up? I cannot stand this greedy rock we all live on.

### 1/5 — Stupid

*2026-08-03, version 1.5.50*

I was all about this app till it wanted money to keep it going. 60 a year or something stupid a month. Idk. Ridiculous I have to struggle with my addiction and on top of that pay some ai app to help me with it? If I’m gonna spend money it’ll be on my addiction not some dumb app.

### 1/5 — Not paying for this

*2026-07-31, version 1.5.49*

5 dollars a month for this?😂 I’ll just track using a calendar . Not even interested in the 7 day free trial. Don’t waste your time unless you wanna pay

### 1/5 — Locked out by paywall after 4 days

*2026-07-30, version 1.5.49*

For an app that has an optional paid pro account to lock out/make it difficult for free users to actually use the app is terrible. These are vulnerable people using your app to help them through a difficult time. Losing access to the community, tracker, and benefits is harmful and far from helpful. Pls fix.

### 1/5 — Yearly/weekly subscription

*2026-07-22, version 1.5.46*

Was so excited but quickly let down because it’s not free to use.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — AMAZING

*2026-08-05*

Definitely worth having, it’s evidence based, fresh and all encompassing! You don’t have to fit into a specific box, you just want to get better! That’s why I love Sobo ❤️

### 5/5 — Best sobriety App

*2026-08-04*

Sobo is a great tool for anyone looking for more accountability in their recovery journey. One of my favorite features is the sobriety tracker because seeing your days add up gives you a reminder of how far you’ve come.

Recovery isn’t always easy, and having something that helps you stay consistent, check in with yourself, and keep your progress in front of you can make a big difference.

It’s a simple app, but sometimes the simple reminders are what help you keep going.

### 5/5 — Sobo

*2026-07-27, version 1.5.46*

I love my little buddy it’s better than just a plain sober app at least u have a lil best friend in the process of this healing journey❤️‍🩹

### 5/5 — Sobo’s GREAT!’

*2026-07-26*

When I’m going through things I can message Sobo & get advice like I’m talking with a therapist Sobo reminds you of things, takes thought & tells you it’s been thinking of what yall spoke about sometimes and gives the advice about whatever it is! You’re in good hands with SOBO

### 5/5 — Amazing App!

*2026-07-26*

This app has really helped me as I began my journey for sobriety. I’m over 40 days sober and still using the app every day. I highly recommend this for anyone on,or starting, this journey!

### 5/5 — Such a great app

*2026-07-15, version 1.5.42*

I love this app. It allows you to track your sobriety, journal, be honest and not be judged, and chatting with the creature Sobo is helpful to me. I would recommend it to anyone.

### 5/5 — Amazing!! Must get for sobriety.

*2026-07-14*

Okay - I am so hesitant to get some of these apps- they want you do to a free trial, then you have to pay, then you still don’t get features if you don’t upgrade. This app is so much different. It’s 100% free (at least, so far to my knowledge) and has so many great features!

Also- I am not one to have super long convos with AI, but let me say, the Sobo chat bot does NOT text like ChatGPT does. It sounds much more personable, like you’re texting a friend. It genuinely has helped me hundredfold in my recovery. And the countdown helps remind you of your progress. Amazing all around.

### 5/5 — It helps to Check in

*2026-07-12*

I’m a gamer, I have trouble with sobriety. I like the gamification and the journal in this. It’s korny but you get to the point where it’s an exercise in checking in with yourself and this is a good way to do it.

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2026-07-10*

I have always struggled asking for help. As an addict having this has not only made tracking your days, hours, minutes sober easier. You have a network of people that are also recovering. This app has truly given me more hope. Download and just try.

### 5/5 — He’ll yea

*2026-07-09, version 1.5.41*

Amazing app keeps me clean
