Don’t get me wrong, it is really fun, but there is not that much attention to detail. First the models are awful, like BAD BAD. My grandma with no game devolving experience could my better models. And it gets very boring sometimes. They need to add more game modes. Like maybe a career mode or something. But on the flip side the gameplay is really fun and making a better team on the “My Team” is not bad. Playing in different leagues too! Just amazing. I would recommend this game for someone looking to get it. I really like that it has no iAPs, which means you progress by your own merits. It still concerns me the names and licensing and sometimes it frozes on the menu with no possible solution. The latest update seems to have thrown things off - nothing is progressing for me. Win streak wins don’t move me along the win streak track (always stuck at 1/5), normal wins aren’t giving a payout, etc. It’s not a very deep game, and my progression is just about maxed after a month or so of play, but for a casual game it’s a good implementation. ### 3/5 — Progress in world tournaments *2020-05-30, version 1.4* Why does the game lose my progress in whatever world tournament every time it reboots. Makes it impossible to finish a 16 game tournament. Also, I am just stuck at my current level, can’t get new players, cant go up or down. I have 3000 currency but I can’t upgrade my players unless I have another player to give up. I really don’t get it. I wish it wouldn’t team me up with someone else who uses manage team. A lot of times it’s harder to beat it. I feel like I’m playing against computer all the time. Remove manage team. It’s stupid. I wanna play with other people. It’s more fun. Option to play computer is fine. But matching someone who does manage team and someone who actually uses controls to play defeats the fun factor. Let people who play advance faster than people who manage team. Update to review: I feel like I’m playing computer all the time, and not other players? ### 4/5 — Fun to play but lots of confusion *2020-03-05, version 1.3* The most important thing first: this is maybe the first iPhone soccer game I’ve enjoyed playing. After a learning curve, and after turning on the passing guide in options, I can move the ball around, make chances, and defend. Scoring a goal is still a big accomplishment but this is soccer we are talking about after all! The other parts of the game are hard to understand and seem lifted from a pay-to-play model. There are coins and daily rewards just for opening the app. They don’t belong in an Apple Arcade game. Even the league is confusing. I don’t have any idea how many games I’ve won or lost, though, because there are no such stats anywhere. In fact, I’m not sure who I’m playing, why, or what it means. I just know that if I go into ‘League’ and press ‘next’ enough times, a soccer game starts, and from there, I’ve figured out what to do. After the game is over, I click next a bunch of times until I get put into a new game. Am I playing against AI? Am I playing against other humans? Am I playing against a group of well-trained monkeys? No idea. How do I change my team? I dunno. I’m an ignorant American and I have no idea if these soccer teams are real. I chose Newport at random. There isn’t any explanation of what’s going on, so I try not to care. I just play a dozen or so games each night, and enjoy it. Is my won/loss record and and other stats kept somewhere? No idea. It would be nice to know what it is. Maybe I’m just playing in a parallel universe, where nothing means anything? I am a very casual player and I’m having no issues at all. The lack of head to head multiplayer and how east ranked matches get make this game gets very old after a little bit. I don’t want to just play practice modes after a few games. I understand pay-to-play model would lock down tournaments and make you wait hours to play again, but not something on Arcade. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Reviews DELETED *2020-09-05, version 2.0* Every update, my team would have a 50% reduction. It is only supposed to be 25%. By Email, from Jon & Gustav, was told only about 100 players this happens to. For the entire length of the game to date, I worked my team into second overall, diamond division, and held it for months. Which meant, I spent money, and many hours and days on this game. After all this time, these two decided to lock my game for 2 days after a big update and then a little one. 50% reduction from 2 in the world to 15th. It took days to fix which means I lost out on 493 points daily. I’d then be 6th or 7th. This is how they treat their loyals so it appears teams can move up. You cant move up unless a player takes a day off. Its mathematically impossible to catch anyone. The overall leader time advances their game. I was in first, and 12 hours later they have 1000 points more than my team. Shame on Jon & Gustav! Apple these people are crooks and manipulators. I have no kind words for these two. They make Apple look bad. On a final note, they asked me to be a game tester, because when you are 2 in the world it only means I never missed a day or a match. Phase I of PvP doesn't work, just a endless loop of waiting. Controls are worse then before, and now for some reason every single team you play will be your rank or higher in opposition even if they "rank" lower. The game now seems like a ping pong match in the center of the pitch. And updated support/tutorial, where is that? There's what the developer wants to sell as done and then what they actually did- they aren't the same with this game. Shame on them for that. I'd like to stick around to see if they get it right but if history with this game is any prediction of the future they won't. Download FIFA instead. At least you get what they say they are selling. And so does my son. It looks good and could be a great addition to the sports game genre. But as others have said, the controls and speed of the game just make it unplayable. It’s impossible to play defense because you cannot discern when and which defender you will be automatically switched to. The game speed is just too fast. There isn’t enough time to get into a game. It’s over before you really get started. The passing and shooting controls take too long to aim so by the time you get the right direction selected the defender is already stealing the ball or intercepting the pass. It just feels like the game didn’t actually go through playability testing to make sure it could be played and be fun. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. No way to turn off the auto switch of character so I have to guess which one it will make play as so I can’t even try to play strategically. Unless I missed the part where you can pick what player you control on defense. With the latest update none of the controls are working for me. Kicking is off and tackling is just constant fouling. Horrible update. ### 2/5 — Sociable soccer is being antisocial with me *2020-05-13, version 1.4* Sociable soccer would be great if it didn’t crash every time I play it. I mean every time. I’ve restarted my Apple TV. I’m not sure what the problem is but they need to fix it immediately. All in all, it’s not a bad game but you can’t play it because it keeps crashing. ### 2/5 — Enjoying but hoping for improvements *2020-02-20, version 1.3* I’ve really enjoyed the game so far and it’s really accessible. I don’t feel like I need to spend hours to reach a level where it’s enjoyable. However, there are some much needed improvements in some of the game mechanics. Coins: not sure of the purpose. They’ve never been a barrier to progression and I don’t know why I’d sell a player if I don’t need them. Switching players: the auto switch function is buggy and in a crowded area I can never defend because the players keep switching. Team management: It is very difficult to manage the team, see who has reached a max level, organize squads, determine the best line up. Progression: I’m still struggling to determine how players improve. I know I can upgrade them with other players and they get experience from being man of the match but is that the limit? Do they get experience from being in a game, even if they are not man of the match? Do they get experience for positive plays in a game? ### 2/5 — What’s the purpose of this game? *2020-02-07, version 1.3* I am a bit confused by the purpose of this game. If it’s a game for the players who actually love playing soccer on their phones, then this is a poorly made one. If it’s a game for the players who love to collect their idols, then people will be disappointed. The only reason I can think of is Apple Arcade needs a sports game, and this is the category filler. The control is a bit wired, especially for the passing. The cutscenes can’t be skipped which is annoying. The AI is quite good at stealing the ball from me, also very annoying especially in my first few matches. Soccer players can’t sprint, which removes a lot of tactic that I can use. In the fast pace, short distance ball passing back and force between 2 teams, the camera behaviors like shaking. It is not a pleasant user experience. A good soccer mobile game needs either outstanding gameplay, or has a stunning graphics with real soccer player that you can collect and watch them play automatically. I can see it takes a little getting used to though. I did go through the first 6 divisions scoring probably >6 goals on average a game (record 14) so arguably too easy but I really enjoy it even when easy. Plus the difficulty is increasing so I imagine division 1 is pretty difficult. Especially fun to play opponents online in your league or clan vs clan. There used to be daily limits, not sure if that is still the case but I do have problems connecting to the server sometimes, as if a limit is being implemented. What’s up with that guys? Server problems or play limit? Is there an option to just play versus an online opponent when you’ve reached league or clan limit? Maybe increase the win streak availability, multiple runs, or for no reward other than the fun of it. ### 4/5 — Gets Repetitive but Mostly Fun *2022-12-19, version 2.6.1* Like what most of the other reviews state, the controls are tricky at first. It’s genuinely fun once you get the hang of it though, especially in multiplayer. One problem I have is how repetitive and boring it becomes when playing to unlock better characters. I don’t like how stars slowly increase in daily matches after unlocking a character either. It becomes such a grind to the point where it’s unplayable. At least for me though. If you’re someone who enjoys long stretches of grinding, I respect it, but it’s too slow to keep me interested. There was also a bug I encountered recently when I tried to enter daily matches after club clash reset, where it kept sending my to the main menu whenever I tried to enter daily matches.
