This app has been the best way for me to stop scrolling. All the other apps i’ve tried (opal, screen time, etc) have an easy way to bypass limits, but this is an amazing solution. My only minor complaint is that posting to my story isn’t a good UX because of the different interface, but I don’t post to my story that often so it’s a tradeoff i’m pretty happy to take. Thank you so much!

My children (12 and 15) and I got this app for our YouTubes because we found ourselves doomscrolling all the time. 

We had tried other things within our devices, like focus or Screen Time limits, but we would either work around stuff or just ignore the limits. 

This is the first time that all three of us feel like we can use YouTube in a manageable way and get off our devices much more easily.

I knew the day would come that blocking ads and suggested posts on IG for free would become a forced paid option. Get us hooked on the awesome lower dopamine “Instagram kinda sucks” vibe (compliment), and then make us pay for us. You tried to convince us you weren’t like all those other girls but then literally are just those girls. Bummer. I was raving about you to everyone bc you helped me break my doom scroll habit but now you’re gonna make me pay to have it back? WE COULD HAVE HAD A GOOD THING (for free).  Oh well.

This is a great app that’s helpful and realistic to use. I never comment but this has truly helped me. I love that I can still use social media apps and keep in touch with my friends without short form content being shoved in my face. This app provides a solution where it’s not necessary to fully delete social media apps and feel out of the loop. I’ve saved many hours now from scrolling. Highly recommend and really appreciate that the main functionalities of this are free! Thank you!

### 2/5 — Scroll Blocking feature is great BUT..

Since downloading the app I’ve noticed a very big difference in my screen time which is great! And the main reason I downloaded socialLite rather than just deleting Instagram is because Instagram is my main form of messaging and connecting with friends. I’ve thought for years, I wish there was a way to just remove reels but keep all the other features, which is what SocialLite promises and delivers… almost. 

While SocialLite does remove reals and keep majority of the rest of the overall general features the same, it ruins a LOT of Instagram’s features, and essentially turns instagrams fast well engineered messaging system into a random low grade messaging app.

Based on my observations (which I’ll list below) I’m assuming SocialLite runs Instagram in its built-in container browser by loading the Instagram web wrapping inside a mobile frame, aka instead of getting Instagram the way it’s built as a true app, we’re getting it in a mobile version of the desktop website. 

Here are some of my observations: 
1. you can’t see meta ai messages when other interact with it, nor can you interact with the ai yourself
2. Photo uploads are restricted to the camera roll (as in you can’t use the built in Instagram imaging and videoing system). 
3. Video uploads are entirely blocked regardless of what method you go about using 
4. iOS fluid gestures are broken, aka you can’t use swipe to navigate the app, or hold down on messages to react, or swipe on messages to respond, this makes the messaging system feel a lot more jumpy, slow, and glitchy than the normal fluid Instagram messaging system 
5. You’re permanently stuck in light mode unless you buy premium AND you can’t see group chat backgrounds that help make Instagram messaging feel personalized (I’m not sure if premium fixes the latter issue)
6. Many sticker features are restricted, such as adding stickers on messages, and commenting stickers on reels
7. Messaging reaction bug, when you react to a message the emoji disappears off your side so you can’t see if it went through, for example, if you put a heart it instantly vanishes 
8. Cannot handle rapid data requests, when going through many stories fast it lags out and makes me refresh multiple times and even crashed once, a problem I’ve never faced on the actual Instagram app, and likely due to the web rate limit and since I believe SocialLite is using a weak desktop browser 

Those are all the main issues I’ve noticed, there are likely more along the same lines that I’ve forgotten or haven’t encountered. Overall SocialLite does its job as promised, it just also majorly ruins the app feel at the same time.

Tbh I’m not sure if the stuff I’m saying can possibly be fixed if SocialLite is using a built-in container browser, running the web/desktop version of Instagram on mobile, it could be entirely possible that these are issues that can’t be fixed, if so, or if the team is aware of and working on fixing these issues I’d be glad to remove my low rating.

I would appreciate a response from the team though lol.

Que dire !! Mon addiction au « scrolling » venait de toute les pop ups sur YouTube et depuis longtemps je rêvais de les supprimer et même de totalement désactiver les short YouTube !
Et depuis que j’ai découvert cette app je me sens beaucoup mieux ! Je peut regarder mes vidéos YouTube tranquillement sans avoir a scroller toutes les deux minutes a cause des recommandations qui envahissent ton écrans. 
Un grand merci pour cette app incroyable !
