I do wish that it would remember my username and password though like pretty much every other app on my phone. I havte having to re-type them anytime i use this app. It’s a little thing, but it’s a big thing. ### 2/5 — Can’t login with Google *2021-10-20, version 2.2.5* I love Socrative, I really do, it saved my sanity during the lockdown. But there’s no option to login using my offficial school Google account in the app. Please, please fix that! ### 3/5 — Equation editor *2020-09-04, version 2.2.5* The only reason I'm even trying this thing out is because the other teachers that know I am into LaTeX told me that Socrative finally added LaTeX support. It is limited at best (for now). The equation editor has no obvious shortcut to summon, and there is no plain-text mode to add delimiters such as $_$ or \(_\), so you need to manually click on the equation editor to switch to math mode. I strongly suggest adding a plain-text mode where delimiters are visible. I couldn't get the typical `array` environment to work, and I couldn't find documentation to know what to change my syntax to. All of the above may only really annoy the nerdiest of STEM teachers, but the real kicker is.... ***the equation editor does not support a Bluetooth keyboard.*** What is the point is adding "backslash support" when I can't use my keyboard AND the onscreen keyboard doesn't have a backslash in sight. The website is a little better, but still the editor is far from efficient for those of us with pre-existing latex code. For now, others with desire for real latex are better off using overleaf and taking screenshots of the rendered pdf. You'll be happy you can keep your code for when something usable comes along. ~I have reached out to the company, and their response and updates may alter my review in the future. ### 2/5 — No price listed? How do you know what is standard! Or Pro? *2020-08-26, version 2.2.5* I used it in the past and it worked great. Then the school had issues with me going tech Now we are all going tecky even those that criticized me. But my only complaint is that how or where does it say the price? ### 3/5 — Problèmes depuis que le site s’est refait une « beauté » *2020-05-20* Jusqu’il y a 3 semaines je n’avais jamais eu de problèmes, mais depuis que le site s’est « refait une beauté » j’ai divers problèmes qui sont apparu : - une question qui saute - des images qui se mélange et donc ne sont pas aux bonnes questions - des images qui ne s’affichent pas - des questions qui se mélange Il faut savoir que je l’utilise de manière rythmée. J’ai une incohérence de réponses par rapport aux questions de la part de mes élèves ou tout simplement des indications comme quoi cela n’affichait pas l’image... difficile de faire une évaluation dans ces cas là... J’espère que les problèmes vont vites être réglés. C’est un des moyens que j’utilise régulièrement pour « évaluer » mes élèves avec le confinement. J’en ai encore besoin à l’heure actuelle. ### 4/5 — Presque parfait *2020-03-22* Même en sciences il faut bien concevoir les séances . Des fonctionnalités étendues comme mélanger questions et réponses pour chaque élèves en font un outil de contrôle pertinent . Cela fait un ans que je l’utilise et je n’en ai pas encore fait le tour. Une dernière chose , l’échange entre professeur est d’une grande simplicité et les corrections sont individuelles pour chaque élève . Je signe pour un an de plus merci à tout l’équipe en ces temps difficiles . I use it every week in all of my courses. But I can’t use the mobile app because I login using my google account. Please, please integrate it into the app or provide a work around. ### 3/5 — Can’t *2018-01-19, version 2.2.4* I just barely signed into the app and all ready I am not pleased with how it functions—> there is no “back button” available so once you’ve clicked on an option you’re stuck on that page unless you go to the pull-down menu and choose to navigate elsewhere. I don’t use it daily, but it is my go to for reviews for my classes. My complaint with the teacher app, is that I have signed into Socrative using my google account, but I don’t have that option on the app. I can use the web-based version on my desktop or laptop, but the iPad would be more convenient for circulating around the room. I have upgraded to the Pro version but now I can't use continue to create my assessments using photos because every time I try to upload a photo the program crashes. I love how the app works, going to be using for our homeschool. ### 4/5 — Nearly perfect *2017-03-02* Socrative is a perfect tool for conducting MCQs. The real-time feedback is excellent. An improvisent could be made: students know the number of correct answers in a MCQ. The date format is confusing to non-Americans. It would be easier to file as year-month-day (2017-02-15) as this automatically keeps them in date order and is universally understood. I deleted it and reinstalled and it still just stalls. When it was functioning, it was a very useful app. You could even add pictures to questions. Great website and printable versions of the quizzes as well. ### 3/5 — Troubles *2016-05-12, version 2.2.1* It's a good app for teachers but it doesn't seem to be loading (same with the student one), or it's taking a very long time to load. ### 4/5 — Dispatch or Warm-ups *2016-03-17, version 2.2.1* I teach math at a high school amd absolutely LOVE this app. My students use it for their warmups, and the space race feature is great for review. Last year our department used it for a midterm on the desktop computers, i wouldnt recommend something like that on the app because when i used to randomize the answer order, i got many complaints from students that the item they selected changed after they pressed submit, result in incorrect scores. Other than that, i wish it had a better way to organize the quizzes. Right now they all appear in a list, and i have sooooooo many. ### 2/5 — Good layout but poor software *2016-03-05, version 2.2.1* The app is poorly designed. For example: 1) If you want to delete question 20 you have to scroll all the way up to the top to confirm! 2) unless you press the return key it does not register a change in an answer option (and no prompt) 3) the iPad version has crashed several times. ### 3/5 — Could be better. *2016-01-05, version 2.2.1* I teach third grade and I love the idea of the app infusing technology into the classroom. I have tried to use it a few times, but there is no way to record your voice reading the question if you create a quiz and need to differentiate with some of the lower readers in class. If they would provide this option to register a class so only certain students could access the audio, Socrative would be the next best thing since sliced bread. ### 4/5 — Multitasking on iPad *2015-10-05, version 2.2.1* I have used Socrative in my classes for over a year now and I think it is an excellent app. I am concerned with the current update of the iPad to allow for multitasking. Now, when the students are taking a quiz, they are able to easily slide open the right side of their screen and access their notes or the internet. This is a serious security issue that I hope Socrative will address. I attempted to contact HELP but I was unable to connect with it. The site seems to be down. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can’t Log In *2023-03-31, version 2.2.6* I can log into Socrative as a teacher via the Web but when I try to use the app it says my email or password is wrong. Even better is when I have the account open on my browser and the app still doesn’t recognize it. The student version is fine, used that many times.
