It never asked whether enough season remained for that crop to finish before frost. Now it does. Several other places where the app assumed what season, or what place, it was in have been corrected too. What's new: - PlantAI checks whether enough season is left, using your location's own frost record and the next two weeks of forecast. Expect fewer crops than before, and a bigger drop the shorter your season. That is the check working. - Every crop says what it expects: ready now, a partial pick before frost, or a warm autumn finishes it and a cool one may not. - Pre-emergent timing now knows which way the soil is moving. It was a temperature band and nothing else, so autumn soil falling back through the spring range reopened a window that closed in June. - The app can no longer recommend overseeding and pre-emergent on the same day. Pre-emergent stops seed germinating, and until now both could appear together. - Field and forage crops have left home garden recommendations. Sorghum, millet, alfalfa and the lawn grasses now sit in their own section or in LawnIQ. - A location that has never recorded a frost no longer gets a made up frost date. - A region is no longer treated as a point. Searching a state saved its centre and read the soil there. Fixes and improvements: - The planting window card recommended crops the app had already ruled out, offering tomatoes at a mountain location in August while the count below it correctly said no. - Two things on one screen both said Ready Now and gave different numbers. - Crops with no picture showed a plain green circle, and every lawn grass showed a golfer. - Pre-emergent timing had two separate rule sets that disagreed with each other between 58 and 67 degrees. - The floating PlantAI and LawnIQ control let crop names show through it, so two lines of text collided and neither could be read. Plant by Soil. ### 2.5.2 — 2026-08-19 SoilIQ 2.5.2: Fewer Notifications, Better Numbers Every notification now goes through one place that decides what you actually get, so they stop arriving on top of each other. And several numbers the app was showing you were wrong in ways that changed the advice. What's new: - Frost and freeze warnings come through Focus and Do Not Disturb. This has never worked before and it is the most important change here. - One system decides every notification. Several parts of the app used to schedule independently and nothing counted the total. - A daily limit, with two exceptions that are never limited: frost and freeze warnings, and watering times you set yourself. - Several watering plans due at the same time now arrive as one message rather than one per plant. - Only urgent things interrupt. Rain notices, the weekly brief and check-in reminders make no sound and do not wake your screen. - Watering reminders state the appointment you set and nothing more, with no claims about your soil in a message written two weeks earlier. - When the ground is already wet, the reminder still arrives at the time you chose and tells you that you can skip it. - Watering plan cards show each scheduled time, which are done and which are outstanding. Fixes and improvements: - Soil temperature was wrong at elevation. The correction was applied to the main Today reading and nowhere else, so the widget, the watch and every planting recommendation ran up to 8°F too warm. Corrected everywhere. - Wet ground was being called saturated. Anything above field capacity was reported that way, which is just what soil looks like after rain, and it blocked crops and warned about waterlogging on ground that was draining normally. - PlantAI could empty itself and the soil health score could go blank, with no way to recover until the next data fetch. - The soil health score could read 0 and Critical while conditions were ideal. When it genuinely cannot be calculated it now says so. - A watering plan set to twice a day was marked done for the whole day after a single watering. - The soil timing insight said the same thing every day all summer, and recommended corn and soybean planting regardless of what you grow. Where soil temperature is not the deciding factor, SoilIQ says so - Right depth, right crop: planting readiness is judged at the depth that matters for each crop, not the depth you happen to be viewing.
