## What is Sojourner +?

Sojourner turns the walking you already do into a pilgrimage.

There is nothing to start and nothing to stop. Your steps come quietly from Health while the app is closed, and they carry you along a real route — the roads Abraham, Israel, our Lord and the apostles actually travelled, drawn on the map with the distances they actually covered. When you reach a place, Sojourner tells you, and the account of what happened there is written into your journal for good.

TWENTY JOURNEYS

The Journeys of Israel — Abraham and Sarah's move out of Ur, Jacob's flight and return, Joseph's caravan into Egypt, the Exodus in three parts, Elijah's flight to Horeb, Jonah's flight, and the exile to Babylon and back.

The Journeys of our Lord Jesus Christ — the flight into Egypt, the Galilean ministry, the road to Jerusalem, and the Passion and Resurrection.

The Journeys of the Early Church — the road to Emmaus, and Philip's route out from Jerusalem.

The Journeys of St. Paul the Apostle — the road to Damascus, and all four missionary journeys, from Cyprus to the shipwreck on Malta and the last miles up the Appian Way.

Two hundred and twenty-two places in all, each with its chapter and verse and an account of what happened there.

READ THE PASSAGE

Every place that names chapter and verse opens the text itself, set as prose the way a printed Bible sets it. The whole Bible travels with the app in four translations — King James, World English, American Standard and Douay-Rheims — and is read offline, with no connection needed.

A PACE THAT FITS

The journeys run from twenty miles to two and a half thousand. Each one suggests a pace so it lands somewhere you can actually finish — a week for the road to Emmaus, a season for Paul's third journey.

A JOURNAL THAT KEEPS

Finished journeys stay in a library you can reopen and read again. Nothing you have walked is ever thrown away.

ON YOUR HOME SCREEN

A widget shows where you are and how far to the next place, in small and medium sizes and on the lock screen.

ON YOUR WRIST

An Apple Watch companion shows the same thing at a glance — where you are, how far to the next place, and your streak — with a complication for the watch face too.

NOTHING LEAVES YOUR DEVICE

No account. No server. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind. Health is read, never written, and nothing you do in Sojourner is transmitted anywhere.

HONEST ABOUT ITS SOURCES

Where Scripture gives only an outline, Sojourner says so rather than inventing detail. The flight into Egypt follows the route Coptic tradition preserved and Egyptian pilgrims still walk. The Exodus follows the itinerary set down in Numbers 33, and says plainly that many of its stations are unidentified and that both the crossing of the sea and the site of Sinai are disputed. Distances are estimates, and land within a few percent of the figures historians cite.

For iPhone. Requires iOS 17. Reads step count and walking distance from Health, with your permission. An Apple Watch companion is optional and requires watchOS 10.
