## What is Sojourneys?

Sojourney — Map Your Road Trips

Remember every mile. Sojourney transforms your travel photos into a stunning interactive journey map and slideshow — automatically.
Simply select photos from any road trip and Sojourney does the rest. It reads the GPS location and date built into each photo, groups them into stops along your route, and plots them on a beautiful map connected by a dashed route line. Your journey comes to life exactly as it happened.

How It Works-
Select photos from your library. Sojourney automatically detects each location, groups photos taken within the same area into stops, and builds your complete route — no typing, no tagging, no manual effort.

Beautiful Journey Maps-
Your route appears on the map with color-coded pins — green for where your trip began, red for where it ended, and blue for every stop in between. Choose from nine map styles including Standard, Terrain, Satellite, and four handcrafted sepia parchment styles for a vintage travel journal look.

Cinematic Slideshows-
Tap Play and relive your journey stop by stop. Each slide shows your photos, the location name, the date, and a pulsing mini-map showing exactly where you were on the route. Add captions to individual photos to capture the moment in your own words.

Add a Soundtrack-
Set the mood with music. Choose from five built-in royalty-free tracks — acoustic, cinematic, folk, upbeat, or ambient — or pick any song from your own iTunes library. Music fades in when the slideshow starts and fades out when it ends.

Share Your Journey-
Share with other Sojourney users as a .sojourney file they can open directly in the app. Or share as a temporary web link — anyone can watch your full interactive slideshow in Safari with no app needed. Or simply save to your Photos app and share via messages, email, Facebook, etc...

Manage Your Memories-
Add or remove photos from any stop after your trip is created. Add personal captions to individual photos. Rename your journeys. Store as many trips as you like.

Your Privacy Matters-
Sojourney works entirely on your device. Your photos and travel data are never uploaded or shared without your explicit action. No account required. No subscription. No ads.

Whether it's a weekend road trip, a cross-country adventure, or a family vacation — Sojourney turns your photos into a journey worth sharing.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8 — 2026-06-23

Updated time and date parameters that define a stop. Sojourney's now treats any pictures taken more than 250 meters apart as an individual stop. The time between photos within 250 meters that defines an individual stop was also updated from 96 hours to 24 hours. Tutorial and Help files updated accordingly.

### 1.7 — 2026-06-10

Added "About" menu to indicate the currently installed version. The menu also offers a "Check for Updates" tappable element. Fixed a bug that prevented saving of music changes that were selected during the viewing of a slideshow.

### 1.6 — 2026-06-07

Photo manager selection updated with grid layout and tap-to-select. Added an activity overlay with cancel button when app is updating trips.
Photos without GPS are no longer blocked - app gives warning and option to delete those pictures from a trip. Added Limited photo access warning for app functionality.
Video export memory crash fixed.

### 1.5 — 2026-06-04

Fixed photo storage issue that could cause app to crash when exporting a slideshow to Photos. UI improvements include: better Photo selection screen when deleting photos from a trip, improved cues for adding Comments to photos. Added status indicator when app is building trips, exporting slideshows, and when preparing slideshows for sharing.

### 1.4 — 2026-06-03

New photos (going forward): Resized to max 1200px and compressed to JPEG 70% quality on import. A typical 12MP photo goes from ~8MB → ~200-400KB. Your 100-photo trip would use ~30-40MB instead of 600MB — a 94% reduction.
Existing photos (one-time migration): On first launch after the update, if total storage exceeds 100MB, all existing photos are automatically compressed in the background.
Manual compress button in Settings: Users can tap "Compress Existing Photos" at any time to trigger compression. Shows current storage used.
