### 5/5 — Great! Turn up the screen brightness

*2024-04-29*

a. Great app! I used it to photograph the annular solar eclipse from the suburbs of Albuquerque. I left
the kit at home. I used the app on an iPhone 13 Pro. My wife used the app on an iPhone X. We each
used an improvised filter cut out from approved, silvered solar viewing glasses. The material caused an orange color and some haloes. What worked well. The autofocus worked great! I did not need to lock it.

I could not photograph the sunspot that we saw through binoculars but that may have been the filter.
The partial 60-sec timer. Changes. For some of us, the Zoom and Exp buttons got stuck on the left edge and needed tapping a few times. Maybe make them a few pixels bigger. Put the time on the screen so that we do not have to close the app to see the time. Annular eclipse is a bit over exposed even at the lowest exposure but that may be our filter.

b. Combined with a suitable filter, it provides easy adjustment of the zoom, exposure, and focus. There
is a button to take photos at regular intervals, an intervalometer. It worked well during the 2023 annular eclipse. You can temporarily attach an approved filter material to the phone using masking tape or binder clips!

c. In April 2024, we got the filter kit. It went on easily and the Velcro pad stayed on the back of the
phone. After you put on the filter, turn up the screen brightness. Now you can see the dim image
onscreen while squinting towards the partially eclipsed sun and the bright sky! It was too cloudy to use the app.

d. Try a zoom from near 4 to 15 and exposure near -2. For each eclipse, the autofocus worked well and
we did not have to manually adjust focus.

e. Unclear which lens it uses on a multi-lens phone. For example, for a 6X zoom does it use the 2X lens
and 3X optical zoom or 5X lens and 1.2X digital zoom?

### 2/5 — 2024 Eclipse

*2024-04-17, version 1.2*

I had high hopes that my iPhone 15 Pro Max along with this app and filter would take good photos, however almost everything was blurry though on a tripod. The app automatically changed the lighting with each consecutive shot which made them all terrible. I don’t understand the logic behind that.

Good thing I had my Sony handicap set up with a special lens that I could pull a still photo or two from that.

### 5/5 — Solar Snap

*2024-04-15, version 1.2*

Very high quality and stable application.

### 5/5 — This might be the best space app I’ve ever downloaded

*2024-04-12, version 1.2*

The greatest thing about this app is you can zoom in on anything and increase the brightness lower the brightness and you don’t just have to do it on the sun you can also do it on anything also you can take pictures of the new music this app I took a picture of my dog and it had better focus set my camera I love this app I recommend this🤘🏻

### 5/5 — Amazing!!

*2024-04-12, version 1.2*

NASA recommended to buy a filter for your cell phone camera and posted a few web stores to buy them from. The filter that Solar Snap uses was the highest rated one, so I bought it.

I’m so freaking happy I did! We drove 10+ hours to see the totality of the eclipse on 4/8/24 and this app and filter made our photos! The app lets you adjust for Focus, Zoom, and Exposure and that made all the difference! I even took a few photos without using Solar Snap and you can’t tell we were at an eclipse.

Others I know also used Solar Snap and were extremely pleased. I will definitely use this app for future eclipses!

### 5/5 — Perfect app for the eclipse!

*2024-04-12, version 1.2*

Used this gem to get shots of the totality in Franklin Indiana. Easy to use, the filter worked great, and the shots were equal to the glasses I wore. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Kept my gear from eclipsing my experience

*2024-04-10, version 1.2*

FANTASTIC APP that allowed me to use an older iPhone 8+ as a camera on a small tracking scope (ETX90) to capture great shots of the April 2024 eclipse. Auto-bracketing on preselected timer intervals is a GENIUS move. Now get to work on some more iPhone Astrophotography apps!!

### 5/5 — Thanks for the awesome app

*2024-04-09, version 1.2*

This app was phenomenal for taking amazing Solar eclipse photos with my iPhone max. Super crisp. The auto total eclipse setting was wonderful for hands off photos while I was able to watch the eclipse. Thank you so much for creating this app and giving me great memories of the eclipse from Ohio.

### 5/5 — Works As Advertized

*2024-04-09, version 1.2*

The app did exactly what the App Store description said it would. In conjunction with a filter, I was able to get great photos of the eclipse.

Bonus points for not harvesting every byte of data off my iPhone.

### 5/5 — Great app. Leaving a 5-star before uninstall

*2024-04-09, version 1.2*

Great app, allowed me to take beautiful eclipse pictures just with my iphone. I wish there would be solar eclipse everyday so I could use this app on a daily basis 😆. Unfortunately that’s not the case. I feel sorry to uninstall this excellent app the day after the eclipse. But I will make sure Im coming back in 20 years when the next total eclipse comes into play. LOL.

### 4/5 — Used to take awesome photos of the 2024 eclipse!

*2024-04-09, version 1.2*

I was having trouble taking photos with just my iPhone camera as the sun was too bright and the eclipse was not showing up in regular pictures…
until I found this app!

It was simple to download, relatively easy to use, and took pretty decent photos for me!

The only thing that could be considered “bad” was that when the sun was in a partial (but close to a total) eclipsed state with 99% of the sun being covered, even with the app, I was unable to get a photo of that almost-total eclipse :(. Don’t let that dissuade you from getting this however- I probably did not take enough time to fiddle with the app’s settings so it’s on me!

Anyway, great app! I’ll be sure to re-download it in 20 years when the next eclipse happen haha!

### 5/5 — Exceeded our expectations!!!

*2024-04-09, version 1.2*

This app worked great with the solar kit that contained 2 sets of glasses & phone lens covers. We were at Big Bend National Park for the partial eclipse & we had some of the best pictures taken with an iPhone compared to other visitors. So glad I got this for all the family!!!

### 1/5 — Bof

*2026-08-12*

Je suis désolé, mais j’ai utilisé l’appli pour l’éclipse en Espagne et j’ai pris de meilleures photos en passant par l’appareil photo de l’iPhone.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2026-08-12, version 2.0.8*

Didn’t even slightly work. Only works if buy extra filter that it doesn’t mention obviously. Robbed

### 1/5 — Waste of time and attention

*2024-04-15, version 1.2*

I took probably 150 eclipse pictures with this app on the day of (the self-timing feature is nice, so credit to that). The picture that my wife casually took on her phone’s camera was better than all of them! Very disappointing to see.

### 1/5 — It doesn’t work

*2024-04-09, version 1.2*

Aiming it at the totality, about 30 seconds were wasted on this app. It took a perfect totality and produced a blur. Total waste of precious time during a totality.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2024-04-09, version 1.2*

The only reason I purchase two kits was for the camera filters. Totally unimpressed with their performance. Wish I hadn’t spent the money on them.

### 1/5 — Didn’t work?????

*2024-04-08, version 1.2*

Very disappointed

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The perfect eclipse companion!

*2026-08-15*

I was able to take amazing photos of the August 2026 solar eclipse with the app + camera filter! And the in-app timer was super useful to get ready for the different stages of the eclipse. My experience wouldn’t have been the same without this app! A big thank you to the developers 😃

### 5/5 — Brilliant for automated totality

*2026-08-13, version 2.0.8*

This app saved me! Took some super shots on my iPhone and the automated totality option was fab. It’s takes a range of pics every few seconds automatically. Leaving you to enjoy the moment

### 5/5 — Super

*2026-08-13*

Was able to take nice shots of the 2026 eclipse in Paris also using the protection layer on the camera. Good results and guidance thanks to the app 🌙

### 5/5 — Great app! Switch off Auto-Lock

*2026-08-06, version 2.0.7*

Like the latest version! Set Auto-Lock to Never. Otherwise, your phone will lock during the run and you will not get the expected sequence. That happened to me during testing
