## What is Solar Watch for SolarEdge?

Solar Watch lets you monitor your SolarEdge power production right on the watch face of your Apple Watch, on the Home Screen Widget and the Lock Screen Widget on your iOS devices, and using Siri. You can create Siri shortcuts and then say for example: "Hey Siri, what's the current power" - and hear the response.
To access Siri Shortcuts, tap the app menu in the top/right, then tap on "Siri Shortcuts".

Every watch complication type is supported, with special attention given to complications that use gauges.

During daytime, the complications are displaying current power production, and total daily energy produced. Gauges are color-coded, and show the percentage of current power vs. the maximum.
During night time, the complication gauges act as a timer that counts down how much time roughly there is until sunrise.

Watch app has a scrollable view with various stats, including daily, monthly and yearly total power, as well as environmental benefits and calculated revenue.

Current power, daily and monthly production is also displayed in the iOS widgets, both on the Home Screen and on the Lock Screen..

Based on the robust and proven codebase that powers Thermo Watch and Watch Cam apps, enjoyed by tens of thousands of users. The app is extremely quick and efficient, with near-instant launch time, and seamless background updates.

While the app's minimalist looks betray the simplicity of its operation, what they don't show is the amount of planning, design, development and refinement that went into it, ensuring it becomes something that is enjoyable to use and experience.

The goal was to make a product that would not look out of place next to one of the apps bundled with the Apple Watch.

Basically a nice app. Installing is a nuisance because you need an API key which only the company that installed my system had. But my major problem is that it doesn't show your battery state. I sent the author a question but received no reply  
In addition I am finding that it returns very inaccurate results. My watch now shows 0.4 Kw and my phone 3.75Kw. At night it also shows power being generated. Only 0.3 or 0.4 Kw the moon cannot generate even that value -Paul-

The battery state would require another separate data call, of which the app already makes quite a few, and I'm worried about the service rate limits. This is why I try to be selective with what to display. Since the app will likely need a bit of a rework soon, I'll take another closer look at this.
As for the difference between what the watch shows and what the iOS app shows - are you referring to the value displayed on the watch face complication? If so, that value could be lagging behind the actual live state, and you can confirm this by launching the app on the watch. Let me know if the watch app or the iOS app opened during the night still shows 0.3-0.4Kw values. If they do, can you confirm if the Solar Edge's own iOS app shows those values during that time. Apparently, as of March 2026 SolarEdge has discontinued their watch app. Downloaded this one to give it a try. I had a few issues with some of the data, not appearing correctly. Contacted the developer. He responded back to my email within 24 hours. Apparently SolarEdge had tinkered with some of the data fetching on the API side of the SolarEdge server. The developer corrected these issues and released an updated version a couple of days later. Fantastic developer with great customer service/support. Now that I have been using the Solar Watch for SolarEdge app for a couple of weeks now. I can tell you it has way more features and displayable information than the SolarEdge watch version.

Leider ist die Datenübermittlung im Umfang eingeschränkt - nur die Produktion, nicht der Verbrauch oder die Batterielage werden gezeigt . Bei Nullproduktion ( nachts) wird immer noch 0.3-0,4 kw Leistung angegeben. Neuinstallation ohne Änderung. Der „Nachtmodus“ kommt somit auch nicht zum Tragen. Update möglich?

Note that for this to work, your phone must be nearby to provide network connectivity. On watchOS, the background data download for complications doesn’t work if the watch is on its own on LTE. If it's not working like this for you, try restart­ing the watch and iPhone at the same time, then start the app again on the watch, and see if it starts up­dat­ing in the back­ground. If that doesn’t help, try unpairing the watch from the phone and pairing it again. Let me know at mar­conel­ly@gmail.­com if the com­pli­ca­tion still won't up­date on its own even af­ter the restart.

While the app works, the complication doesn’t show current production until you select it and force a refresh. I was hoping for like updates every 15 mins like the widget.  I was hoping for something different than the official SolarEdge watch app which is free and does the same

I’ve used this app for years and it’s been just what I want. Recently though it’s resetting to zero at six PM local time instead of at midnight. That’s before sunset this time of year. I contacted the developer through their site but have not heard back.

Number zero could be showing if the unit is not producing any power, but I’m not sure if that is what you’re seeing.

I’m really enjoying how much faster it is than the solar edge app. The watch complications are nice also. 

Two things that would make it even better:
- iOS 14 widgets
- better background watch complication refresh, perhaps based on the 5 min intervals imposed by the solar edge api 🤔
