I’ve always wanted to explore new, less known places but the effort to find out how/ if it’s actually accessible has stopped me. Sole Drift does it all for me. We do include free locations so you can explore the app before deciding to join 🙂 ### 1/5 — Great idea, then they ask for money… *2026-08-19* Find another way to monetise this **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! We completely understand that everyone would prefer free access. The reality is that researching and verifying hundreds of locations, providing detailed information, continually adding new spots and maintaining the app takes hundreds of hours and significant ongoing investment. For Sole Drift to exist and keep improving, it has to be funded. We could fill the app with advertising instead, but we’d rather offer a clean, quick and easy experience built around planning adventures - not watching ads. We’re also proud that a portion of our profits goes towards environmental charities helping protect the places we all love to explore 🌎 ### 1/5 — Paywall *2026-08-18* Almost Everything is stuck behind a ridiculously expensive paywall, with less than 20 locations available. Disappointing app.👎 **Developer response:** Sole Drift does offer free locations, but full access is a paid product - much like purchasing a travel guidebook in a shop. What makes Sole Drift different is the hundreds of hours of research behind it. Our members get access to hundreds of carefully researched locations, with exact coordinates and detailed information such as hike distance, duration, difficulty, facilities, phone reception, safety notes and more - all designed to take the research out of finding your next adventure. There’s a significant cost involved in researching, building and continually improving the platform, and we’re also proud to donate a portion of our profits to environmental charities helping protect the places we love to explore 🌿 ### 2/5 — Looks like it’s in beginning stage *2026-08-16* App is a great idea but there is very little content yet, looks as though they are relying on people to build the content instead of starting with a solid foundation of options in Australia to build on. We’re a little surprised by the “very little content” comment, as Sole Drift currently includes around 1,000 curated locations across Australia alone.. and we don’t crowdsource our map or rely on users to build it for us. Every location is researched and selected by our team to maintain the quality of the spots featured. Locations can include exact coordinates, photos, descriptions, hike duration and distance, difficulty, safety information, facilities, phone reception, dog access and more - giving explorers the information they need to actually plan their visit, rather than simply providing pins on a map. As you mentioned you deleted the app within 5 minutes, it sounds like much of this may have been missed. We’d genuinely love for you to take another look and explore the map properly - there’s already a huge amount waiting to be discovered, with plenty more being added. 🗺️ ### 5/5 — Australia trip MUST-HAVE *2026-08-25* This is an absolute must have for anyone travelling Australia. Google and ChatGPT will always point you to the overcrowded well known spots (even if they claim not to be) but there really are some properly curated hidden gems on this. Type of spots that are really memorable. They cover UK and Australia. They have researched and travelled to offer the best advice and experiences. I can pick and choose what I want and save them for future adventures which I have started going on. I was never sure where to start but now I have something. Thought I knew it all but since using Sole Drift, how wrong I was! Have already discovered views, treks and lots of other wonders that I didn’t know existed. This is a serious in depth app that gives you all the info you need in a clear, precise and easy to use way but still manages to make you feel like you’re finding something new on your own.
