Alerts on any movement the camera sees - including things 100 ft away from the camera. But everyday when I delete recordings, it loads videos from 2 to 3 days prior that I already deleted. So it continues to reload videos that have been deleted. ### 2/5 — 2 stars. Keeps giving 2 second videos. *2024-09-08* I have it set for 20 second videos to be received but I keep getting 2 second videos. I submitted feedback and they said that it would record videos up to 20 seconds but will stop if the motion stops before 20 seconds BUT the birds are ALWAYS there MORE THAN 2 seconds. And now I keep getting 2 second videos. Please fix this! It’s very frustrating and annoying. ### 2/5 — Doesn’t identify birds. *2024-01-18* Our BF-09 is supposed to identify bird species. It instead shows a bird as a pet or a person. Not once has it called a bird a bird let alone identify what species of bird. I contacted support and all they did was send instructions on how to set up the app which I’ve already done. ### 2/5 — Good but privacy issue *2024-01-01* App does what it’s supposed to do. I like the user sharing feature. Only thing is I want to download and share bird videos , but the app demands full access to my photos on my device. This is unacceptable, I only need to allow the app to add videos or selectively choose which to share. I’m not giving this company full access to read and view my photos without my knowledge. ### 2/5 — Since the update *2023-12-13* The indicator lights keep turning off and on all the time. It’s draining the battery and they are set to off. Might be scaring the birds away too as activity is down. :( and if you let us grade if your bird selection is right i will tell your AI all the birds. You can use where they are located to narrow down the list as well. It keeps suggesting exotic species native to completely other countries. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No free/low cost *2025-05-13* Really disappointed that there is no lower cost app version of this bird-feeder. I received it as a gift and I guess it only works temporarily with the app before you have to “buy” a subscription. The cheapest annual version is $60- I wouldn’t pay that just to watch birds on my phone at my feeder… ### 1/5 — Never loads *2025-04-13, version 1.1.1* Mid. Everything on the feeder works, easy install. The live feed NEVER LOADS. I try to use it to acesss the alarm feature for squirrels. It’s horrible. App is such a mess ### 1/5 — This app doesn’t work *2025-03-21* I’m really disappointed that this app will not allow me to create an account so I can use the hummingbird feeder and camera that requires it. The feeder looks good, came with extra parts and the manual was high quality with clear English text, mostly. I called tech support and they didn’t solve the problem. I also couldn’t download the user agreement or the privacy policy. Odd, if not suspicious. I’m not going to get another Soliom product and I have to send the feeder back. ### 1/5 — Chinese government business? *2024-12-29, version 1.1.1* This is a state owned enterprise of the Chinese government. I don’t feel comfortable using their camera to record birds in my backyard. ### 1/5 — Data Privacy issues, poor AI, clunky UI, Overpriced *2024-03-16* Important to note, to save or send videos, you must allow FULL Access to your photos which raises red flags. To use the AI feature for my bird camera, I had to sign up for $2.99/mo (now increased to $6.99!). The AI is not accurate. It falsely identifies birds as hawks, parakeets and species I’ve heard of because they aren’t in this region. It also falsely tells me it sees a person, pet, vehicle. At $2.99 it was a fun novelty. The user interface is clunky and should play videos in succession without going back a screen and selecting another. Only 1 app login allowed at the same time, so using on 2 devices requires signing out of one then into the other. Stupid. ### 1/5 — Membership Cost More than Doubling! *2024-03-10* I honestly have loved this feeder since I got it for Christmas. And I added the basic AI membership to be able to learn about the birds visiting the feeder. This morning, I received a notification that the $2.99 fee is being increased to $6.99 a month!! More than doubling is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. And of course it’s too late to return and get something else. Avoid this bait and switch company! ### 1/5 — Have to sign in every time *2024-03-02* I have the app on my phone and iPad. Every time I open the app it says that my account is being used on another device and it makes me sign in every time. Absolute garbage. Why can’t I use this on more than one device? ### 1/5 — BE CAREFUL! Requires full access to every photo on your phone, which isn’t necessary. *2023-12-31* So this app is used to interact with the camera bird feeder. It takes video of birds and then gives you the option to save those videos to your phone so you can share them with friends. This should ONLY require “Limited Access” permissions on IOS, which allows the app to store videos in your photos library. However, when you grant this permission it still won’t let you save the photo and keeps prompting you to give it FULL access which is not necessary just to save the videos. Giving full access is giving this random Chinese company access to your entire photo library. Every photo and video stored on your phone. It can add, modify, delete, anything it wants. Since it’s an app on your phone, it can even send all of your pictures and videos back to its manufacturer. This is a HUGE red flag and massive security issue. I refused to grant that level of access to my personal life to a bird feeder and returned it. Pay attention to the permissions you are granting this thing folks. ### 1/5 — User Agreement *2023-11-30* Perhaps it’s a good app but I will not agree to use it until the User Agreement is available on the app for review. The link doesn’t work. There is too much abuse by app developers of our personal data (ie TikTok is a great example… if you’re using it, they have access to other data on your phone upon your consent). Won’t let me submit feedback ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — The best bird feeder with camera!!! *2024-06-03* We searched and searched for a bird camera with feeder and this product is outstanding study pretty has its own solar panel - camera never goes flat - beautiful picture quality - and many recording and viewing options - we did try another 3 products but they failed and broke within days …… and this was the best priced one too ……can’t fault it …we love it !!!!!!!!! ### 5/5 — Works perfectly *2024-04-09* The Soliom camera (bird feeder) I have has many features. I found this app to be quite intuitive and it didn’t take me long to navigate through it. All functions work perfectly. A good app supporting a good product. My wife and I both have to hunt around for the live view. Seems like default is viewing recordings. Put a button for Live view and I’ll give it 5 stars. ### 3/5 — They need to allow access for more than one device. *2025-12-02* We got this for our mother and wanted to be able to share in the fun of looking at birds (at the very least her and my dad)… but only one user can be logged in at a time. Very silly, ring app allows multiple people and there is no reason this one can’t. Please change this so more people can enjoy the bird feeder. ### 3/5 — Hard to clean *2025-01-05* The feeder itself and camera works well. However trying to clean the unit is difficult. This is because the top part does not come off per the label affixed to it. This is “to prevent leakage”. I believe the later models do have a removable top and bottoms. ### 3/5 — Paid for but no AI pro *2024-02-14* We purchased the yearly AI pro for our Soliom pro bird feeder a couple days ago and has yet to show up on our app at all. They started asking me to update immediately after loading the app, which itself is pretty weird. Why would the app load an old version? I can still access video of the birds, so it’s working.
