## What is Solspot?

Solspot measures how much light a spot in your home actually gets — then tells you which plants will live there.

Lay your phone flat where the plant will sit, screen toward the light. Solspot reads your camera's light meter and gives you an honest answer: a category, a number, and the real range around it.

MEASURE THE SPOT, NEVER THE PLANT
Light is a property of a place, not a leaf. Solspot measures the light arriving where a plant would sit, the same way a leaf receives it.

AN HONEST ANSWER, NOT FAKE PRECISION
Every reading comes with the range it could really be. When your device hasn't been calibrated, the range widens and Solspot says so. If a spot is brighter than the camera can measure, Solspot tells you that instead of inventing a number.

PLANTS THAT WILL ACTUALLY LIVE THERE
Matched against your measured light — with the caveats included. A plant that will survive but sulk is shown as exactly that, not hidden behind a percentage.

PET SAFETY, SOURCED NOT GUESSED
Pet toxicity comes from the ASPCA's lists and nowhere else. When ASPCA doesn't list a species, Solspot says "unverified" rather than guessing. "We don't know" is never presented as "safe".

SAVED SPOTS AND SEASONAL RE-CHECKS
Save a windowsill and watch its light change through the year. Light in January is not light in July, and Solspot reminds you to re-check.

FULLY OFFLINE
No account, no backend, no photos. The camera is used as a light sensor: no images are captured, stored, or sent anywhere.

FREE — NO SUBSCRIPTION, NO ADS, NO IN-APP PURCHASES
Every light reading including direct sunlight, the category and its honest range, plant matches with their caveats, every filter, buy links, and unlimited saved spots. All of it, free. The competitors that paywall sunlight are the reason this app exists.
