## What is SommelierX?

Any dish. Any wine. One calculated match.

Start with tonight's plate—or the bottle already on your table. Describe a dish in your own words, photograph it, build it from ingredients, search for a wine or scan its label. SommelierX translates what you have into taste and calculates what belongs with it.

No popularity contest. No random review score. A clear recommendation, a match score and an explanation you can actually use.

START FROM EITHER SIDE

• Describe any dish in your own words
• Photograph a plate and let SommelierX recognise it
• Build any dish from ingredients and cooking method
• Search for a wine or scan its label
• Reverse the pairing: start with a bottle and find the food
• Find one wine for different dishes around the same table

SEE WHY IT WORKS

Every recommendation is based on Wine DNA. Professional sommeliers scored 609 foundational wine styles across 19 wine dimensions, including body, acidity, tannin, sweetness, aroma intensity and minerality. SommelierX compares those profiles with 17 dish dimensions and searches more than 314,000 concrete wines.

The result is repeatable and explainable: the same taste profile produces the same calculated recommendation. You see which characteristics connect the food and wine—not just whether strangers liked the bottle.

BUILT FOR REAL EVENINGS

• Pair food and wine in a few taps
• Scan a restaurant wine list
• Ask Sommy a wine question in plain language
• Save bottles in your Wine Cellar
• Keep tasting notes, favourites and pairing history
• Discover wines by colour, taste or occasion
• Use group and occasion pairing for the whole table

17 YEARS OF PAIRING EXPERTISE

SommelierX is the next generation of WineStein: a pairing engine developed over 17 years with scientists and professional sommeliers. Its earlier technology calculated more than 8 million historical pairings, reached 500,000 previous downloads and supported restaurants across 7 countries. That proven foundation has been rebuilt for every table.

FREE AND PREMIUM

Every core feature is available free within daily usage limits. Complete Wine DNA, complete Dish DNA and the reason behind every match remain visible to Guest, Free and Premium users. Premium removes the usage limits for uninterrupted pairing, chatting, scanning, saving and tasting notes—and supports an independent, advertising-free product.

You do not need to know wine. Just bring the plate or the bottle. SommelierX calculates the rest.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.10.36 — 2026-08-17

Wine labels are read more accurately: a premier cru or grand cru now shows up as exactly that, and French wines display AOC. The winemaker's story no longer appears in English where it shouldn't. Voice input no longer gets stuck. And when photographing a bottle, there's no longer a button that does nothing.

### 1.10.35 — 2026-08-15

Duplicate and unclear choices in Pair and Sommy have been removed, helping you reach the right feature faster.

### 1.10.34 — 2026-08-12

Scanning a wine list runs smoothly again — confirming the wine colour could get stuck, and that is fixed.
A menu with one unrecognised wine line no longer blocks the whole menu.
Voice input recognises shellfish accurately again; one species is no longer silently replaced by another.
Without camera access, the button now actually takes you to your settings.
Sending feedback is more reliable: the screenshot is now included properly.

### 1.10.33 — 2026-08-11

The winemaker's story now appears separately from the tasting note on a wine. If that story is missing, we look it up when you open the wine and save it, so it is there next time. Plus text corrections.

### 1.10.32 — 2026-08-06

Redesigned Discover screen, smarter wine label scanning and small improvements. Trying the app without an account? You can now easily secure your wine advice and cellar with a free account.
