I will have the device on if I wake up in the middle of the night keep it on and it will register me as if I’m in REM sleep. I would take the device off, but if I take the device off for too long, sometimes it says that I’m not due for another session so I don’t know if it’ll pick up the rest of my sleep in the night. The headband itself falls off frequently at night. I will wake up with it not on my forehead and it registering that I had deep sleep. There’s nowhere in the app that I can leave feedback that I can find so that’s why I’m leaving this review. I’m hoping that these issues will be fixed because I believe the device may be effective but I’m am not for certain due to the fact, I can’t trust the data of my sleep that it pulls. ### 2/5 — A Chore *2025-12-24, version 2.00.10* The app is not intuitive. I have had to ping support and seek third party explanations on how to use it, and it still only works marginally. The device feels helpful for getting to sleep more quickly and deeply than I would otherwise. App is easy to use. A point is taken off because I’m not a fan of auto-renewing subscription-based services and devices that require frequently disposed-of accessories (the snap-in electrode gel pads) and the headband design needs improvement if a sensitive sleeper like me is going to successfully wear it all night for the tracking features. ### 5/5 — Truly helps and I recommend *2025-10-27* I don’t necessarily suffer from poor sleep, but I do have a hard time going to sleep on many nights. My first solution was melatonin, but then I learned that you can build a dependency and also negatively effect your body’s natural melatonin if you use too much. So I began looking for alternative solutions and stumbled upon Somnee. At first, I found the headband not uncomfortable, but definitely new to wear on my head overnight. But once I got used to it, and wore it for a few nights, I started noticing that I could fall asleep so much easier. Honestly, the fact that you can just go and buy this technology still blows my mind. After trying to help me resolve it via email they quickly escalated it and set up a virtual video session. They walked through trouble shooting steps, and realized in real time that they should send me a replacement. No fuss or force. Just great collaborative support. Great device and great team ! ### 5/5 — Lifesaver for longtime sleep struggles. *2025-10-21* I never really have a hard time falling asleep and have found that taking magnesium before bed helps, but I’ve always struggled with overnight wake ups. Somnee came recommended from a physician friend that told me to check it out since I’m against any side effects that prescription sleep meds cause. I started out skeptical but thought I’d give it a shot. After going through their brain mapping and personalization steps I not only improved the time it took to fall asleep, but I started sleeping through the whole night. The headband takes a couple nights to get used to and the app is pretty intuitive and easy to use. I’ve been using it mainly for the stimulation aid but do sleep with the headband overnight a couple days a week to compare the data with my Eight Sleep. They say the tracking is coming directly from the brain and I’ve found it to be similar to my Eight Sleep but with more detailed sleep phase tracking. I’m happy with the product and encourage anyone that is struggling with sleep to try it out. The first couple of weeks were great—my sleep improved, especially my deep sleep, and I was excited to see how it would continue. But after that, things went downhill. Instead of getting better over time, my sleep actually got worse. It felt like the more the system "learned," the less effective it became. I tried reaching out to customer support, and during my first year, they reset my algorithm, which helped for a short time. But the improvements didn’t last, and when I renewed my membership for another year to give them a second chance, I ran into the same issues. Customer support wasn’t as helpful the second time, and I’m stuck with a product that doesn’t work for me. On top of that, there’s no option for a refund. Overall, I regret giving Somnee a second chance. It had potential, but it doesn’t deliver the consistent, long-term results it promises. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable sleep solution. ### 5/5 — Get a great night’s sleep with Somnee *2025-06-26* Before I started using Somnee, I often struggled to fall asleep—and even when I did, I’d wake up during the night and have trouble getting back to sleep. Since using Somnee (along with keeping my room cool), I fall asleep faster and sleep more deeply. On the rare occasion that I do wake up in the middle of the night, Somnee helps me return to sleep quickly and calmly. Beyond the effectiveness of the device itself, the customer service is outstanding. I've reached out several times with questions, and every time I’ve been impressed by their fast responses and genuine willingness to help. They're generous with their time and clearly care about their customers’ experience. There are plenty of products on the market claiming to improve your sleep—but Somnee is the only one that has actually made a difference for me. Headband is not reliable in middle of the night is asking for a reset but won’t reset to restart a new session. Most importantly if you wake up in the middle of the night with head band on and you press button to start session assuming session starts…the app stops tracking and recording sleep for the remainder of the night. Consequently only reporting first session prior to waking up. Software needs work!!! Customer service is Non Existent!!! Can only communicate via email.. no chat, no 800# most reviews appear to be fake. Can’t tell how effective cause the device seems buggy. Otherwise u just spend 549 bucks and get a brick made in Vietnam. ### 1/5 — Don’t buy Somnee *2025-09-10* My partner bought this gadget hoping it would help him sleep better, but it didn’t help at all. I decided to try it myself, but couldn’t get it set up. The whole experience has been really frustrating, the device is expensive, and then you’re stuck paying for a subscription you may not want or need. Having to connect through the app means looking at a phone screen while in bed, which makes it even harder to relax. Connecting takes time, so instead of feeling calmer, I ended up even more stressed. Both of us reached out to customer service to fix issues with the subscription, but they weren’t helpful. I was even charged for something that was supposed to be included. Overall, the device didn’t work for either of us, the subscription was confusing and costly, and support didn’t solve anything. I can’t recommend this product based on our experience. ### 1/5 — Too Many Uncertainties for a New Users *2025-02-07* As a potential new user l only learned of the risks in commitment after ordering the system. Users are having to make many assumptions that should be dealt with in a more detailed presentation. At a minimum they should have a video illustrating how these non-intuitive components are to be used, an FAQ and proper manual are needed. What analytics does this system provide? (I learned more from the comments than anything the company provided). This is a small company with no guarantee of longevity. An annual subscription is an invitation for future price gouging. Why don’t they just sell the electrodes in bulk? Similarly, there’s no warranty on the headband. These are all things that should be relatively easy to provide. Their absence makes me leery of making the kind of commitment on the basis of so many gaps in the brand’s communications. ### 1/5 — Questionable Device and Deceptive Trial Period *2024-10-17* Ordered Somnee based on 30 day trial period. Almost at the end of trial period, my physician has determined I have a sleep disorder, and Somnee is not helping in any way possible. Contacted Somnee for the 30 day trial period only to be met with a cold response. First of all, Somnee customer service response has no name, only Customer Service. In the email response, I was told 30 days began at time of order AND NOT upon activation of device after arrival. The shipping time will be deducted from you 30 days. Second, there was no mention of the 1 year membership required for cancellation. Or offer to cancel. I had to ask independently to cancel. Sad experience as I had hope for this device only to be met with roadblocks one after another. Be careful before you pay about $450 at first shipment. ### 1/5 — App is extremely buggy and data useless *2024-01-19, version 1.0.49* Sleep tracking? Yeah, apparently they decided that you have to wait until finishing your NEXT sleep cycle to view the previous days data. Absolutely useless. App is very buggy overall and actually prevented me from using the headband the first night because it was in “cool down mode”. Seriously? Wth kind of design decision is that.. Can’t say it’s done anything for me other than cause frustration when trying to go to sleep because of the app. Will be returning my unit soon, great idea just horribly implemented… especially for the steep price. ### 1/5 — Buggy and unreliable *2024-01-18* Spent an hour today setting the thing up and learning about it. With Somnee, it made everything work smoothly and I have seen positive impact quickly. Also, the customer service is top notch!! The use of audio guidance to help with getting started in using your Somnee device is helpful. ### 5/5 — Huge improvement with the V2 headband *2026-04-10* I purchased the version one headband when I first saw it about a year and a half ago. I was using it fairly often after the training mode. It really helped me get to sleep faster overtime. I was having more issues with the headband and it connecting with the app sometimes causing recently. I decide I had an issue with the battery and I emailed customer service about a replacement unit or paying for an upgrade to the they gave me the option to upgrade to the new unit. It arrived super fast and wow, version two is a huge improvement. The sound is built into the headband. The app connects way faster the battery last longer, and the effects seem to kick in a lot faster I definitely recommend the new version two headband to anybody that’s considering. In the future, I hope that insomnia adds a few different sleep, tones or sleep meditation sounds. But now as I have transitioned to an OF you find you need some handholding with a science fiction device like the Somnee. This is where their Customer Service comes in. Problems opening the box?
