## What is SomniTune?

SomniTune helps you find out which sleep sounds and bedtime rituals actually work for you.

Play a sound as you fall asleep — rain, thunder, ocean, a stream, a crackling fireplace, a purring cat, a fan, brown or pink noise, calm ambient music, or singing bowls and chimes for meditation — and set a sleep timer. In the morning, SomniTune pairs what you played with the sleep data in Apple Health and shows how each night went: total sleep, time to fall asleep, deep and REM sleep, and a hypnogram of your sleep stages.

WHICH SOUND IS FASTEST FOR YOU
From the second night you try a sound, Insights names the one you fall asleep fastest with — and says how clear the difference really is, measured against how much your own nights vary. When two sounds are inside each other's noise, it tells you that instead of picking a winner.

WAKE-UP ALARM
Set the time you must be up by and a window of 15, 30 or 45 minutes, or an hour, before it. Inside that window SomniTune watches for the moment you start moving and rings then; otherwise it rings at your time exactly, never after it. An iPhone measures movement and sound, not sleep stages, so the earlier moment is a judgement about movement and nothing more. On iOS 26 the alarm is rung by iOS itself, like the Clock app's: on silent, through a Focus, and whether or not SomniTune is running. On earlier iOS your set time is scheduled as a notification, so it still rings if the app is not running.

WORKS WITH APPLE HEALTH
SomniTune reads sleep data from Apple Health, which includes Apple Watch and sleep trackers that sync to Health, such as smart rings.

NO WATCH OR RING? YOUR IPHONE CAN TRY
Leave your iPhone on the bed or nightstand and SomniTune estimates the night from how still it lay and, if you allow it, what the room sounded like: when you settled, how restless you were, snoring, and the noises that disturbed you. Sound is analysed on your iPhone and never uploaded.

A phone cannot measure sleep stages or heart rate — those need a watch or a ring — and if you don't sleep alone, some of what it hears may belong to the person beside you. You can also just explore the app in Demo mode with sample nights.

YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
Health data is read on your device to build your sleep insights. SomniTune does not sell your data or use it for advertising.

SOMNITUNE PRO
Some sounds and features require SomniTune Pro, an auto-renewing subscription available monthly or yearly. Pro includes the full sound library and keeping the few seconds of audio around your snoring, so you can hear it back. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase, after any free trial ends. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings (Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions).

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.3 — 2026-10-11

SomniTune now speaks German: the whole app and its App Store page are available in Deutsch.

### 1.3.2 — 2026-10-10

Three new sounds: Green Noise, a soft mid-range noise; Café Murmur, a quiet café in the background; and Distant Highway, a muffled road at night with a car passing now and then. All three are in Pro.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-10-02

Meditation: seven new soundscapes for winding down — singing bowls, a crystal bowl, Tibetan bells, two kinds of wind chimes, a slow bowl drone and a handpan in a garden. Singing Bowls is free.

Three new music beds: Ethereal Choir, Drift and Tanpura.

SomniTune now speaks Spanish.

Also fixed: counts now read "1 night" rather than "1 nights", times follow your iPhone's clock format everywhere, and the sleep-stage chart labels no longer break.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-30

Your alarm now rings like the Clock app's.

On iOS 26, SomniTune hands its alarm to iOS itself, so it rings on silent and through a Focus, full screen, whether or not the app is running, with Stop and Snooze on the lock screen. Allow Alarms when SomniTune asks. On earlier iOS it works as before.

The early ring can now start up to an hour before your set time, as well as 15, 30 or 45 minutes.

Fixed: an early ring could fail to make any sound, and stopping the alarm from its notification left SomniTune listening through the morning. Answering the alarm now ends the night's listening.

A purring cat, distant thunder, the waterfall and pink noise now play at their proper level through the iPhone speaker. They had been losing most of their low end.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-27

A wake-up alarm that can ring a little early.

Set the time you need to be up by, and how early SomniTune may wake you: 15, 30 or 45 minutes. Inside that window it watches the movement it already records overnight, and if you have started stirring it rings then instead of waiting. If nothing like that turns up, it rings at your time exactly — never after it. An iPhone measures movement and sound, not sleep stages, so this is a judgement about movement and nothing more, and the app says so where you set it.

Ringing at your set time does not depend on SomniTune running: that time is also a notification, so the alarm still goes off if the app closed or your iPhone restarted overnight.

Five new sounds: a purring cat, crickets, a waterfall, distant thunder, and pink noise — the one colour of noise with real sleep trials behind it.

Your fastest sound now appears from the second night you try one, and it tells you how clear the difference is: one sound clearly ahead, barely ahead, or level with another. No more waiting a week for the app to say anything.

Snore recordings are now part of SomniTune Pro. Measuring your snoring is not — the minutes, the count and the marks on your night chart stay on every plan. Recordings already on your iPhone remain yours to play and delete.
