## What is Sonarch?

Sonarch plays the music you already own.

Point it at folders on your Mac, a drive on your network, or a cloud account, and it
builds one library out of all of them. Nothing is streamed from us, nothing is counted,
and nothing about what you play leaves your device.

ONE TRACK, HOWEVER MANY COPIES
A track you have as FLAC and again as MP3, sitting in two different places, is one row
in your library — with every format and every place it lives behind it.

EVERY FORMAT, GAPLESS BETWEEN THEM
FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, MP3, AAC and OGG, with ReplayGain so a library built from many
sources plays at one loudness.

BROWSE VIEWS THAT FOLLOW THEIR RULES
Any view can be restricted to the locations you choose, and a browse view takes rules as
well, composed in its own filter engine. Each one is live and stays where you left it.

WHERE YOU LEFT OFF
A browse, a playlist and the albums wall each keep their own place, and quitting loses
none of them. Bookmarks save any moment inside a track, to come back to later.

WHAT YOU PLAYED, AND WHEN
History keeps every play with the time it happened, counts a track that came round
twice, and remembers the view each one was played from — so it can be played again, or
opened where it came from.

FOLDERS, NETWORK SHARES AND CLOUDS
Dropbox, OneDrive, pCloud, a WebDAV share or a Subsonic server, connected
straight from your device with your own credentials. Your files never pass through our
servers. Take what you want offline for the train.

TAGS THAT STAY FIXED
Correct a tag once and it survives every rescan — written into the file where that is
possible, kept by the library where it is not.

ON THE MAC
Send audio to another output with a keystroke, mid-track, without a trip into Settings.
Schedule a start time and decide what happens when it ends. Drag in a ZIP from Bandcamp
and it joins the library, with the shop's own tags stripped on the way past.

ON IPHONE
CarPlay, the Lock Screen and Control Centre, through the system player rather than a
second interface to learn. Control the Mac from your phone over the local network.

ALSO
An editable playing queue. Lyrics from your tags or from LRCLIB. Scrobbling to Last.fm
and ListenBrainz. Stop after this track, album or artist. Playlists, statistics, and a
queue you can reorder.

NO TELEMETRY, NO ACCOUNT NEEDED
No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier and no third-party SDK of any
kind. There is nothing counting what you play. An account is optional — the player works
perfectly without one.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-10-05

NEW
• Which copy plays, and why. Tap the info mark beside a track held in more than one place to see its copies in the order Sonarch tries them, with the reason the first one wins: lossless over lossy, a higher bit depth or sample rate, the order of your locations, a download, or a copy that can't be reached right now. A switch shows what changes on a limited connection.
• Open audio files from other apps. Sonarch appears in the share sheet and in Files' Open in, and a file you open plays straight away, with the queue still to follow. It's kept in Sonarch › Opened in Files.
• Library Health. Files a scan couldn't take in, grouped by folder with a rescan for each, and albums missing an album name, an artist or track numbers, with a way to fix them, including numbering a whole album at once. Find it in Settings.
• Pause timer. Touch and hold the stop button to pause whatever is playing after a number of minutes or at a set time, with a fade. A countdown shows the time left, and "Finish the track first" lets the playing track end instead of cutting it off.
• Skip tracks automatically. Mark tracks you'd rather not hear and Sonarch passes over them whenever it picks what plays next: through an album or browse, on shuffle, with Next and Previous. Start one yourself, or play it in a playlist or from a row you queued, and it plays as usual. With Sync, the skip reaches your other devices.
• Pick an album from the Remote. The Mac's albums, newest first and searchable by title or artist; tap one and the Mac plays it.
• New music reaches your other devices by itself. With Sync, when a rescan of a cloud folder finds new or changed tracks, your other devices holding the same folder rescan just the folders where they turned up.

IMPROVED
• Select several of an album's tracks to play them, edit their tags, add them to a playlist or the queue, skip them or download them.
• "Set playing here" in Albums, as in playlists and on the Mac.
• History shows what your other devices played even when this iPhone doesn't have the music: the row is dimmed and can't be played until the album turns up here.

FIXED
• The mini player no longer covers the bottom of Stats.
• Tabs that hold more than one section, such as Bookmarks and History, keep the one you chose after a restart.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-01

NEW
• Crossfade. Blend one record into the next, over a length you choose.
• Silence trimming. Skip the dead air at the start and end of tracks.
• Settings on your account. A new iPhone can copy the setup of one you already use.
• Named bookmarks, carried to your other devices.
• Your own accent color, kept with your account.
• Offline albums from the grid. Make an album available offline straight from the album grid.
• Album durations, shown under an album's tracks.

IMPROVED
• A tidier Queue sheet that marks the playing track, and roomier album rows.
• An album you were playing picks up where you left off.

FIXED
• "Add to queue" and "Play next" no longer do nothing after you've chosen a different album.
• Titles that differ only in capitalization count as one track.
• Playback and sync are more reliable, along with other small fixes.
