Ours had 2 identical looking street entries and bc we were visiting, we were not familiar, and soon learned that crossing the threshold into the door for longer term stays meant a stern call out meant to make all look at us in dismay- like we thought we’d waltz into Studio 54 ahead of Andy Warhol. Clean towels were a coin toss on any given day even though a fat stack sat on the groundskeeper or whatevs counter. Thought my bag was stolen and learned I could pay idk like $25 or maybe it was more for “losing” the digital key thingy. Just deprogram it like hotels somehow have figured out for a good decade plus. Luckily, found the bag. Some desk people were nice; all were a little Severance Outties like they know they’re on camera at all times. Don’t want to have to go through JPL Labs security to reserve a room for 5 days- data grab is creepy. Weird, might stay if good price and nothing decent around, but can’t recommend. ### 2/5 — Difficult to navigate *2025-11-21, version 3.13.1* The Marriot merger cause the app a lot of problems. I am a Sonder patron and loved booking their hotels yet with this new merger I am unable to book with just Sonder. Please fix these issues. ### 4/5 — Mariott merger has broken lots of stuff *2025-10-10, version 3.12.11* I would have said once upon a time this was an incredible app. It’s still OK about the integration with Marriott has really broken lots of things. I never know when links aren’t going to work, there are literally just completely broken links between the two hotel chains which aren’t html the user verification was touch and go and just didn’t work at all across multiple devices last time I had to do it. Check out times just comically interpret time zones still 4 stars because it once was ok ### 1/5 — Terrible start *2025-09-23, version 3.12.10* I book reservations with Marriott all the time and I never had a problem until I saw Sonder on the Marriott site and I booked it .. they sent me an email to provide my credit card even though I have it on file with Marriott.. I provided the information .. I get here and find out it’s cancelled.. so I had to rebook through the app with the girl at the front desk with an attitude like she didn’t want to be here … after fighting with the unstable Sonder app.. she finally decided to take my license and credit card to help me.. and I ended up paying and extra $40/nite.. front desk is horrible .. next time I will choose a different hotel!!! ### 1/5 — Worst Check-in Experience Ever *2025-09-18, version 3.12.10* I wasted over an hour outside with zero support on how to get in. Spent money on long distance calls with both Sonder and Marriot. Their system is broken. Not even a try on their end to make things right, completely unacceptable. Avoid if you value your time and an stress-free trip. On top of that, the app barely works, and the environment felt unsafe, more like an overpriced hostel than a hotel. ### 1/5 — Frak you, Sonder and Frak you, Marriott *2025-09-17, version 3.12.9* Marriott kills everything it touches. ### 1/5 — Terrible after Marriott took over *2025-09-15, version 3.12.9* First, I tried booking with my Sonder account but it failed with no clear error message. Later, I figured out I needed a Marriott account. I couldn’t sign up with my original email — probably because it was linked to the old Marriott loyalty program (Starwood or something) — but again, no clear explanation. I had to use another email, create a Marriott account, and finally book with Sonder. The worst part? I had to verify my ID all over again, and I lost all my past booking records. Sonder used to be my favourite hotel experience, but sadly, not anymore now that it’s part of Marriott. ### 2/5 — No App access for Expedia bookings *2025-08-26, version 3.12.7* You can’t use the app if you book a Sonder via Expedia. ### 1/5 — Awful handling of a reservation *2025-08-14, version 3.12.6* I made a reservation 2 weeks ago for a stay on 8/15/25 and was charged for it then they waited until 8/14/25 to tell me it was cancelled because they overbooked the property. My experience may be a unique one, but after I downloaded the app and made a booking in Chicago during a very busy week, the Saunder support team reached out to let me know that they had double booked the room because of a technical glitch. They did not offer any sort of credit or support to help me get another room booked. There was a conference going on and the cheapest room I could find it in the city was $500 on the same day. I love the feature where they mention what is close by in the neighbourhood from cafes to bike shops. I additionally love the keyless and easy entry into the building and my room. It’s also so nice to be able to request early or late check out easily via the app by paying a fee if you feel inclined.
