### 1/5 — Can’t verify phone number in app

*2024-10-07, version 6.2.1*

Whenever I open the app, I get prompted to verify my number but it won’t let me type in the box. Fix please

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2024-08-06, version 6.1.0*

After feeling the need to reach out for support, I hopped into the chat to talk to someone. That was a joke. After being connected, I said I was feeling depressed, got a reply 2 minutes later, then when I explained why, I sat there for 9 minutes with nothing. Just as I add another message saying don’t bother, thanks for the “support,” I finally get a reply that would have taken 10 seconds to write. Really poor when you’re supposed to be there to help.

### 1/5 — I don’t recommend them

*2024-07-30, version 6.1.0*

I used support chat and I was a very bad experience not professionals not trained they will test your patience

### 1/5 — DONT USE THEM

*2024-07-26, version 6.1.0*

Don’t use them, this is a terrible service. Because of them miss judged the situation, which made my family had to wrap up a happy Friday dinner with friends, and came back home with 5 police officer at my home. And I been forced taken to hospital. Now my 9month old son stay in the hospital with no bed, no enough food and warm clothes. SO DONT USE their SERVICE, that can make your life with full drama, and can’t solve any problem you need.

### 1/5 — Poor communication

*2024-02-29, version 5.9.1*

Very poor communication skills, no follow-up, as promised, the best use of the app is to be deleted

### 1/5 — Unprofessional team

*2023-05-12, version 5.3.0*

Let start up mindset running a well being company is a mistake, lack of personal care. Non responsive call, stay away.

### 1/5 — No professional health support just general recommendations

*2023-02-24, version 5.2.0*

As a uni student, I downloaded this app and thought I could reach out professional counselling services. However, they don’t have such services and the staff only give me suggestions such as using planner/ plan ahead, or contact uni welling being services (which I already registered and on the waiting list) or beyond blue.
Very disappointed. I am wasting time to get suggestions which I already know.

### 1/5 — They are not private

*2022-06-29, version 4.3.2*

You can’t just talk to someone and be open

They will call cops on you, tell your family, tell your work

Don’t use this

Worst support personal who doesn’t care and just refers to police

### 1/5 — Lazy and Unresponsive

*2022-04-03, version 4.3.0*

For an App and service that brags about providing 24/7 support and human contact within 30 seconds it failed to delivery either.
NSW Health invested in this service to assist those battling COVID and certainly did not get there moneys worth.
Very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Not a help

*2022-03-11, version 4.2.1*

I am interested in this app it looks good but I put in my email and there’s no code so I contact support and there no help I don’t recommend this at all! Try life 360 they never disappoint you I’ve been using it for 3 yrs now and I love it!

### 1/5 — Didn’t help ?

*2022-02-09, version 4.2.1*

I reached out to Sonder when I was struggling with my anxiety and depression which had hit a real low point. I explained my circumstances and why I was struggling and I was only met with “I’m sorry that sounds really hard” through the convo and because I wasn’t suicidal at that moment it was like I didn’t really matter and wasn’t really heard.

Sonder was like the last resource I used to try get help and support and they couldn’t offer anything to help me. For an app to have a soul purpose to offer help I was left feeling even more alone than ever.

### 1/5 — Over reacted staff and lead to me coping a fine

*2020-09-25, version 3.2.3*

The people working there was very nice, and maybe too nice and worried about my situation that they connected me to the ambulance services and sent the ambulance over. Did all the checks with the paramedics and I was completely fine other than unusual post exercise muscle pain. Now I am invoiced $400 by NSW ambulance services. Will sonder pay for me since they called the ambulance for me? No.

### 1/5 — Notification and tracking preferences

*2020-03-02, version 3.1.14*

I have my notification preferences and tracking set to off yet I am receiving NSW related SMS’s.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Grossly misleading and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS

*2026-07-23, version 7.5.0*

Trigger warning: if you are suicidal or struggling SONDER is the last thing you need!!!
This is NOT a mental health support service; it’s quite the opposite. They record all calls, give your sensitive data and personal information to 3rd parties and do not have qualified psychologists on call for mental health support.
They will lie to you and call emergency services even when not needed. They will lie supervisor isn’t even a qualified nurse. The nurses are not trained adequately in mental health and will only call 000 on you for a welfare check.
If they tell you a psychologist will call you don’t hold your breath because they don’t follow up; not even in a crisis. They just refer you to the standard free call lines like lifeline and 1800RESPECT etc and tell you to go to your GP for a mental health plan because they DO NOT have psychologists or councillors.

COMPANIES USING SONDER AS AN EAP:
Please note - this is not an adequate EAP service!!

Very dodgy, questionable legalities and imo a gross omission of duty of care.

### 1/5 — cannot login my account

*2026-04-29, version 7.0.1*

the app keeps turning back to login page after I enter the password to login

### 1/5 — It’s horrible!

*2026-04-08, version 7.0.1*

I really needed to get some advice but the counselor named Sophie in the chat really let me down and even send me harmful messages. Do they even have the literacy to read and comprehend the message? They interpret it completely wrong and it is lowkey racist and harmful to wellbeing instead of helping or supporting. Horrible and shady service.

### 1/5 — Inefficient

*2026-03-17, version 7.0.1*

Spent 1 hour and 25 minutes attempting to book a counselling session. I now have a referral and still no booking. First triage, person got my name wrong, it happens, not too worried but then referred to nurse where we went through 20 question -
(Ask and respond) that took an hour. Literally q, a-no, 2 minutes later, q. My mental health and stress levels were must better before I used this service

### 1/5 — The Yap App

*2025-12-20, version 6.8.1*

This app’s core concept is built around yapping and providing very shallow advice and info, most of which I believe is not backed by research. Spamming notifs, vague unactionable advice, I’d get better results staring at a brick wall.

### 1/5 — In a bad way it’s exactly what you’d expect

*2025-12-17, version 6.8.1*

If you want a kid to ask you a couple of questions and then send you some self help articles they found on the internet then this is for you!
Honestly terrible, I don’t know why I thought I’d get connected with a competent practitioner. Oh wait, yes I do, they cost too much.
This is a compliance checklist item in app form.

### 1/5 — Not what it seems

*2025-11-27*

This app is designed so your employer can collect data about your health and location/movements that can be used against you in the event of a workers compensation claim. They want you to disclose any ailments or mental health issues so the employer can say that you had pre-existing issues. They want data about your family, ability to track their movements and medical history. If you have an injury at work the company will make you call Sonder for advice and prioritise this over sending you straight to a doctor. Be very careful on the phone calls as they put words in your mouth to potentially build a case against you if you claim workers comp. This is why you will see other reviews saying they don’t treat you very well on the phone, they are trying to mitigate workers comp claims. It also enables employers to track your journey. They say this is optional by the user but it’s not if your employer owns the phone. They say it is to help your employer fulfil their duty of care obligations and to keep you safe and healthy, which in some sense is true (if only for their own best interests) but anything can be used against you when you have a legitimate injury/illness claim. I learned of how it’s used from an employer who uses it, and confirmed through Sonders own fine print and how they market their service to employers.

### 1/5 — No real help

*2025-08-14, version 6.7.0*

Just a don’t lose hope bucko

### 1/5 — Not working

*2025-03-29, version 6.5.1*

### 1/5 — App refuses to load and crashes

*2024-12-20, version 6.3.1*

I installed this app as recommended by my employer. It allowed me to initially set up the app, but now it refuses to load and just shuts down. Still receiving notifications, though. Very frustrating. I am running iOS 18.2 on iPhone 16 Pro

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Track my journey! Brilliant!

*2023-02-02, version 5.1.0*

I travel a lot, often on my own and own long distance. This app is not only excellent for physical and mental health, the safety part is fantastic! I forgot to stop tracking after hours on the road and I received 3 calls, messages and notification. I felt cared for and noticed. Thank you for checking in and tracking me!

### 5/5 — Must have

*2022-07-27, version 4.3.4*

Not even kidding this app saved my life . Wouldn’t be here writing this if it wasn’t for having this . Much love x

### 5/5 — Covid support

*2021-12-26, version 4.2.1*

I was so pleased to have the caring support of your staff after isolating at home after testing positive to Covid. I hadn’t heard from NSW health for more than 36hours after my result and it was great to be able to discuss my concerns with a nurse. The nurse also gave me a web address which ultimately put me in touch with NSW health later the same day. Excellent service.

### 5/5 — Super helpful!

*2021-10-04, version 4.1.1*

It is really helpful when my bub is sick today. We called the nurse and Kristy gave us instructions how to deal with the situation and she stays online to keep monitoring how it goes. Really appreciate it!

### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2021-07-04, version 3.4.1*

I love the variety of resources Sonder has to offer. It’s not only mental health, but also general health, Covid and financial help. I particularly like the “track my journey” feature which I use on my way home on a night out, I feel a lot safer knowing someone will know where I am and check in on me if anything were to happen late at night. I also like the location based alerts for major accidents or COVID restrictions in my local area. Highly recommend this app!

### 5/5 — It’s not just an app; there’s ACTUAL REAL PEOPLE who will come and help you!

*2019-08-22, version 3.1.3*

I was surprised the first time someone from Sonder called me to check if I was OK. When you use Sonder, there are REAL PEOPLE who are looking out for you via the app, 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. And not just anyone, Sonder people are trained professionals, some of whom were ex-police, emergency services personnel etc. Amazing service, wish I heard of you sooner.

### 5/5 — Great service

*2018-12-27, version 2.1.14*

This is a great service for our family, especially when we are away from home with our two young kids and might need local help quickly. When they are a bit older and have mobile phones we will make sure they have Sonder on their phones also.

### 5/5 — Great and Awesome application.

*2018-12-03, version 2.1.14*

Full five stars. I love the fact that I can set a destination to walk and know that I’ll be safe throughout it thanks to someone monitoring my journey.
The check in feature also is great for when I go out places that I’m unfamiliar with.
And finally, the help function is great for when I may need help straight away.

### 3/5 — Employer required - wish it didn’t have so many unnecessary notifications

*2023-09-22, version 5.6.0*

My employer requires this app to access certain services.

So getting advertisements about other unrelated services, cyber security scams etc got annoying enough for me to disable notifications entirely.

### 2/5 — Great app but doesn’t with my old iOS

*2025-03-16, version 6.2.0*

I use this app regularly, the counselling is great when you need it, plus articles on mental health, and the safety feature is my go to. I was disappointed to find out today that I can’t use the app because of my older iOS. Seems like a bit ironic and negligent that a safety app only works with the latest upgrade. As a safety app, you be developing for ALL user accessibility rather than the majority?
