Played it on & off from the beginning but constantly for 5yrs now. Lately though bugs have taken over the game - the new update has actually made it worse! I get kicked out of party games after using tickets/power ups, the game “hangs” while loading/editing songs “liked”, challenge a random player is often one of the daily challenges but I always get an error message when I try to play a random player. Scammers can chat after 3 games yet I’ve contacted “help” several times about an error message when trying to talk to a player who used to be able to chat and they’re having the same issue. Reported songs are not dealt with - convicted sex offenders are still played on here! And if the “N” word is so offensive (it is!) then remove all songs with it! I pay the monthly subscription and it get frustrating that none of my playlist requests are acknowledged - bands with 10+ albums don’t have a playlist but new artists with 1 or 2 albums do 🤷🏻‍♀️ And most definitely NOT a game I’d let someone as young as 12 play! Moving development to Indonesia and cutting staff/payroll has turned what was once the greatest app in the world to an outright embarrassment. 2 stars instead of zero cuz it is still the greatest music game on the App Store. Blinding your players with songs flying out at warp speed all while screwing up the timing of the guesses has ruined the game. It has turned into a vision game rather than a knowledge and speed game - maybe a rabbit would do well. Their greed has led to a situation where only those willing to spend thousands a year can compete in their party competitions. Massive issues beyond all of this. Customer service fell apart. Founders would roll over in their post-app graves. 2 stars cuz it is still the greatest game on the App Store or would rate it a zero. ### 5/5 — Best game ever! *2026-06-01, version 2.40.0* I’ve been playing this game pretty much since it came out so 10 years maybe. I think that alone says an awful lot. ### 5/5 — Part of my life for over a decade *2026-05-30* I’ve been playing Song Pop since 2013 and it’s honestly one of my favorite mobile games of all time. During the Covid years specially from 2020 onward, I became much more involved in the game and started playing more seriously. Some pop was more than just entertainment for me: it helped me through a difficult period of depression and gave me something positive to look forward every day. Along the way, I met many wonderful people from around the world, and I was even lucky enough to meet some of those friends in person. What I love most about the game is its simplicity. The classic version remains my favorite because it focuses on what’s made the game great in the first place: music; friendly competition and community. my suggestion is not to overcomplicate game with too many new features. It often feels like every major update adds more things that make the app heavier and less enjoyable than before. “Less is more”: the core gameplay is already fantastic and what has kept players like me coming back for over a decade. ### 5/5 — Song pop - I enjoy this game so very much. Also, The only game I’ve ever paid for and now I’m canceling my VIP and deleting the app… because it steals coins, power ups and tickets from your account and it also won’t keep you signed in now. If you play a category just a few times you get the same songs when there are thousands of songs, it shouldn’t repeat so frequently. Ads are worst I’ve ever experienced. A long as BEFORE and AFTER a play. One play, two ads. Get out of here. And today I watch an ad before playing the playlist I selected only to not have the playlist show up having to just re watch the ad again and again in some weird ad glitch. I do not recommend this game due to the insane amount of ads that are also very long. ### 1/5 — Lame *2026-03-25, version 2.39.2* They be trying real hard to make you pay for the SongPop plus with all the ads and limited playlists you can select. After every round you play with someone its followed by an ad that you have to keep clicking the x in the corner. At first I was like damn this is fun I wonder why I quit playing but I quickly remembered after the first couple games abruptly followed by ads until I genuinely started getting frustrated with them and my playing time significantly dropped over the week. I’m sure yall got the statistics. People would probably play the game more if the ads alone weren’t so in your face. Excessive ads? Screw it I’ll pay 12 bucks a month for the SongPop plus. Not this guy, your game ain’t that good, it’s fun but not 12 dollars a month fun. If I was a trillionaire I still wouldn’t pay 12 dollars a month to play this game. Just my opinion tho so what does it all really mean in the end ? Was it even worth it to write this review? Probably not. But, if I accomplished one thing it would be to make someone else who feels the same way I do laugh. I absolutely love it. There are a couple of people I’ve played against almost since the beginning. The ONLY thing I don’t like is that the levels end at 200. I reached level 200 a year ago and can’t go any higher. But I still play the game because it’s so much fun! A note to the game creators if they read these reviews: PLEASE consider extending the top levels beyond level 200. I can’t be the only one who has reached it!
